Thanks to @playstationcanada I was sent to PlayStation HQ in California to get a hands-on preview of the PlayStation Access Controller, the first PlayStation adaptive controller for the PS5. I got to see all of what will be included with the controller, what functionality it has, the main pillars of what went into making the controller, and how it feels for a motor disabled player to use it.

Here i am, a (mostly) fully abled person who doesn’t need accessibility features/gadgets, yet i still watch every single one of your videos because you’re so great at explaining things and you do such a good job of showing the importance of accessibility in gaming. Keep up the awesome work, Steve🙌
I really surprised by the size of the Access Controller. I watched the deep dive video on the making of the Access Controller and I'm impressed with what PlayStation created here. Having that issue of hardware acessibility conflicting with game software accessibility is a blessing in disguise really. PS Studios 1st party are going to iron out the kinks and really open up accessibility as a whole.
Absolutely AMAZING! Sony is more than AWESOME for creating this PHENOMENAL controller
This is very awesome! I have a friend who has cerebral palsy, and could benefit from that remote. Thanks for doing the video. Speaking of remotes, do you have a good way for blind individuals to memorize the square and the triangle, and all those buttons? You see, I’m used to a and B, etc. I never really mastered those buttons, either. Just wondered if there’s a way that you kind of memorized those buttons, like when you were getting used to the remote, at first. if that makes sense.
We live in a time where 2 of the big 3 companies(Not counting PC) have controllers designed to make gaming easier for disabled players.
What a time to be alive.
All 3 do actually! We got playstation access controller, Xbox Accessible controller, and Nintendo Switch Hori Flex (officially licenced).
I was definitely skeptical of the design when I saw it but I'm eager to see reviews when the controller is finally out.
Looks amazing, I have pre-ordered two of them. Shame there aren't two analogue inputs (stick or triggers) for steering and accel/brake for driving games on one unit. Great video. Thank you.
Hi Steve, great video. I was wondering if this controller could be paired with iOS once configured on PS5? Many thanks for any definitive answer.
I'm a C5C6 Quad gamer and I just recently got into the Diablo series. I wonder if you'd need the dual sense along side this controller or just the access controller by itself to play Diablo since the control scheme is simplified.
I got my hands on one and I’m still figuring it out! I play a lot of Apex right? But there is only one joystick? My question, I can move my character but how do I move the camera so it can be a full 360?
It’s so heartening to see the major current gen consoles working to make gaming accessible for more people. Big props to Xbox for really kicking it off, and hats off to PlayStation for finally bringing this to market!
Nintendo Hands Free Controller 1989...
Did anyone talk about how this will interact with Spider-man 2? Since they are putting in a lot of accessibility options in Spider-man 2, I was curious if there were any Access controller specific functionality?
All they had to do was add braille on top of button slots and the Bluetooth should work on pc...lazy build.
I will use it for arthritis I use the 12-button flight stick mapping it to everything

Can Madden 24 and NBA 2k24 be played on this controller
Do you have some sight? Its kinda weird him gesturing and showing you things if you were totally blind. I’m curious how good this would be for fighting games like Mortal Kombat 1 or Tekken 8. Or MMORPGs like Diablo 4, etc. I also wish they would make a console version of WOW, I think it could be pretty cool with controllers like this or the Dual Sense Elite.
am gathering information for a friend but there is no second thumbstick? how does one aim or move the camera ingame with this?. i cant find examples for this, they just keep showing off buttons and switching them and having multiple options and faces for the same button. okay sure. but i am missing the part where you do certain things you could do with a regular controller? or is it just buy an extra part for it?
exactly my issue with this also.
I play one handed. I struggle with games that have use of Camara. R3. I hope this helps me
See, that’s my thoughts! Yes, you can move your character but what helps or replaces the R3 button?
😊
how does it work with fortnite
Is it really useful for blind persons
It potentially can be as there could be the possibility for braille labels that can be attached to each of the buttons. But that would have to be created by either a 3D Modder/Printer as there is currently no official options for that from PlayStation. However, this is more designed for those with motor disabilities than those for visual disabilities. It's not meant to be designed for multiple disabilities.
I'm hoping this doesn't cost an absurd amount of money
Its selling for $90 US.

@@bamban_garcia5562 @baroncalamityplus not too shabby!
This is way better than xbox adaptive controller.
I'm curious as to why exactly you think so.
It's not "better", it's just differently designed.
Xbox's is good in a different way.
useless for onehanded gamers.. how i can play with that in Fifa..?
thats my problem to... my left hand has no movement but i can press buttons ...
@@magicohome967 this should be a half smaller so one hand can manage, also should have 2 analog sticks or d-pad
