mark will always find a way to shine in mvs/performances and songs. he didn't have a full verse (which is rare for a main rapper like mark...) but still he stood out and in my opinion his intro part is the killing part of the song!
i didn't even notice that he didn't have full verse until someone complained yesterday lol
He was all over the mv and choreography. His voice is also heard throughout and he was the center for alot of the main parts of the choreography. They definitely didn’t skimp on mark moments for this comeback.
there's a lack of mark and haechan in this song but it's probably purposeful so the dreamies won't have to cover their parts in shows where they're gone usually during the awards season. not really sure but it seems like this for me.

NCT just never disappoints, but there's something really special about the Dreamies and their title tracks, something so refreshing and remarkable, so many catchy moments that you wanna do along straight away, and of course another killer choreo! Flow, vocals, chorus, dance break, EVERYTHING IS FIRE! Edit: Changed tricks to tracks LOL
Dreamies have officially blown up, like korean media mentions them together with the currently highest selling korean act in the world. As for your observations: the Mark and Haechan situation is a nightmare tbh and I don't think SM thought the NCT system through, but at least they took it into consideration more than usual that both will pretty soon drop out of Dream promos to prepare 127's tour, that's why they probably didn't get the amount of lines they usually get. As for Jeno and Jaemin: Glitch Mode is a rap heavy song, some like it some don't, but that explains why those 2 are more prominent (plus Renjun who's doing the most vocals on this tracks). Mark's lines will probably go to Jisung and Chenle usually takes most of Haechans lines when those two don't promote with Dream.
as an asteroid, it's sad to see jisung only having 6 seconds in glitch mode and then probs covering mark's lines, wished SM gave jisung more opportunities to show his vocals (and rap), but they don't even push him as a main dancer so I'm honestly not surprised anymore...
and yea I agree that maybe in the upcoming comebacks, dream will need to comeback as ot5 since markhyuck will be very busy for 127's tour (and considering quarantine they probs can't fly back and forth anymore), and dreamzens do need to remember that they are a rotational unit like nct u, but have fixed members soo. tbh I hope that dream has a ot5 comeback during 127's tour to keep the brand active (or maybe wayv or new unit debut lol), so that it wouldn't burden the two too much and they would only need to focus on their tour and wouldn't need to miss out on any dream promotions (even though this is sad, it is what's best for the group since I feel that back then they used to delay dream's comebacks due to haechan's conflicting schedules)
as for 127, idek if they are coming back this year (maybe a mini album?) it seems that they're focusing more on solo activities + world tour, and taeil's enlistment so he'll (hopefully SM??) have a solo album yayy :))

I think it's about time that we get more Jeno and Jaemin rapper sections especially Jaemin and Jisung always get half of a rap verse. I think Mark brings a way different sound so when he did come in he gave variety he always has hype in his voice

10:21 if you notice but The jeno pants have a rope that moves naturally, this indicates that they are really dancing without any modification
Thry are. They slowed it down .5 times while recording it and then sped up in thr mv to show the effects. This was mentioned during their live prior to the mv release.
When I first saw the buffering in the dance I was like what how did they dance like that!! Apparently they recorded that part with the music playing at .5 speed, then sped up the video by 2x. A simple effect but genius addition to the video.

those robotic/buffering scenes were actually very interesting to watch and I'm lowkey waiting for the behind the scenes to drop because during the press conference, I think it was Renjun who said they danced with the song in 0.5 speed and the footage got sped up during the editing, so that would explain how it looks real and robotic at the same time
I was literally buffering while watching the MV for the first time. I was really overwhelmed. Seriously high quality music they never disappoint. I can't wait for the performance and the dance practice.

Not sure if they take it into account how mark and haechan won't always perform the song with them because of the 127 tour, so I'd assume both of that they got less lines because of this but could totally be a coincidence. Easier to distribute their parts if there's less of them or the focus isn't on them in the original.

I really love how PD reacts not just for NCT but to all kpop groups because there's the respect and understanding of the concept and he always try to share his opinion in a very sincere and clear manner...not sugar coating it but you really feel that PD understood what he heard and tries to educate us as well with the meaning of the song or the title. Keep it up PD we realy appreciate it🤗💓💓

I have heard this line enough , for other members to shine , its not necessary to bring up mark all the time , he doesnt get the most lines ever but he hardly gets any lines in dream and u still think he needs to cut his parts for others to shine

If SM can't push Jisung as the Main Dancer, then atleast give the man some lines, like I get the Jisung is only a sub-rapper, so having many lines in a rap-based song is quite impossible but atleast treat him as THE main dancer that he is. He didn't even get a proper dance break

Ok. Here is a theory. I would need to confirm it from ReacttotheK's reaction. But I think the 2nd pre-chorus by CHENLE actually switches into the bridge done by Haechan and Renjun. I thought the switchup was similar to a transition to bridge. Otherwise, this song has no bridge and it is indeed an entire pre-chorus shifting to a dance break and then to a final chorus.
It totally does! They have two bridges! That's maybe why the song sounded so short during the first listen because the structure isn't the one with intro- verse - pre chorus - chorus - verse - pre chorus - chorus - bridge (1 + 2) - chorus - ending, but this one has the following structure : (small intro -) chorus - verse - pre chorus - chorus - verse - shortened pre chorus - vocal bridge - dance break/interlude - rap bridge - chorus
It's really interesting and the switch up towards the vocal bridge was actually very natural while being unexpected at first listen, then the switch up with the rock elements just made everything even better!
@@miyabihyatt Thank you for explaining it in such a detailed manner. It makes things much clearer. And I agree! The transition to the bridge was so seamless. It was very tasteful. Kind of reminds me slightly of Punch because I think Punch also had such a transition from a shortened pre-chorus to bridge. This was a lot more fluid as a transition. Most people didn't even notice that we actually moved to the bridge, which I found very interesting. And I also liked how well it flowed from the dance break interlude to the final chorus. This song had it's weird elements but it was very organically blended. That's why I liked this song a lot! Sorry I wrote such a huge answer but I thought I should share.
For me it was interesting that they used a Rock n Roll sound for the dance break (or was it the bridge 😅) while the pop punk genre is more on trend now.

Mark wrote all the rap part so I think he also considering who suite with the line/line and who can stood up the lyrics
THIS is the perfect example of how a song can be kind of all over the place but still be cohesive & GOOD. I'm generally SM's bitch - particularly for their boy groups - but the ONLY main title track I truly loved in 2021 was Don't Fight the Feeling. I was always either waiting for the repackage to give me what I really wanted or just left unsatisfied w/ EPs. Glitch Mode delivers on the first try, though, & now I'm more hopeful about the rest of the year. I'm also a bit surprised by the relative lack of Mark & Haechan in the song, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if they either suggested it or are at least totally cool with it after the insanity that was their schedule last year.
Also, not SM going: Holy shit! We finally gave in & let Dream do a full album & people loved it?? And it won a Daesang?!? Guess we better do that again!
Glitch mode isn't sm's most "all over the place" song structurally wise tho. The only unexpected section is the electric guitar breakdown, which was not at all surprising if you've been following what nct and other sm groups have been releasing for the past 2 years. On the contrary, glitch mode felt super cohesive and not that "out there", with a few minimal alterations between first and second verses/pre-choruses/choruses (slightly changing up the melody and adding a small section in the second pre-chorus like they love to do in other nct songs, adding some synths as the intro plays again as chorus). I was not lost listening to it, compared to sticker or universe. Don't get me wrong, i love these two songs, but i am also glad sm is able to still release more "classic" title tracks while still keeping their new sound.
Yeah interesting mark doesn’t have a full part but neither does jisung I think. Also mark wrote the rap for the song I think so it would be so interesting to see how and why they divided it the way they did!

That whiny synth sound that accompanies the second part of the chorus throughout the song is incredible.
It kind of contextualises the chord change/key change (I don't know music). I can't listen to that part without getting excited.

I've been loving Dream's music more and more and this is my favourite comeback they've ever had! Dream's music is just on another level lately and I'm so here for it. Everyone stood out in this MV but Renjun and Chenle really killed it with the vocals 😍

Idk why but watching this made me go back to the feelings I've had in November/December of 2019 - I remember watching NCT Dream concerts and crying with whole stadium and members, bc we thought Dream is over (after 2020 the 00's would graduate like Mark previously did). It was devastating to see. And then April of 2020 came and we got the announcement that Mark is coming back and Dream is a fixed unit. Then we got rushed Reload era with 6Dream and a year wait for an full album for a 5 year old group. The emotions, man.
But everything was worth the wait, because Dream is exceeding expectations left and right. I love Hot Sauce and then Hello Future, but this is my favourite album in NCT so far. It's amazing.
In conclusion tho, Lee Haechan is Elsa and I'm kinda sad that he is so much in the back of the MV :(
