Do alloys change a lot rim to rim
Do you have to worry about expansion coefficients, or not mixing
Or any hazards like magnesium catching fire
Is it pretty obvious which materials the rim is, or are they pretty forgiving and close enough is fine
What other things should we check for signing off, go no go toe stuff
If it's bent I'd it ok to bend it back
If the crack is on the spokes, or greater than a certain size
Etc
yes alloys change from rim to rim, I use 4043 Aluminum rod for all of it, and it works really good.
No you don't have to worry about expansion or anything catching fire.
most the rims are close to pure aluminum, Tesla wheels are the cleanest, but wheels from the 1970s or china are the dirtiest.
if the rim is bent I would heat it up a little but with a small torch and try to bend it back before welding it.
if its cracked on the spokes, if chunks are missing, if its nearly cracked in half, if the spokes are cracked through the barrel etc, I turn them down. Usually, the only repairs I do is the small cracks on the lip about 1.5" long or less that's leaking air, they are the most common repairs.
use your best judgment when doing this. sometimes you might feel a repair might be too much and the best most safe option would be for the client to get a new rim.

Could be a lot of factors bro, who made the wheel, how bad the roads are your driving on, who fixed it, and how they fixed it, what aluminum rod they used, if your letting your girl drive your car 😂 😂 could be a number of things
I did this repair several times for a 1 inch crack for my f10 528i rear rims and every then the crack reappears after spending alot of cash. Is there any permanent fix? Please help. Thank you.
I have only had one come back and I have been doing it for a while now. Sometimes these wheels seem dirty and don't weld very clean, even after excessive preparation. If it keeps cracking, the only permanent fix is a new rim brotha.

I think I was using the Everest in this video. Buy I usually use a Miller 180.
Penetration is always the most important.

how did you get liability insurance to repair alloy wheels ,,, did they ask for qualifications , or experience , did you get five or ten million on public liability or just product indemnity insurance ,,,, ??

Your funny my friend. I guarantee iv welded more wheels than you. I know exactly what I'm doing. I'm not welding a gas tank and trying to lay dimes. I'm filling my bevel with aluminum while making sure it's consistent. The wheel was already straightened by by boys down and wheel repair guys if NM. Your comment is not valid
