If they remove all the stock Samsung apps in favor of Google apps, you might as well buy a pixel device at that point. The whole reason of buying a Samsung device is to get those specialized apps that are supposed to work better and have better features.
Thank you, Jeff, for this video. My issue is how Samsung implemented this change. I did not know that they were removing Samsung Messages when I upgraded to the Fold 6 and turned in my previous fold. I had done a full backup with Samsung Switch but when I went to restore that backup I had no messages. Even when I downloaded the Samsung messages app, there were no messages to restore. My last complete back up was a year ago so I lost a whole year's worth of messages which is important for me since I use SMS messaging for a lot of my personal and business life. If I had known about this change, I could have converted the messages to Google Messages and then did the back up. It may be worth a video showing people how to do this before they lose their messages as well.
A few weeks ago, Samsung announced that Google Messages would become the default messaging app on all new devices released after the Galaxy S24. Users with older models were assured that they would not be affected by this change. However, Samsung recently announced that they will be removing Samsung Messages from older models as well.💔 This news has been met with disappointment by many Samsung users. At this point, Samsung has decided to go against the will of loyal users to allow Google to invade our privacy and gain even more access to our personal information. The only way to ensure manufacturers will listen to our concerns is to stop buying their products. I anticipate that their next move will be to mandate the use of Google Photos in place of the Samsung Photos application. After being a loyal Samsung user for a decade, I am seriously considering looking elsewhere.👀🍎
Crap! I still rock my Note 10+ and just started get the Google messages prompt. So this explains it. I tried Google messages over a year ago and I didn't like it then or now. And customization is a big deal to most folks...
Here's the thing, in order for Android to start building it's ecosystem up with each brand, it makes sense to use one messaging app across all the different brands. That being said, I'm never a fan of these companies taking away choices from the customers. That is what separates android from iPhone. In my opinion, Samsung should offer it's owners the option during setup to use either the Samsung branded apps or the Google apps. That way we can decide which set of apps we want on our device. Plus that would also eliminate unnecessary bloatware.
@@brittnipackardrodrigues6164 You still have access to messages from your phone on both of those devices when using google messages (turn on "text on galaxy devices" in google messages under settings -> advanced -> Text on Galaxy devices). Download google messages on the tablet and sign into your google account on it and it will be a 1:1 sync of the messages on your phone. Go to the google messages website and sign into your account on the laptop and let it make a shortcut in your taskbar when you click "install 'X'' app" where the url is (if you are using a chromium-based browser). Samsung is on a wrong trajectory just like Apple was .. But one advantage that Apple had was that it didnt lose it individuality .. By resorting to such moves, Samsung is doing just that while not paying a heed to what customers want !!
So I guess it has started already, people are sending messages and I'm not getting it . I'm forced to use Google messages. I hate the way it looks so outdated, let alone I don't know how to completely mute a chat conversation.

RCS is Rich Communication Service. RCS is Chat Massage same iMessage on Iphone. RCS is the same Chat Feature on Samsung Massage.
I do get messages on samsung messages but I can't find the app in my phone, is It the same problem?
Samsung is on a wrong trajectory just like Apple was .. But one advantage that Apple had was that it didnt lose it individuality .. By resorting to such moves, Samsung is doing just that while not paying a heed to what customers want !!
I hav ethe fold 5 if they remove it does that mean we can write with the spen still to send txt messages? ??
So I guess it has started already, people are sending messages and I'm not getting it . I'm forced to use Google messages. I hate the way it looks so outdated, let alone I don't know how to completely mute a chat conversation.
I just got the flip 6 and I'm pissed they took away Samsung messaging. I did download it and lots of glitches. I'm so upset. Think imma switch to the 5
If Samsung removed their app as the default messenger app, then it's all down hill from here in terms of features and support. So switch now.
Thanks 👍😊
Appreciate you!!
I got Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra a month ago. It came with a new google messages, but Went to settings.
And hit apps and you can change your back to samsung messages
What is your take, now that Verizon has pushed a notice out out that it is shutting down Message+?
Your right google messages were set as a default message app
And it sucks ass 😩😫 i love Samsung messages
I hope Google Messages will let me receive individual replies from people in group Messages and attachment messages. I don't like the whole group being able to see each other's replies to a mms message i send.
So if you have a carrier device samsung messages is still pre installed?
Probably not. For the s24 series it was but doubtful for s25
Its about time. Ridiculous to have redundancies pick one and go with it Google messages is better.
