This video was so great! Contouring can make such a huge difference to round out these features and the cis version of these tutorials usually ends up *emphasizing* them when applied to trans folx! Having a transfeminine-specific version is really useful
Anaïs Betts Spot on!!! Cis ladies are usually trying to add angles (usually too many in my opinion lol). Glad you liked the tutorial. Thanks for watching!!
this was so helpful! Detailed, but to the point. Thank you so much! I was only highlighting, and probably over doing it. Doing less, but adding contour has made a difference. Thank you! ❤❤❤
Hello, I love your videos and that you are so incusive of advice for trans people! I noticed that you tend to apply all of your makeup with brushes as opposed to something like a beauty blender/sponge. Is there a reason for that and if so should I stop applying my concealer and foundation with my blender? Thanks!
If you find your beauty blender works well for you-- that's great!! The reason there are so many options on the market (different brushes, sponges, etc) is that there is a lot of personal preference involved. The only reason to switch anything about your routine is if you find you are not getting great results with what you are currently using. Now when it comes to the highlighting and contouring part of this video, I especially think contouring using a sponge would be more difficult than using a brush, but again...that's up to you :)
Great tutorial. So when hiding the 5 o’ clock shadow, what goes first? Contour, corrector, foundation,? I mean, putting things altogether, how would the makeup routine go? Thanks
i'm curious about this as well, i'm unsure since in the 5 o'clock shadow video she puts on the foundation first, if you are using any. the contour seems to necessitate foundation, so i'm thinking it might go contour > foundation > CC > concealer?
Getting people who are willing to be seen on camera without makeup is a challenge. I did not intentionally choose someone based on their appearance…I asked for volunteers to be in the video and this is who was kind enough to do so. The quality of information should still be very useful, but if it is not hopefully there are other videos you like better. Please be considerate of the fact that producing free educational content requires a lot of effort, and if you aren’t enjoying a particular channel, all you have to do is find one that suits your needs better instead of leaving negative comments.
I think it’s great that you made these couple videos specific for trans women! 👏🏻 Regarding your disclaimer about (paraphrasing) “broad general terms you just have to use” You kept saying “Male(s) face(s)” In the future you should use something like “more masculine face” “larger faces” I have met more than several cis-gender women with very masculine faces but you would say they “have a male face”. saying male face makes some trans feel like it means they are not female.

Wow! Contouring UNDER the foundation! Brilliant. I've put in on top several times and it just ends up a cakey mess...
Glad this tip was helpful to you!! I find that contour on top looks muddy or ashy...very tricky to blend!
Regardless of this video's content, it is amazingly aware and accepting. Thanks a lot, Melissa! You are amazing.

Thanks for watching, Wendy! You're the best :)

Hey, this was so very useful
Wow! That helps a lot!!!

I was wondering the same thing!

i know this is really late but i start with color correct, then concealer, then contour
Question, dear: How to combine the steps you described above with the 5 O'Clock Shadow ones?
The steps are: contour, then foundation, then color corrector and concealer on the 5 O'clock shadow, then highlight
@@TheMakeupByMelissaM Thank you!
Love the vid ,helped slot.thank you x
Thank youuuuuuu xoxo
Thank you
Thanks for this video! I always do my contouring after I applied my foundation on my face. Did I always do this wrong?
There’s different methods! I prefer to do it underneath
Very helpful ♥️
Very helpful
she looks more fem before tbh! I hope that's not rude but just to me.

She looked the same
Why always using models that look super feminine to start with..?????

saying male face makes some trans feel like it means they are not female.
Thanks so much for this feedback and phrasing. I will definitely incorporate this in the future!
But they are not females. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Dont do this to us. Only XX are women and females😢😢😢😢
