She says “king of allocations” as if it’s a bad thing. Buffalo Trace refuses to raise prices or compromise quality to make a product more available. Give them some credit. Things like that are what make them my favorite distillery. Allocate all of it. Just keep making the best bourbons in KY.
Daniel Treadwell I see your point, Daniel, but you also have to consider the down side to allocation. What it seems to do for a lot of retailers is give them the justification to charge more for BT products because of their allocation status. It's unfortunate, but luckily BT has been building new warehouses like crazy and ramping up production. Now we just have to sit and wait for the whiskey to age :/

Doesn't stop the retailers from charging more. BT just keeps the price low on their end. Every time a store around here runs dry, it's more expensive when they get it back in. Every time.

Eagle Rare has now become my absolute favorite due to its mellow personality, lighter nose, and balanced characteristics. Before I'd ever tried it, I used to see this much more frequently on the shelves here in Missouri. Now it is hard to find and you often have to ask for it. Many places said they have continually placed orders for it, but have not had any in 6+ months. Additionally, prices have increased on it in most stores.
In short, what a wonderfully different bourbon. Your reviews are better than ever, folks!

ER is definitely one of the bottles I keep on the shelf. I love it for a daily sipper, also great for introducing new people to bourbon.

I’ve actually been finding myself circling back to regular Buffalo Trace since I can get that for like $35 and Eagle Rare has shot up to about $65 in my area- but it’s still an amazing bourbon to use to introduce someone new to bourbon.

Went out of town for breakfast, randomly stopped at Total Wine and got a bottle of Eagle Rare 10 for $32. Excited to try it!

Rewatching this cuz I picked up a bottle of ER this morning and enjoying it today. Man I forgot how smooth it was! I had to LOL when you said paying $600 for the BTAC ER was high end; it’s like $1,700-$2,000 + now in CA
And don’t get me started on the 20 year double eagle very rare. I saw one trade hands online for 20k
I watched this video at least a few weeks ago, just got around to buying a bottle and decided to pour my first glass and rewatch. This bourbon amazes me for the price!!!!
Tried this with a 72% dark chocolate and they contrasted each other very well. I have never paired the two before and it was a nice experience
This is my favorite daily. It is also my go to for cocktails. The best Manhattan I have ever had is made with Eagle Rare.

I have 10 bottles of this stuff tucked away.This is my go to stuff and good gosh when you add a few drops of water hold on to your socks.

A definite add to the bar. A perfect step up bourbon for new bourbon heads. It's great with a large icecube. The biggest draw for me is the chocolate caramel note with baking spice that this bourbon nails.. I would love this as a bottled in bond or barrel proof. This is Delightful stuff.

Eagle Rare is allocated whiskey here in Central Texas. I won the opportunity to purchase the one bottle they had around the Kentucky Derby. I enjoy it. Hope I can find more soon. Esp for $30.
This was one of the samples served after a Buffalo Trace tour. Enjoyed it, but I have yet the buy a bottle.
I brought one of these home as an inexpensive "rocks" bottle, for friends who don't like bourbon neat. It has become one of my favorite sipping bottles now.

Started to watch this then realized I wanted to open mine at the same time. Not ready yet. I tend to open in the order I purchased, so gonna be a little while. Will "revisit" this episode shortly. Keep doing what your doing.
I was very happy to find your channel in part because watching it has reminded me to revisit some "old friends" and based on this uncorking I decided to open a bottle of Eagle Rare that has been sitting on my shelf for a few years now! I had recalled that it was a nice but not special bourbon and this particular bottle was a gift that found it's way to the back of the shelf. imagine my surprise to find that it was a much nicer and more mellow bourbon that I remembered! I definitely got the chocolate notes this time around and while the finish was shorter than I normally enjoy it was still pretty nice...sort of a HALF hug :) . Now that the bottle is opened I suspect it won't last long. Thanks!
Great review! I love this bourbon. One of my favorites. I feel fortunate that this is easy to find here in north west Iowa. Especially after seeing that it’s so hard to find for some folks. So much fun to geek out on this one with other bourbon enthusiasts.

@@capsnipes26 I live in Sioux Center. When I wrote this comment 3 years ago, I could easily find it at my local Hy-Vee. Nowadays it’s different. I was lucky to get a bottle for Christmas along with some weller reserve which is even harder to find. Other than seeing 4 bottles at Fareway for the first time this past June, I have not seen any at all. People are finally starting to realize how amazing this stuff really is. It tastes like something that costs twice as much. It’s in high demand.
I always recommend this bourbon as a great value with very good flavor profile. Pick up some old fashion butterscotch candy, it goes well with almost any bourbon. Be well.
Eagle Rare is one of my go-to bourbons. Even when Buffalo Trace is not available, Eagle Rare is on the shelf.

I love bourbon with a crispy home baked chocolate chip cookie. Even with my pancakes or french toast! The sweetness from each just amplifies in your mouth.
Just had this for the first time and got a huge whiff of cream soda on the nose. good stuff!

Eagle Rare 10yr is the Bourbon that I drink. Love it, Smooth & Not too Sweet, and Glad Not Harsh Tasting.

I just bought a bottle of Eagle Rare for about $25 here in Vermont. I'm enjoying your review. It's a good thing I'm not a reviewer. My impression of this second bottle of Eagle Rare (I had tried it years ago) is: Wood, More Wood, and it also seems to have a major emphasis on the Wood flavor.
I started trying to decide if I was a fan of majorly Wood flavor Bourbon. I taste tested versus Smuggler's Notch Bourbon (sourced, but blended here in Vermont... a bit expensive, but good) and I compared it versus Clyde May's Bourbon, and E.H. Taylor Small Batch... I favor all of these other less "Woody" Bourbon to this Eagle Rare.
Now I'm trying to think of when I will be in the mood for strong Wood flavor Bourbon. I tried it over Ice... nope, that doesn't do it.

Generally hard to find in NorCal. Stumbled into a store that just got their allocation. With the case discount, got bottles at about $35. Went back a few days later to buy more and they raised the price to $60. One of my favorite, 90 proof ranged pours.
got a bottle of this recently. opened it up and as soon as i got that scent, i got a BIG smile on my face! immediately knew this was good 😁 sweet buttery almond aroma, exactly how i like it. plus, incredible value for the money, this is a 10y single barrel! makes a great mint julep too 😋
Just bought a bottle today. Great stuff! $27 bucks(I know the video is 2 years old) but I just paid $53 with tax here in South Jersey. Woodford Reserve is my go to but this is very nice as well.

I very much enjoy Eagle Rare; however, I wish it was bottled at 100 proof. I'd gladly pay a few more Dallas for it.
I had a bottle that I finally opened with some family and wow I thought it was great. It was light but still tasty. It felt like I could have drinkers this the whole day if I was alone although I never attempted.
It is the first bourbon I tried when branching out from Scotch, and I keep going back to it. I love it, even though it is the equivalent of US$60 here in Australia.
Alex Mahon is bourbon becoming popular there? I figured scotch was king and since they are so different in flavor, bourbon would be considered too sweet.
Premium Bourbon's are still hard to find, and most liquor stores don't cary much of a variety. There is plenty of the mixing bourbons (JB white label etc) but once you go above that not a great variety, so I would say it is slowly getting there but not nearly as big as Scotch.

I only stumble on a bottle of Eagle Rare in the stores a couple times a year, and always pick up a bottle (It's always limit-1), mainly because the bottle looks so nice. And for $27, it's a great deal.

My go-to bourbon. I received Eagle Rare rock glasses for Christmas and enjoy this one immensely. Getting harder to find and the price is on the rise. $35 is the typical price now in North Jersey!
For the money, in my opinion, there is nothing better.

Eagle Rare is one of the better everyday bourbons. I will admit to now wanting to try it with chocolate chips!

I just tried my first pour of Eagle Rare tonight and had a bite sized Milky Way with it and LOVED the combo.
Lately I’ve keeping a bottle of Eagle Rare around. I really enjoy it. Great price point. Above all I really like the flavor. And yeah chocolate goes really well with bourbon especially dark.

Just purchased the eagle rare to sip on my second purchase its ok for 90 proof i like 100 proof or better i like the old forester rye also it has i little more burn the 13 yr old dickle is great also for $40
Took me over a year to find this, and it was price gouged at $45.99 (Buffalo Trace was $49.99), but I just had to try it. Incredibly mellow and easygoing, also tastes like scoffing down a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. At MSRP, this would be an easy contender for a daily drinker. At the price and availability, however? Has to be an occasional sipper. Maybe even a rare sipper.
Definitely a shelf staple for me!

Try mixing equal parts with Ancho Reyes Chile Liqeuer. I like it room temp. Over ice maybe add mole bitters and lime garnish.
ER is in my top five go to bourbon I will always have it. In Texas it is getting harder to find and they are rasing prices. I got a case before it got to bad great review.
This episode made me go to the vending machine and get a Milky Way. I haven't had one of those in years!
These were the deal when Costco was doing them for 25 bucks. I always get stone fruits(peach, fresh apricots) on the nose especially as the bottle oxidizes. A solid easy drinker for sure.
I’m Texas these are definitely getting harder and harder to find.. I got 3 bottles recently just because I love this bourbon and it is getting much harder to find.

This is an excellent Bourbon for people just starting. For a Buffalo Trace product it is very available and a great price $28-32 near me for a 10 year. Smooth, sometimes it tastes to me like Knob Creek 9 yr but softer with the sharp edges rounded off. As I have progressed and found my love for barrel proof Bourbon I like it less but thats just personal preference it's still a great choice. Would be amazing if you could get it at 100 proof! As is I am using the one I have to fill my wife's flask she takes to music festivals and she always has the highest class Bourbon there.
Its hilarious to watch this and read the comments from people who must live in or around Kentucky, because this is absolutely NOT an everyday available bourbon in Kansas. Unfortunately this is an allocated bourbon in Kansas so we hardly ever see this bourbon and when we do see it, its typically in a black Friday sale.

Good review Eagle Rare is a good bourbon. Tonight I’m drinking Kentucky Vintage it has received several low reviews. I like it.
Just uncorked a bottle... been trying different bourbons since finding your channel... Eagle Rare is awesome next to Buffalo Trace. Aging makes a difference in all whiskies.

Anyway, I have a love/hate relationship with Eagle Rare. I really wish they would label their "Batches". Other Whiskies like ECBP have large variances as well, but it is easier to know what your buying with the Batch Number. Just Sayin'. My only suggestion: Buy the bottle from small store (Who would only buy a single case) and if you try it and like it, go back and buy the rest of the case. Best chance you have. 😕

I first tried this back in the very early 80's when I live in Florida. I recently found it here in Montana and love it. Eagle Rare and 101 Wild Turkey are my drinks.
Just opened a bottle of WT 101 for the first time. I have to say for $31 a handle, it definitely is an amazing buy.
This has become a staple at my local Costco, along with Elijah Craig and Woodford Reserve. Three bourbons that always seen to be on the shelf.

This certainly has been hard to find around my area. It’s ridiculous. I actually have to call around to liquor stores and see if they have any in...and if not when! I actually went to one place and was looking on the shelf for it. I didn’t even see a spot for it anywhere. I went to the counter with some other bourbons to purchase and asked where’s the spot for Eagle Rare? The lady told me they don’t keep it on the shelf, they keep them behind the counter. Behind the counter???!!! Seriously?? Why?? She said because they go so fast. I said....so what!! I then said “so do you have any back there?” She said I have 2 bottles and one is already accounted for. I said for god sakes give me the other!! Silly. It’s great bourbon, but damn not one that should be THIS hard to come by :-)
Just had a nearly identical experience. I finally said "am I ever going to see Eagle Rare here?"....zammo....from the back room appeared a bottle for me....albeit $42
This was my gateway bourbon, still easy to find in the detroit metro.
Drinking Eagle Rare right now while smoking some fine English Tobacco in one of my favorite pipes.
It’s unbelievable that the stores that have this in stock are charging $90-100 for the standard eagle rare. I haven’t seen a bottle in a major store in a month and all the “local” stores are marking it up 300%
So I agree with all of your tasting notes... however this bottle I just cracked on a square rock seems to have a pretty pronounced spearmint note lingering. It’s not bad, it’s enjoyable. Just a different experience than before

It's an easy sipper but needs more abv to make it's flavours pop . It's a bit watered down imo. $57 in Ontario and extremely difficult to find as well. In my opinion Four Roses Single Barrel at $53 is tuff to beat.
Also I watched your review on Weller 107 .... so went I hunting ... I was lucky to end up getting a couple bottles and I was impressed with that product . So it was great advice , but it is extremely difficult to get as well . Paid $65 each and worth it. 👍
I have actually had this with chocolate chips before. From the suggestion that Sarah made in a previous video. I believe that video was about 1792 full proof if I remember correctly?? Anyway, it’s really good I think.
