Why I Won't be Staying at the Flamingo in Las Vegas Again

  • In this video we stay and review The Flamingo Hotel and Casino. This property is rich in history and conveniently located in the center of the Las Vegas Strip. This is cheap travel option for anyone looking to save money for the slots but unfortunately you're going to have to give up on comfortless, at least from my point of view! I don't think I'll be staying here again.

Dude, you would pick In and Out over Bugsy and Meyer's??? You are crazy! Yeah the price is steep, but it's the strip for crying out loud. My steak was probably the best steak I've ever had at a steakhouse and I would recommend restaurant to everybody. As for the property? I don't think you can beat the price, considering the location and the history. My only gripe is the checking in process, other than that, no complaints.

Flamingo 🦩 is definitely a classic , a lot of history for being here in Vegas since 1946. I’m hoping that it will still be here in 2026 to celebrate the 80th anniversary. The LINQ promenade been here for almost 10 years, I still remember seeing the high roller Ferris wheel 🎡 get built from the ground up which is insane. The pool 🏊‍♂️ is amazing and I like your sunglasses 😎. You and your girlfriend are a really cute couple, and I saw Wayne Newton outside the property last month when I was at the Strip. As a Vegas native, views like the one from your room is so beautiful 😍. The Bugsy & Meyers steakhouse looks amazing , and prices like $25 bucks for a cocktail 🍸 is expected considering you’re on the famous Strip. Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies , and thanks for sharing your content with us and especially for those who love to come visit us here in Las Vegas ❤️

I just stayed at Flamingo for the first time, and overall it was a great experience from beginning to end. I didn't notice any bad smells at all. The location is perfect. You can walk to everything, including the promenade (nicer than the strip with plenty of places to eat and the High Roller wheel), the monorail, and the Strip. The pool was great, although you have to get there 15-20 minutes before 9 am to get a chair. The room was clean and spacious, and includes a real fridge. The room could have been updated a bit more, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I didn't want housekeeping, but when I saw them in the hallway they were great about giving me anything I needed. I had plenty of soap and shampoo in the bathroom. I like the wildlife area, too. I liked that I could check out on my phone. My only dislike: when you check in, you can't talk to a real person. They shuffle you to a kiosk. Fortunately, it worked. Also, the food court is awful. They need to upgrade it. There were many other restaurants on property and nearby, however,

@@Vegas-Must-Try if a hotel can’t get the basics of providing a clean comfortable room that doesn’t smell like weed…. No reason to stay. I know everyone says.. you don’t go for the room.. that’s BS.. you gonna need to sleep.. Excalibur is a shithole and the furniture is from the 90s but it’s usually always clean… fresh. AC works great and is in the middle of it all and it’s quiet(usually). If the Flamingo is at least that, I’d stay… but I also choose the Excalibur cause it does have good cheap food options unlike the Flamingo but at least you’ve the Linq promenade there.

Just stayed at this hotel as of last week.
I had two complaints that I made at the checkout process.
1- I hadn’t had housekeeping for 3 days, even thought I called and formally requested it after being informed that they only did housekeeping on request (discovered that after the 1st night when returning to an untidy bedroom).
2- the resort fee of 42 dollars a night includes internet access for 2 devices, mine worked fine… wife’s did not.
3- the pool has no control access so, in my view, not that secure.
Other than that, it was a great stay at a very good location at the Strip and with a convenient monorail station at the property

I stayed at Flamingo once, back in the day. I remember the hotel hallway being dark, or dim, as if they didn't want you to see that it needed to be renovated. I didn't think it was that much better than the Imperial Palace, not a big upgrade. Back in those days, the highest "resort fee" was like $14.99, and they only had them at MGM and Harrah's. Flamingo puts that scent in their air circulation system, that's why the casino smells like that. You don't need to say "water turtle." Almost all turtles live in the water; the ones on land are almost all tortoises.

Great video Jorge. I went to Flamingo last year in August. The standard double queen room was underwhelming and the furniture needed updating. I did like the pool scene but the fact you cannot bring outside drinks is a turn-off. I would only stay here for the location on the strip and the price.

Great video! What would you think about staying here for something like March Madness, where room prices will be super high BUT something like this would be a great central locale you can dive all over the strip (and even go to Fremont) from? Worth it or keep looking?

I stay at Flamingo or Linq for their room rates. BUT....I avoid weekends & the whole summer. By going off peak season & during the week, I get favorable rates. As far as the casino, I spend very little time inside. Instead, I enjoy the room rates & spend my savings outside on the strip, in the Linq Promenade or on Fremont Street.

George! I was looking for you when I was in Vegas and if you filmed this recently, I may have just missed you. We were at the Flamingo Sun the 6th-Wed the 9th. I enjoyed it for the most part.
Was there for my birthday and asked for an upgrade and they basically said whatever the computer offers on the check in kiosk is it. We got a Go room on the 22nd floor and had the same view you did, just on the other side of the building (the wing to the right of you when you’re facing the window).
The smell wasn’t anything too bad that I noticed and I have a strong sense of smell. Didn’t see any transients in the casino.
Loved the Promenade and ate at Yardhouse one night, the food was excellent.
ETA: we had individual shampoo/conditioner/bars of soap in the Go rooms.

The Flamingo is probably the best budget hotel for a first-time visitor to the strip. You can't beat the location. Make sure you get a non-smoking room with a high roller view. The strip view rooms are very noisy. The smell of pot is the worst part of the stay. Just make sure you are on a non-smoking floor.

FLV K. flamingo king bed. In a 4k room hotel it’s hard to sort linen. You have king bed and queen beds sheets all mixed in. Fasted way to sort is to look at the marking. It’s tacky, but helpful for the associates.

The FLVK is probably just an internal label that most likely stands for Flamingo Las Vegas King. Maybe when the warehouse is designating mattresses for properties. Makes for easier sorting

The pool at the Flamingo is warm too! Sucks when it’s 111* outside & you can’t even cool off in the Pool. I’m never staying there again! Also, I had to switch rooms, cuz they put me in an older one, which had gnats in the bathroom. It was disgusting!

Many of these vloggers are paid or given comps to give positive reviews. Easy to see when the vlogger had to pay…reviews are *nearly* always negative. If you want to stay at the Flamingo, do so. It’s full of cool history, has character and is a nice place. It’s not The Wynn; you want bougie…go there. You want a fun time at a reasonable price? Flamingo 😊

I've been "fortunate" (or should I say unfortunate) to stay in the other types of rooms and suites other than the most recent room you mentioned. Ok showing my age, 30 years ago they did the first major reno. They opened the buffet and all of the rooms were newly reno'ed. The elevators were all redone with smoked colored glass. Up until this recent they were in horrible condition. Nice to see Caesars' finally put some $ into the place.

Stayed at the Flamingo last June pretty much in the same sort of room you did. You're not wrong about most of the negative stuff you mentioned, but it didn't affect us to the same extent I guess. Skipped eating at the hotel excerpt one night at Margaritaville, as the Linq Promenade was literally right out the door and that great Chinese place is right across the street at Caesar's (Beijing Noodle No. 9). I was happy with our stay, but would probably stay at Caesar's again in the future. Same great center Strip location but a nicer hotel you can still get decent deals at...

  • @kvom01
    @kvom01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree with his pros, but not the cons. I have stayed often and never noticed bad smells anywhere, but then my sense of smell isn't the best. Lack of dining in the hotel is irrelevant given how much there is close by; I've eaten at Bugsy's but not otherwise and not missed it. The upcoming Cuban restaurant may be worthwhile. And not liking the casino is again not much of a con given that there are dozens a short walk away. I don't like the soap dispensers in the shower either, but I take bar soap with me when traveling. I'm not sure what the marking on the mattress means, but it didn't seem nefarious. As for wifi, I haven't had any issues with speed, but I'm not streaming either.

I saw a video on soap bar recycling in vegas and I get why they have dispensers now! Drinks look great but too expensive! Gotta have the Modelo Chilladas! Love the view from the room, but the price is a bit high weekdays with the extra fees! OMG parking too?!!! Love the fridge! I think you will like the Signature suites better!!!

They called it The Linq when The Linq (casino) was called The Quad and it was meant to link it to the Flamingo. That didn't last long as it was quickly rebranded to The Linq; something to do with The Quad being associated with the number four which is unlucky in some Asian cultures so they were losing gamblers. That's the story I heard anyway.
