    How long did you wait before you started sanding it down cause I have it on right now and I started around 6 or 5 ish and it’s about 11 now

    • @cashhacks3792
      @cashhacks3792  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I waited until it was fully cured, 15 hours. It was easier to smooth it on with my finger and skip sanding. If you have to sand it use a rougher grit like 80 or less

    • @joedirt2768
      @joedirt2768 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I wait 15 hours instead so it can cure then sand it down, cause I put a pretty good amount on it or wait like 3 more hours then sand it down

      @@joedirt2768 I would wait at least for it to be fully cured. Between 15 total hours and 24. If not it wont sand properly. It'll crumble and leave pits

    I tried it it worked, I used jb steel first to push it down inside the crack just kept pushing until I got a build up . Sand it down then came back with jb liquid like he had left it smooth finished no sanding. The wheel I fixed held up then another wheel cracked I told him to find a set of wheels. I'd rather have one flat on side the road than two.

    • @cashhacks3792
      @cashhacks3792  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The longest lasting repair was 33 consecutive days for 3 main reasons.
      1. After removing the tire and cleaning the cracks to bare metal I filled the crack with JB Weld.
      2. Smoothing it over (not sanding) leaving the most material and letting it fully cure.
      3. Adding silicone at the tire shop.
      I would repeat this process if I had cracked a rim for the first time ir needed some time before replacing a previously cracked rim like in this case.

    • @romeorobertson4387
      @romeorobertson4387 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think in my opinion, if you grind out the Crack to make a tunnel, Instead of just overlaying it on the existing Crack. In other words drill and grind out the Crack completely and then add JB weld to the rim, smooth it into the valley you've ground out, leaving some residual to sand out and smooth it. If I Crack my rim, I'll try that technique. Thanks for sharing! 👍

    Stumbled across this video while surfing for repair vids. Made it 15 minutes through and had to stop. There is no way this kind of repair held up. When it cracked during tire installation, it should have been obvious that the steps taken skipped a vital one. Professionals would have created space in the crack for the new material, merely pasting JB weld over a crack and sanding most of the JB weld away to smooth it out made the entire process a waste of time. I see an update video in the side bar, let's see if any lessons were learned.

    The problem is you and your driving. You probably should stop using that size wheels and low pro tires since you cant seem to stay away from potholes.

      I drive everyday and sometimes daily commuting makes you miss at least 3 out of 100 potholes and sometimes it happens even when going slow 😂 I cracked 2 of my 18 inch rims by going 15 Miles

    If you don't drink Henny just one time, you can weld that rim and ride on highway at 80mph with piece of mind. Now every time you see a bump, you will worry about breaking the rim again.

    do not use any autozone products to fix your rims, get it properly welded somewhere.
    this is a cheap poor man fix and it will get messed up again. you can tell how he drives by looking at his rims tons of cracks from speeding and hitting potholes. he needs new rims those are ugly and brutally abused.

      You're 100% right 😆. They were doing alot of road construction in my area at that time. I did get new rims about 2 months later when they finally arrived at the wheel shop but the JB Weld got me thru until the new ones came in 😜

    got to be fucking nuts to use jb weld to repair cracked wheel rims..... its out and out illegal to repair using stuff like that on wheels. you have lost all the strength in the wheels........ i would not use that on a pushbike wheel.

    I charge the customer if they bring rims in with this garbage on them. It doesn't work and sucks to clean ao that the proper repair can be made.

    Good effort but Man!! It's time for new wheels. That car is heavy. Get thicker tires. How much to weld it prosesionally?

      Welding would be more than replacing. Eventually i did replace them but shipping post covid was crazy lol.
