What did you think about this axe? Anything you think I should have added or done differently?
Should of gold inlayed your makers mark in the center of the engraving, looks off with just the lines but I love the purple heart handle. Only thing I would of changed about the handle would of been to use a contrasting wooden wedge like hard maple. Looks great!
looks absolutly insane but the shape reminded me of the batman logo somhow
@@kermitderfrosch5432 you beat me to it, and that’s the exact same thought I had, Batman logo is all but there, and this finished product is already off the charts with quality but that’s the one suggestion I’d have 😂
@@kermitderfrosch5432 same lol
Not going to lie after I saw your copper Damascus work I started looking for more things like that and nothing I found was as good as your work
I’ve been watching this channel for a while now, and honestly, it’s a privilege to watch someone as talented as you do their thing and do it in such a fine and meticulous way.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you following the channel!
@@TyrellKnifeworks No problem man, keep doing what you do best.
To everyone involved in this challenge,
I have been watching most of you for quite a while. I am a huge supporter of small businesses, especially those that create and add a sense of community. All of you have done a great job doing both of those things. Thank you for sharing your journey’s with us. Good luck everyone
Thanks for watching all the builds, Chad! 👍
That pattern is insane. Those lines following the profile of the blade as it flares out looks amazing.
Thanks for checking it out, Bernhard!
That pattern is freaking awesome! Really makes it stand out and look the part of a functional battle axe!
Thanks for watching this build!
Amazing build, also very cool of you to support and give props to such a young maker for the draw knife.
This whole challenge is about promoting makers. 👍. Thanks for watching!
Hello! Jaxon Bennion here, the guy who made the drawknife, I had a great time making it and was so excited to see how it was used!
@@jaxonbennion8764 Thanks again! The draw knife worked out great.
I love the fact you explain everything you're doing as you go through the process, amazing work as always 🤙
Thanks for checking out this build!
This thing is just beautiful. Been really getting into axes, knives, and any other types of Damascus blades lately and everything I see on this channel is just amazing. Keep up the good work, look forward to the next project
Stay tuned for a really cool Damascus dagger and a Damascus hammer. 😉. Thanks for watching
Amazing as always, Denis T.. I really enjoy just staring at that striped pattern of the axe head, and color choice went well. Good luck to all the competitors (and judges) with the competition.
Thanks for watching, Byron!
Absolutely gorgeous work Dennis! That’s one of the coolest axes I’ve seen!
Thanks for watching, Ben!
I love the challenges, I love the community and how wholesome it is here in the comments. I hope I can at least make something of sorts with steel before I die.
This is the best community! Give it a try sometime. 👍. Thanks for watching
Lovely looking Axe and a great build. Good luck for the judging!
This one did indeed win the best judge's build. Thanks for watching!
It looks fantastic. A very great job.
Thanks for checking it out!
Sir, you have earned yourself a subscriber. I’m really glad that TH-cam algorithm suggested me this video & I just loved it. Your narration style is really commendable, the way that you described the entire process of making this badass axe, really made me think that I too can make one of these bad boys (honestly speaking I can never ever think of building anything like this). Kudos to you & your team who have made this masterpiece! 👍😊👏
Thanks so much! Welcome to the channel. Lots of other cool videos in the library and always more builds coming. 👍

Thanks for watching, Jeffrey!
And another awesome creation comes to life at Tyrell Knifeworks. What a beautiful axe you've made.
Thanks for taking a look!
I absolutely love this purple heart handle! Such amazing color! I knew the Axe making is very difficult but I didn't expect it takes so long! 40min to drift an eye?! My god, you spend hours to forge it! Another beautiful piece from your workshop Denis! And, btw: I have no idea how did you etch this axe with the handle on it:P!
The handle was coated with nail polish to protect the wood and then removed later with acetone. Thanks for watching, David!
Beautiful work as always! Not a huge fan of the gold inlay for this piece but overall, great job. You never cease to amaze me with your functional art!
Thanks for checking it out! Be sure to vote!
Beautiful, of course! I just did a knife with essentially the same layering pattern except I didn't forge one billet down and restack it like you did, which I'm sure explains why your pattern is rather a lot more interesting than mine. Thanks for sharing your process.
Keep at it, Bryson. Thanks for watching!
Outstanding!
Thanks for taking a look, Jackson!
Spectacular build great job getting that eye centered.
Thanks buddy! Hopefully we can get these hammer eyes straight as well. 😜
This is beautiful, an amazing piece of work, such skill.

Thanks for watching!
You really make great knives and now that ax is awesome and it’s awesome that you always give credit where it’s due I also enjoy watching the challenges all you builders do fantastic work thanks for sharing
Thanks for following along, Miguel!
That's got to be one Bad Ass Axe my friend. If I owned that axe, it would be in a glass box. It would have a sign saying, Break Glass only if you see Russians. All jokes aside, that's a beautiful work of art.. Enjoyed every minute of it!!!!!!!!!!!
It’d be a big case, it’s a 36” axe! 😜Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome work man I love that pattern!
Thanks for being part of this challenge, John. I have a buddy over this weekend and we’re doing g a collab so I haven’t had a chance to watch any of the other builds yet but I’ll get to them tonight! 👍
Amazing work as always
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome profile shape, dude. Like a cool half-batwing. Top job!
Thanks for checking it out!
Ohh, that may be your most impressive piece to date. Course having worked with purpleheart exactly once and will never again, you did suffer for your art in this one
I don't mind purpleheart. Some people don't like the smell, but it doesn't smell back to me. Thanks for watching, Kris
Looks awesome pal. Very nice. Luv Axes. 👌😍
Thanks for taking a look!
That is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to have that displayed in my house.
Thanks for taking a look, Richard!
Awesome work, Denis! That turned out so cool! That money on the purpleheart was well spent
Thanks, Sven! I have a buddy over this weekend for a collab project so I haven’t watched any other builds yet, but will soon!
Smart choice on the Damascus pattern orientation. The back spike reminds me of some halberd spikes (the head in general could be made for that purpose too). It would have been cool if you added some Damascus going perpendicular to the axe body’s pattern for the axe edge since many axes would have steel inserts into a mild steel or iron body. But in all seriousness, the multi-layer pattern is great.
Thanks for checking out this build, Dan!
Awesome very beautiful work
Thanks for checking it out!
WOW...the blade ,the handle...is just WOW.
Thanks for watching!
How sick is this! 👏👏👏

I love how the handle contrasts the axe head. The pink/purple heart looks stellar with all of the bold 15n20/1084.
Thanks for checking it out, Justin!

Just wanted to comment badass axe Denis! You killed it and thanks for putting this all together! I’ll have to watch the video later as I’m working today.
Thanks for all your help on this!
Looks great brother!
Thanks for checking it out, Tony!
I made an axe handle in purpleheart as well once.. wait, actually twice now, lol.. The first one I tried to do with a draw knife, but Pheart has a nasty propensity to grow really fast in the summer and not much at all during the winter, so I kept ending up pulling the draw knife into the grain and it would catch. it was unbelievably aggravating until I picked up a spokeshave, and all of the sudden it was a cakewalk. The spokeshave wasn't as good for actually shaping the majority of the handle, but it saved me a ton of sanding work! I love your design, and your damascus, as always, is top notch!
I used a really heavy duty wood rasp and that worked well after the draw knife. Thanks for watching
Beautiful axe. Drifting the eye is definitely the most challenging part.
I've learned the key is correct it early. The longer you let it go, the worse it gets and its harder to get it back later. Thanks for watching, JP! I'll get to watching all the other videos soon!
You sir are an amazing craftsman. Your attention to detail is superb. One day I hope to cross paths with you.
I’ll be at Blade show in Atlanta in June in case you’re around then. Thanks for watching, Randy.
Love your craft 💯
