Sorry dude, but I would never, ever forget "Ditketh". I saw it when it aired originally and still refer to him as "Ditketh". Thanx though for this opportunity to relive the moment.
@@amyhill4002 What about him? If you notice I mentioned Ditka, Sayers, and Butkus as they were teammates from 1965-66. They played in the same era, Payton was much later. I could have mentioned many more. Singletary, Buffone, Grange, Hampton, George, Atkins, Dent, Urlacher, etc.

The NFL today seems to think it’s some political organization. It’s nauseating watching all of these assholes and all of these other big corporations try to pretend like all of these social issues. Seriously, I miss the days when people did a better job of staying in their lane.
Papa Bear is the most important, Ditka and Payton were the most beloved. Butkus was the most feared, Sayers was the most marveled at. Cutler was the most hated.
He may not have been the very best foot ball coach but at least he was honest and a brilliant person and gave the best after game press conferences. The 85 bears reflected Iron Mike , what a fun team to watch play the game . It is not quite like this anymore.
Buddy Ryan was the DC for Neill Armstrong for four years before Ditka became HC of the Bears. In those four years, the Bears made one Playoff appearance and lost, albeit on a Controversial call early in the game. With that said, the Bears were still a Mess under Armstrong. They were playing Namby Pamby football. Halas hired Ditka to basically bring back the Toughness that Chicago was known for when Mike played. And He did just that. By His third season as HC of the Bears, they made the Playoffs and went to the Championship game. Next season, A Super Bowl Victory. Even though Ryan was kept as Ditka's DC in '82, it was Mike Ditka who got those Guys believing in Themselves and Playing as a Team that got Them to a Super Bowl Win.
I remember listening to the radio before spring season in 85 and somebody said who's going to win the superbowll and a guy said chicago they look like the monsters of the midway wow I watched them all year stomping ass that's my team of all times chicago baby loved Mike loved them all
So Mike comes off the greatest team that could be assembled and later they wanted him to match that impossible and Mike knew that that's why he acted like he did there will never be a team near as good as the 85 🐻
I disagree. Knight humiliates and bullies. Ditka just messes with them a little or a lot. Mike also gets profane only once in a while. Bobby could really coach basketball, but getting kicked while he was down was what he did for years to others. Looking the other way with Knight while he was winning has bought IN basketball a load of well deserved mediocrity and bad karma.

Mike Ditka is George Halas reincarnated. I hope some day the bears hire an ex bear like old man Halas did. I’m not going to hold my breath on that one. They’ll keep hiring 2 bit corrdinators who will botch it year and out.
The worst thing is that the Bears especially with Dikta after they accomplished that success in the Super Bowl that they were victims of the high life. Doing all those commercials, being in the spotlight, and the inflated egos especially with Jim McMahon led to their lightning in a bottle. The sad thing is that in 1986 the defense was better than it was in 1985 but McMahon was hurt and the Charles Martin dirty body slam ended McMahon's season. Then Dikta going with Flutie and it upsetting the team chemistry. Being bounced by the Redskins who were the better team. Then the next year in 87 their best chance to host an NFC championship game where the Bears blew a 14-0 lead against the Redskins in playoffs and just were dead on offense. Then in 1988 getting to the NFC Championship and being owned by the 49ers. After a fast start in 1989 they collapsed with a losing record. 90 and 91 were just beat by better teams in the Giants and the Cowboys. That's why the 49ers won all those Super Bowls was because it was a team effort. No big egos that distracted the team. They were all about winning and the coaches kept the players feet on the ground. That's why they were able to win 4 Super Bowls in the 80's and the Bears could only muster 1. They have should have been in at least another one, but again they were victims of their own success.
PRHILL9696 Look at the last two seasons, if he was a great quarterback he could have at least helped us to get a better record.
