I always had two bottles of this. One opened being drank and one unopened in reserve. It was my favorite budget bourbon. It's no longer budget if I can find it. Wish I bought a few cases when it was cheap.
The thing i love about henry mckenna bib is that all the bottles iv had so far have been good, great value for the money. But every once in a while, there is an exceptional one.

I've been suggesting bourbon to my clients for over two years now. This has been my favorite bourbon since the first time I tried it. I went in one day and saw McKenna's sour mash and thought I would try it as well. I am not a fan of the sour mash. 10 year BIB... Absolute best bourbon
My very first try of this honey juice was an ‘07 barrel I snagged for $25 in San Francisco. Every bottle I’ve had after has been an ‘08 iteration, and more flavorful, but less smooth. Still good stuff for the price! Enjoyed this one guys! 👍👍 You two are comic.
Love that you give opinions on the price for a bottle. The number one thing I look for being new to bourbon is what I should pay for certain bottles. Great video!
It's kind of great, for the longest time I was telling my friends and colleagues about McKenna BiB, but it fell on deaf ears. Now that Minnick gave it his approval people are going nuts over it. I have friends calling me asking me to help them get a bottle, you'd think it was Pappy haha.
Just got my first McKenna BiB 10 year! In VA it is $39.99 (It’s Sept 2020 btw). Mine is Barrel #8745, on 12/17/08. The first nose was fantastic!! Tastes great! Very complex however, I’m a bourbon noob. We’ll see if it keeps going up in price. Cheers
Revisiting this review because it just magically starting showing up in my market again and someone asked me what I thought a fair price was. With things like Henry Mckenna BiB, weller 107/SR, Blantons or even Bookers that used to be at a price point but have now inflated due to popularity I usually play the "law of diminishing returns" game. For me when Henry Mckenna BiB reaches the $40-45 mark I start to get better bourbons like Woodenville straight bourbon whiskey and Makers cask strength.
The history is so amazing about that family the McKenna I actually live in that family’s original house and literally right down the road is his original distillery it’s pretty amazing the rich history
August 2021 the barreled date of 2011 is showing up in limited quantities in TN for $45.99. Opened it last night. It was a great pour right out of the bottle.
Whats wild is I just bought one of these the other day. My local liquor store got a couple fresh cases and it was put into a barrel in 2008. More than likely bottled at some point this spring/summer in 2020. 11+ years old and is a peanut butter cup in a glass

Just went bottle shopping in Japan, bought two H McK 10 year bottles, about $50. Date is 2007 for entering the barrel. I could have bought three (import limit w/o paperwork), but I also got an Evan Williams 12 year - for $32. So, finding more of this IS possible.
Just bought a bottle of this today $32.99 plus tax. I got the last bottle. The store said they get about 2 cases every 2-3 months and they sell out in a couple of days each time.
It's a staple on my shelf, and thankfully easy to find here in the Denver suburbs ($54). I wouldn't give it any best-in-category awards, but it's consistently very good, regardless of the barrel (in my experience).
Glad you guys are doing this one and surprised you haven't done it before! It's been one of my favorite and go to Bourbons for a few years now and I'm super bummed the secret's gotten out and getting a bottle will be impossible now :-(
when you find something like that, buy boxes of it before everyone else discovers it. I have done this with wine and been rewarded nicely with some great buys before they have won gold medals and shot up in price and scarcity. At $28 a bottle you should have brought atleast 2 cartons if you loved it so much. Maybe remember this for your next discovery ?
There it is. Cinnamon coffee cake. Not as much cinnamon as Old Fitzgerald, but it's there. My local retailer got three cases a week ago, now they're down to 18 bottles... 16 after I got mine. It's $50 but compared to what else is out there, wow. I may get more because winter is coming.
I am SOOO Jealous! I was able to find a bottle at a state liquor store for between $22-$27. There was more than one bottle. Now, NONE in OR. And with the bourbon wins, probably will have to wait until we move to TN to find it. This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE bourbon. Enjoy your bottles. As for the McKenna, in my region in central Wisconsin, I was recently able to find a bottle for just under 40$. I agree that's a decent price range for what it is. Cheers!

It's amazing how many barrels they go though. My latest one was barreled in Sept 07 (only 11 months before yours) and it is barrel number 3798. That is over 2000 barrels in 11 months. If you think about it, that seems like too many. Might explain all the duds I've heard about.
Just bought this for the first time today in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for $67 (I think it was) and tasting it for the first time right now with Sara and Chad...although they did this five years ago, according to TH-cam.
Here is something to think about. Back in April of 2018 i bought a few bottles of this to store away. The barrel date was 2006. So that means to me that my store in PA had them for 2 years. Fast forward to after it winning, there isn't a single bottle on the shelf.
It feel like it's cool, but it sucks. I could pick it up occasionally for the same price, and now it's gone. Never got to try the Heaven Hill, so I would keep this on the shelf. BUST. I will stock up from now on. Good review!.
I've tried this stuff on and off for years based on everyone always telling me how good it is. Every time I am disappointed. All you crowd followers please keep buying this stuff up and start leaving my Weller alone. I guarantee that at least half of the people that hoard up anything that the internet tells them is good wouldn't even be able to tell the difference blind between this and Knob, or this and anything.

You guys should think about doing what you believe SHOULD have won0. Best in Show at the SF World Spirits Competition. I know I can think of three or four right off the bat without sweating it. I love Henry McKenna and though I had to stand in line for it, I would not pay over $40 for it. It's good bourbon, but it's not great bourbon.
I FINALLY found a bottle this evening, just opened it and it’s great! When I nosed it I was like “man, that smells like Kentucky” and the pallette didn’t disappoint either, really pleased with this one!

The liquor store down the road from me has ten bottles for 65.00 a bottle,he said I’m new to bourbon however I know this bourbon has doubled in price,I told him to be careful where he’s getting his info from and he should engage him self in local bourbon groups to get a better feel on fair pricing !

Have y’all ever made a video and compared the first taste to the halfway down taste. I’ve noticed that just opening a bottle and halfway down the bottle bourbon gets a lot more mellow and easier to drink
so was pappy 12 year old was only $ 39 and now look now its $600 . the 20 year old pappy was $99 10 years ago and now $1500 or more and i wonder if youll agree with the price at the end of 2020 . i just purchased a case for $ 70 a bottle .
Does anyone know to what degree the neck pour is a thing? I was sipping some Buff Trace and to be honest did not think much of it. But the other night I took another finger or two and really really enjoyed it.
Whiskey can open up and change some as it gets lower in the bottle, but whiskey can also taste different to you day to day. What you had for lunch, what type of glass you're using, if you're inside or outside, all these things can effect your experience a little bit. The next time you open something and don't like it that much, leave it in your glass and come back to it 10 to 20 minutes later and try it again. Sometimes it just needs to open up a little in the glass.
I picked up a bottle in Buffalo NY last weekend on a trip down to Pittsburgh, one of the worst bourbons I've ever had and totally undrinkable. Not sure if it was just a bad bottle or what but was totally not impressed with this. Picked it up as I was curious after hearing this and your review, wish I had opted for the Old Forester 1920 instead :(

The barrels have been inconsistent for me so I switched to 1792 FP store picks for a little more coin. Unfortunately, its almost impossible to taste the barrel the judges tried. I would agree about the $45 or pass rule. $40 even

I got 2 bottles from barrel 5833 barreled on the same day. 8/26/08. Barrels in the 5400's had a dark toffee nose and taste.
Used to be one of my favorites next to wt 101 now it’s so hard to find or limit 1 I’d pass it up sadly....

The barrels have been inconsistent for me so I switched to 1792 FP store picks for a little more coin. Unfortunately, its almost impossible to taste the barrel the judges tried. I would agree about the $45 or pass rule. $40 even
