  • One of the best things about metal detecting old house permissions is that you can find almost anything made at almost anytime! The possibilities are endless and each hole can be a total mystery as your shovel hits the ground. Now after doing this for many years, most things we can identify pretty quickly, but when a good mystery piece surfaces those are always fascinating. People often ask what's on my bucket list of things to find and honestly it's probably anything I've just never found before.

Your bullet at 6:40 appears to be a Thompson/Center Maxi-Ball. And your "key" at about 17:10 reminds me greatly of a tool that came with the very early Singer electric sewing machines.

Really nice assortment of finds, guys! I really liked that key especially - it's always nice when you score a unique looking key. My guess is maybe a clock key. Can't go wrong with the Indian Head penny either. That's my fav coin. I liked Charlie's t-shirt too! Thanks for sharing! GL&HH!

I think that key was a watchmen clock key. They would get to certain stations on their rounds and use a key to turn the clock mechanism they carried. Each key was different. My momma had my grandmothers old bell that was very similar to that one. We lived on a farm. She would ring it when it was time for us to come in.

I believe these were meant for target. Not really meant for hunting. They're designed to cut the paper target to leave a clean shot for grading the shot. Not saying that's fact, but thats what I was taught years ago and it makes sence.

As a shooter, I'd guess the thing you found at 8:00 would be some sort of of shotgun slug. There are hundreds of designs of those. I dont think I've ever seen a civil war bullet that looked like that, especially without the concave base. Except for William cleaner bullets. But the base plate of those has a much thinner stem. There is also no rifleing on the bullet... Little to no damage of any to speak of actually. Hmmm it's a head scratcher but I wouldn't think civil war. Era, perhaps.

That three ring bullet is most likely a chess piece made by a soldier

Not 100% sure but pretty confident that the key is for the early Pancake design Padlocks that were in use back in the last century. Maybe circa 20s or 30s? Cheers:-)

Your last find that you suspected was a key looks like a key for a Champion 6-Lever or Miller's 6-lever padlock. Really cool padlocks.

It’s been fun watching you guys find such interesting things! I took a screenshot of the ‘key’ you found with the 3 holes in the top; and found something very similar with a google search; saying ‘Key for Metal toilet tissue dispenser’ which I thought ‘hhmmmm, I don’t know what that is…. but I wasn’t around till 1967; so that might obviously be much older. Great channel!

17:15 almost certain antique padlock key. NOT model A, model T, grandfather clock, gas light, water valve, lawnmower or golf divot key. At first I thought handcuff or leg irons, but no. Not roller skate key either

That is a cabinet key. Secretary, roll top, book cabinet. Not very common. Nice.
