This was amazing man you were working like a professional on these wheels I would have just sanded it and painted over and got done with it. You did it properly to 💯% perfection
Thank you sir ☺️ The initial plan when I bought them was just that, a simple repair with putty and then some coats of silver! But then I decided to challenge myself and see if I can get them a proper darker grey finish. Never did a similar job, but working on model cars gives you a basic idea of what needs to be done! Thanks again for checking out my video and leaving your feedback. That is very appreciated ☺️👍
11:21 until 11:24, I see flaws & dust/trash in your clearcoat. Also, the last coat, while spraying paint, should be an overspray of the entire wheel to blend all the small prior sprays together seamlessly. This provides a uniform appearance. Besides that, they look fair enough from about 3 ft away. The details matter.
Hello Phillip, first of all thank you for viewing the video and leaving your feedback. Appreciated 👍🏼 You are right about the flaws, I should have been a little more careful and maybe clean the environment better. This was my first time doing something at this scale, using the skills and tools I gained from building car model kits. However I still decided to film the process to let others know that with some basic knowledge and tools you can still do a fair enough job yourself 😊 Thanks again 👍🏼
@KarlScaleModeling yes, I'm just trying to be helpful, not critical. we can all learn more. I agree that the environment is wht cause this, but u can only clean so much I get it. I get similar results sometimes. The way to cure it, after the fact, is allow the paint to cure (about 36 - 48 hrs), then do a light wet sanding with 1,500 grit and wipe clean. This step removes both orange peel texture and dust / trash. Now that the parts are smooth, but with a matte finish, just spray them with one (1 ) medium coat of clear and watch them pop like new. This is called flow coating, and works even better if the clear is reduced 10% - 15% with reducer (same as u mixed with the paint, only it's just a small amount in this case and not like 50%). Thinned out in this way, the clear lays down, and no orange peel.
Exactly Phillip, I love receiving helpful comments because they help me improve my work. And once again, many thanks for your detailed reply, that's very appreciated. Makes a lot of sense to do the procedure you explained as you'll achieve the best possible finish. This time I skipped that step, but if I had to refurbish them again in the future, I'll definitely do that. Thanks again 😊
The back of the wheels were well cleaned, sanded lightly and sprayed with a spray can in light gun metal. Before spraying I obviously masked the spokes openings from the back to cover the newly sprayed face of the rims. Hope that helps 👍🏼

Ese color está muy brutaaaaal!!! Tremendo trabajo bro
Thanks for your feedback. Colour is from a Honda Accord! Thought I would go for something different and darker than the original silver ☺️

What about the back of the wheel

Man they came out awesome. How did all 4 take you?
Hello John, thanks for your feedback. That's very appreciated. What is your question exactly pls? How much time did all 4 take to do?
These wheels look like brand new ones now 😳
Thank you my friend, that is what I tried to achieve. A finish that makes the rims look like they're brand new. Glad I managed to achieve that ☺️👍
👍👍👍
Thank you Michael, very appreciated like always ☺️👍🏼
