How did you push pull and have the rear face end up perfectly flat? whenever i joint push pull, it ends up with the same profile as the original ripple?

Pick the orange push-pull icon (with a little X).
Push-Pull Surface
in the Joint push-pull option bar in "Misc." section click on "Flatten the top face of the extruded shape "
