someone mentioned on twitter that the way minghao and dino sing the Monkey King name is even different. how minghao sings it in how it sounds in Chinese “sun wukong” whereas dino sings it in Korean “sonogong”. and i just thought that was a really cool thing to notice and especially cool that minghao would pronounce it like that considering the origin of the character is from China
I did feel it sounded Chinese because I have noticed when Minghao and Jun speaks Korean their Chinese accent does show, but I had no idea he said it in Chinese, love it 😁
I’ve seen some people mention it but I think for me the reason Minghao’s entrance is SO impactful is because he’s absent from the rest of the video due to his injury. I only noticed upon my second viewing, but I think even subconsciously we all might’ve realized he wasn’t in the background so it’s extra special when he has such a memorable part of the video!
To me minghao owned the concept of the mv. Idk he just looks very fierce, powerful, majestic just like sunwukong. He stood out the most to me. I know woozi’s supposed to look like the king ? I think the biggest factor of why it may feel shorter is we’re so used to the members of Seventeen going back and forth on tracks that when you only hear pretty much the majority of the members voices only once, you expect to hear it again and it never comes which feels almost abrupt and empty in a sense

Now I know what this song reminds me of. It sounds like a festival song, like those summer festivals in Asia, with the fireworks at night, dragon dance, etc etc.
YESSSSS the song definitely has the oriental style. The instrumental highlighted at the start and at the end (and the post chorus) leans towards Chinese sound. It sounds like how the media (idk if it’s accurate or true) portrays Chinese empire grandiose. It also had the epic feels which made it sound like you’re a main character in a historical drama. The anti drop also had what sounded like a Korean traditional instrument, probably a gayageum added with effects. Overall the song is like a modernized traditional song, definitely like an ending song for an epic/animation/book and I’m loving it so much.

Yeah, my brother knows nothing about Kpop but loves anime. I played this song for him and he's obsessed with all the Dragon Ball references. He named all the same ones in the lyrics and choreo-- even the spirit bomb one in the bridge.
There is no set change but it doesn't feel boring because it is so intricate. All the budget went for the lighting, camera work, dancers, and clothes, and I'm not mad about it.
I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but Minghao had a broken collarbone at the time they filmed this so he had restricted use of his left arm. But he made it work so effortlessly. I feel like the original choreo wouldn't have been more impactful than what he did.
Honestly I think it really increases the impact of the visuals. Ofc I'm not happy he's hurt, but minghao dancing smooth af with one hand in his pocket while the rest of the crew is going full force just reminds me of how anime main characters flex during fight scenes

The members themself said that since they usually have a b-side especially for end of year award shows, they wanted a fitting title track this time. I guess that's also part of the reason this was shot more as a performance video and F*ck My Life will get a more "normal" music video. It's just amazing to see how much their budget increased. The building, the light panels and the 200 sonething dancers are all completely real, no cgi.

As someone who LOVES Anime and SVT, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I was actually really worried I wouldn't like it or that I put too much hope into it. Even though I know I can trust SVT to make a hit, it's still been a difficult week... after my family forgot my birthday and then the news coming out, it's been hard to find trust and hope in this world. This song though...like you said it has a fast paced yet sadder tone and it kind of...not only brings hope for the future but also kind of excitement for whats to come...I don't know how but SVT always releases music when we most need it. I think you’d be proud to know that not only did seventeen break the record for the highest preorders in kpop history, but they also broke the record for the highest 1st day sales of this century, surpassing Adele’s “25” which previously held the record. And to put it in perspective, within 2 hours of release, we reached over one million sales, while during henggarae it took us a week to get to a million. Seventeen are well and truly growing and are only getting bigger. They are in their 8th year, but they never had any intention of slowing down 💙
This song definitely has grown on me as I have listened to it throughout the day. And I love how "simple" and sleek a video they chose to pair with it: SVT has enough swag and power to make even a simple performance video look wicked cool.
Seventeen are my "No Skip" group. They have yet to have a single song miss for me, and are definitely where I find my healing. This was the group I needed to have a comeback this week 💜 Every time I listen to this song, I pick up on a new sound or choreo move that just makes me love it even more. Minghao's part is SO impactful. I also didn't think about the fact that his dancing that line with one hand in his pocket was due to the injury/surgery. I totally accepted it as a stylistic choice and it fit him and that part so well. I hope he doesn't change that when he is fully healed.

I don’t know what I loved most - Woozi’s opening and ending and his BOMB look in this (he should show off that physique more 😍), Dino’s smirk as he starts his part, Jeonghan and Hoshi’s almost rap-like parts, SCoups rapping like the KING he is and rocking that hair, Wonwoo’s starter verse ramping up the intensity, Mingyu and Joshua’s Daramdharimda-ing the crap out of the song, Jun and Minghao bringing the class, Vernon punching it out in the chorus, Seungkwan and Dino as usual delivering the crescendos and the highs, the INSANE LYRICS AND MEANING (Woozi the songwriter genius again) or the video’s visuals and artistry…. A 40min reaction video for SVT's Super, I EXPECTED NO LESS. I think my replayed button broke since yesterday with that MV, it was so good I literally squealed when Jeonghan came out with that traditional hairpin, LEFT ME DECEASED. And from that building lighting, those styling and outfits, and just the fact of putting together 240 dancers together, this is absolutely a masterpiece.
I think my favorite thing about this music video is when Dokyeom does Goku's instant transmission sign and then actually leaves frame. I love the little things in performances and for some reason that stuck out so much to me

I always get scared with them even tho they are also my favorite group of all time (started with kpop in 2018 with bts but after oh my came to svt) and they always get me excited for whats next. Since I am well aware that not all songs someone makes will be good, I get that feeling since woozi likes to drop smth new everytime, but he just keeps proving me wrong with every album and I love that. And I also fin it fascinating how with every album they drop it's the album that I need at that point in my life. I love how PD pointed out how Minghao caught the energy from the sky with the trembling of his body and arms and stabilize it in his hands and pointed it to his clavicle. It got me emotional since that spot is where Minghao is injured that time and it occured to me that he used that ball of energy he caught to heal his injury omg 🥹 Watching this in 2024 where Woozi explaned in weverse live the little background story of this song, that 2022 has been a very hard year for him and his friends/svt and made Sonogong to overcome the hardships of that year and wish they could be like sonogong. Seventeen is my favorite group, but I was really worried how I would feel listening to this after having such a hard time the past week. I haven't been able to listen to kpop or watch much content (boys planet, etc). It's brought up a lot of emotions I wasn't ready to deal with. This song and the whole album has been cathartic for me. I'm thankful for this being able to fill a bit of the emptiness I've been feeling. It has brought me genuine joy, and it's so nice to see that it has brought that for many other fans as well.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but Minghao had a broken collarbone at the time they filmed this so he had restricted use of his left arm. But he made it work so effortlessly. I feel like the original choreo wouldn't have been more impactful than what he did.
Honestly I think it really increases the impact of the visuals. Ofc I'm not happy he's hurt, but minghao dancing smooth af with one hand in his pocket while the rest of the crew is going full force just reminds me of how anime main characters flex during fight scenes

The members themself said that since they usually have a b-side especially for end of year award shows, they wanted a fitting title track this time. I guess that's also part of the reason this was shot more as a performance video and F*ck My Life will get a more "normal" music video. It's just amazing to see how much their budget increased. The building, the light panels and the 200 sonething dancers are all completely real, no cgi.
A lot of carats also compared the imagery of the video to the Fire Nation from atla. The formations, the shadow dancers, the VIBES. Seventeen came to take over and dominate!

As someone who LOVES Anime and SVT, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I was actually really worried I wouldn't like it or that I put too much hope into it. Even though I know I can trust SVT to make a hit, it's still been a difficult week... after my family forgot my birthday and then the news coming out, it's been hard to find trust and hope in this world.
This song though...like you said it has a fast paced yet sadder tone and it kind of...not only brings hope for the future but also kind of excitement for whats to come...I don't know how but SVT always releases music when we most need it. Every time I listen to this song, I pick up on a new sound or choreo move that just makes me love it even more. I loved getting to hear everyone's lower registers and I honesly think that the choice for a grand scale, performance heavy MV was perfect.

Minghao's part is SO impactful. I also didn't think about the fact that his dancing that line with one hand in his pocket was due to the injury/surgery. I totally accepted it as a stylistic choice and it fit him and that part so well. I hope he doesn't change that when he is fully healed.

As for this Seventeen comeback, there’s only one word for it - EPIC.
I don’t know what I loved most - Woozi’s opening and ending and his BOMB look in this (he should show off that physique more 😍), Dino’s smirk as he starts his part, Jeonghan and Hoshi’s almost rap-like parts, SCoups rapping like the KING he is and rocking that hair, Wonwoo’s starter verse ramping up the intensity, Mingyu and Joshua’s Daramdharimda-ing the crap out of the song, Jun and Minghao bringing the class, Vernon punching it out in the chorus, Seungkwan and Dino as usual delivering the crescendos and the highs, the INSANE LYRICS AND MEANING (Woozi the songwriter genius again) or the video’s visuals and artistry….

A 40min reaction video for SVT's Super, I EXPECTED NO LESS. I think my replayed button broke since yesterday with that MV, it was so good I literally squealed when Jeonghan came out with that traditional hairpin, LEFT ME DECEASED.
And from that building lighting, those styling and outfits, and just the fact of putting together 240 dancers together, this is absolutely a masterpiece.
I think my favorite thing about this music video is when Dokyeom does Goku's instant transmission sign and then actually leaves frame. I love the little things in performances and for some reason that stuck out so much to me

I always get scared with them even tho they are also my favorite group of all time (started with kpop in 2018 with bts but after oh my came to svt) and they always get me excited for whats next. Since I am well aware that not all songs someone makes will be good, I get that feeling since woozi likes to drop smth new everytime, but he just keeps proving me wrong with every album and I love that. And I also fin it fascinating how with every album they drop it's the album that I need at that point in my life. This song is like the push that I needed in this period of my life, but the next title track (fml) is the thing that I am feeling at the moment, and I rly applaud to woozi for everything that he did for seventeen and fans with his music. Watching this in 2024 where Woozi explaned in weverse live the little background story of this song, that 2022 has been a very hard year for him and his friends/svt and made Sonogong to overcome the hardships of that year and wish they could be like sonogong. Never been so emotional til now.

Seventeen is my favorite group, but I was really worried how I would feel listening to this after having such a hard time the past week. I haven't been able to listen to kpop or watch much content (boys planet, etc). It's brought up a lot of emotions I wasn't ready to deal with. This song and the whole album has been cathartic for me. I'm thankful for this being able to fill a bit of the emptiness I've been feeling. It has brought me genuine joy, and it's so nice to see that it has brought that for many other fans as well.
