Learning a new language can be hard. The reason why I make these videos about culture and traveling is because I believe it not only keeps me motivated, but maybe it can motivate others too! This is so interesting.
I recently started learning Chinese more seriously (which implies having a fixed schedule dedicated to learning) because our vision of China and its culture is *so* dumbed down and judged by a Western lens that the little we get to know about it is perceived through this contaminated (and often patronizing) view of the place, whereas countries like Japan and Korea are commonly (foolishly) fetishized.
Thanks for the video! I now know where to go to in order to get a closer look on how the life of the Chinese truly is.

Let me talk about bilibili. At the beginning, this website was a gathering place for a group of people who like anime (especially Japanese anime). Gradually, they formed a culture because of this common hobby (which means that they don’t want people who don’t like anime to enter this Website and leave bad comments. So the previous questions are much more difficult than now, and most of the topics are related to animation). However, with the gradual growth of bilibili, it is no longer limited to animation. However, as the number of users continues to grow, many bots (automatic programs to pretend to be a real person) have also entered this site, leaving some bad comments and giving some videos likes (this will destroy recommendation algorithm) . Therefore, the role of these questions now is more to stop these bots.

Bilibili test is basically a tradition from when they started. Those are all ACG related quiz to test your knowledge about the ACG culture since it started as an ACG related video site. Then they became larger but kept the tradition.
Bilibili learned the 弹幕 floating comments thingy from a Japanese video site called Niconico
So interesting and useful! And LOOOOVE the new style 😍😍😍! I think it would be interesting to talk more about we chat(especially this banking part which is still insane to me) and how to download those apps. Also I think it would be helpful to talk about how to be able to still use some apps when you go to China and that are not available there. I heard many people who go to China have problems with that! And thank you for this video! Looking forward to the new series! ❤

Guys omg I did the bilibili test with google live translation and my weeb past. It took around an hour to finish because if I just moved the phone slightly the translation would change😂😅. It was worth it though.

@@ThatsReallyJen ya, I did the test as well and can't believe that I got pass. Basically they ask a lot of questions to find if you are a real fan of some topics you interested in. I had to google it before I drop the answers. And also they do want to educate you, just to ensure you behave well when on the platform, like not putting negative comments or 弹幕. I like reading the comments in bibibili, this people are really creative and fun.
Hahaha that’s such an interesting concept to be honest! I wonder if it actually works the way they want it to since people can just look up the answers 😮

I follow hella chinese influencers lol I love their style, there are so many alternative (punk, goth etc..) kind of girls and I love it when they also have taobao stores. I think chinese fashion/fashion designers are so underrated! Everyone knows harajuku and korean street fashion but china seems to get left behind, but part of me also kind of wants it to stay that way haha.

This is awesome! I teach English online on Palfish to Chinese students, I was wondering about social media in China and I was thinking why not get on their social media platforms and post content?
How do I download Weibo, bilibili, and the chinese tiktok? I looked through your channel to find more videos on it but couldn't find any. Also do you know if we can make money through making videos on their version of TH-cam just like we do on our version of youtube?
Also I was thinking spend a few years building up the chinese social media and some of them have vpns as well and can funnel them over to the western social media, or also just build up the chinese social media and in a few years the chinese government could lift the social media ban and can have an insane number of chinese followers by then in this untapped market of 1.4 billion chinese. Also how to navigate the phone number verifications on the apps? Some of the apps ask for a Chinese number to enter the app?

Oh also idk if you would know this, but how do chinese people use platforms like youtube and Instagram? I know they can vpn, but some celebrities and others have tens of millions of followers so there's no way the government hasn't seen
The government doesn't care as long as you don't incite a revolution
Yeah so regular people use a VPN, but most chinese celebrities have a team who would run their western social media! That team might be in the west, or would also use a vpn hahaah

Although douyin isn't found in play store. I still can download it via alternative sources. And being able to register an account without the need of chinese +86 number. But when comes to Weibo we can't register our account since it keeps telling me to sign via +86. Even having Weibo international version only few countries(15)are comparable for registration. Other countries we can't!! That's very sad.

If you have a WeChat account you can make Weibo account, even with phone numbers that aren't in the list of international version. And, if you want to download these apps, you could download Tencent app store for example.
@@forgottensongs1358 I already did those procedures. Unfortunately after sometimes(few days or weeks)the account will become abnormal state . I can't post, comment, follow or unfollow. The only thing I can do is like or unlike post.

@@ThatsReallyJen QQ can search the key words or numbers to find and join a group, which is impossible in Wechat.
despite QQ isn't popular as it used be, it still has large number of users. I feel QQ is more functional on PC, big chat room, more PC related service, it's easily to find stranger shares common interest while wechat is more focusing on family & friends & colleagues chatting. I would say QQ users are pre Internet ppl, they know Internet pretty well for years. Wechat is now generation of internet, with smartphone, APPs, ppl can easily online chatting, no need to knowing PC no more. In short: QQ is that big old chat software more relate to internet, Wechat is lite mobile APP relate to nowadays life.

你可以调整语速的，调到0.75就慢很多了。而且可以点开自动生成的英文字幕，不懂的词可以暂停一下查一下字典。我是这样在油管上学英文的，感觉比专门去找英语资料学有效率得多。
