You are incredible at teaching. I've modeled an entire house in Sketchup and then transferred it to Layout with floorplans and various viewpoints, all within one week of opening Sketchup for the first time ever-just from watching your videos. Now I'm onto a new project, trying to model a site in Uganda where the NGO I run is setting up a water service, and once again, your videos have rapid-fired knowledge and skills into my brain. It's like I'm matrix downloading skills, that's how good your videos are.
I realize this tutorial is almost three years old and there may be newer magic available now, but this was very very helpful. I'm switching over my CAD stuff to SketchUp Pro, and about ready to model a new house I'm designing, hoping to "place" it on a geolocated terrain model. So this--along with many of your other toots--was most welcome. Thanks again! Thom Lipiczky
Justin hello! Thanks for your tutorial. I'm an oldie-but-goodie (pre-computer age) back at school at UDC. Before I knew about all this I created my own terrain in SketchUp which is ass backwards. Because I think in reality as an adult you almost never have a flat surface to build on. Thanx!
Lol - you pretty much never get to start with a completely flat surface - that's why we have to hire earthwork contractors! :) Glad you found it helpful!
This offers so much opportunity for presentation of a proposed building to councils for approval purposes. Your detail is brilliant but perhaps a little more video clarity on the actual control keys for these operations would help. thanks for your great video.
Thanks for the feedback Darin - I probably should have spent a bit more time on the actual operation of the extensions - maybe an opportunity for a follow up video! Thanks again!
I agree with Darin, the Joint Push Pull along with slicer is a very quick and efficient tool for creating terrain.... However, for future video presentations I would appreciate a much more direct step by step in creating a simple terrain ( hold off on the sideline comments). Then address variations of results AFTER the initial process is revealed. Thank you for the time and effort, regardless.
Awesome! Thanks I have a large piece of property with terrain and I am designing the land planning. I want to see the low areas in order to provide lakes in them.
