Three questions. Was the battery truly purchased from the USA? I would think, with the weight of a battery, it would be cost prohibitive. Second, why did the handle bars on the bike need to be changed? Were they bent? Third, do the fork boots help extend the life of the fork seals? I have never seen them used on a BMW telelever front fork. Fortunately, the oil inside is only used to lubricate and not dampen the fork travel. Nice to see these old GS's getting some youtube air time. Mine (1996) is approaching 100K miles, and has been my favorite bike to date. I dred the day I'm forced to move on to a "new" bike. Probably a low mileage R1150GSA.
Hey man! I sourced the battery from a local Dutch supplier, I don't know where he got it from... I crashed the bike 2 summers ago, initially didn't notice that the bar was bend... The fork boots look cool, but I'm not sure if they extend the life of the seals. replaced the seals around 100k Kms and I bet they where still the original ones.... Bike sits at 120k currently😉 I love the GS, by far the best bike I've ridden. And the old ones are not to expensive and easy to work on!
Ik weet niet of het ook voor een GS is, maar let dan even op als je handvat verwarming hebt. Je nieuwe stuur moet daar ook geschikt voor zijn (al zou je zelf de 2 gaten kunnen boren en een uitsparing in je stuur slijpen)

You didn't by accident switch polarity on that battery?
Easy to be made mistake on those universaly to configure thingies...
No, the battery was installed correctly... The bike is running again😏

@@Kwakboy did it by accident not to long back, when we tried to jump start my mates bike... Luckely it only damaged his main fuse😅... Live and learn😆
