What we need in season 3, is an episode where an old ex of Pella's tracks her down, and he's played by Billy Crystal. Lets make Princess Bride Star Trek canon.
It’s strange not seeing Carol dressed in black, reminiscing about murdering her former husband with an 🪓. If ur not an Addams Family fan u wouldn’t know.
Its strange that that is the only way you know her. Didn't you see her on Taxi with Andy Kaufman? Or how about the Princess Bride... though the make up was pretty thick and Billy Crystal stole the scene.
pythagoras lived from ca. 570 to ca. 490 BCE so in order for her to have met pythagoras she would need to be born at least 600BC so by 2023 she's 2623 years old. she's one of the oldest characters that are non gods/non robots etc that we've seen in trek.
I am hoping they will have a new chief engineer every season until Scotty shows up. Also would like to see the doctor swapped out before the end of the series in order to be consistent with the first original series pilot. But I suspect we will not see either happen until the series finale.
M'Benga is a character from TOS, the doc from the first pilot was CMO before him and McCoy was after, Dr. Piper was technically after M'Benga then it was McCoy. The events of that first pilot happen years before Strange New Worlds.
I honestly wish they have their own Strange New Worlds adventures without wink-wink-nudge-nudge dragging in characters from TOS. The nostalgia mining is disheartening to me.
@@GlennTillema I mean its not the point, it all leads up to the TOS crew, by the time the show ends, Kirk James T will be in charge of the Enterprise, or so the lore goes. If you want a non canon spin off, im all for it, but you're going to have to accept the fact that its going to be TOS but prettier, heck we already have scotty, we are just missing chekov, sulu, and McCoy, then of course, James as captain.
no they need to keep it woke agenda.. so will put more lespians in and them make spok cry a bit and then ad some more something like cartoons for some reason.. mabey alf will show up too
I definitely don’t like him. This characterization just feels too “milktoast”, no imposing/commanding presence about him. Still think that Gabriel Macht guy from “Suits” would be a decent Kirk.(even though he’s getting old)
The Pelia character is a creation of desperation. The writers are trying to re-create the mysterious and quirky character Guinan from Next Gen. But they end up creating a ship full of mutants and misfits and oddities. Writers today are bankrupt of ideas and all they got is gimmicks and tricks.
Yeah I was excited for her. The actress is very funny and an elderly odd engineer was a good idea. But they have to make her extra special. Because they don't get what makes a character interesting.
@@ralphmarx7554 i think he's spot on. this new stuff is terrible. i don't care how old you are, starfleet isn't going to give a significant position to someone who comes across as nuts. where's the military protocol on this show? star trek used to represent the best, intelligent, disciplined, well trained etc. this crap is like Pike is a college professor taking his students on a field trip. god its so awefull
"I haven't taken a math class since Pythagoras made the crap up!" is the best line!
I love how they incorporated Carol's own hesitation in taking on a tech heavy Trek role, while getting to show Pelia's path to becoming an engineer.
She lived on Earth for quite long time.
so Pythagoras made the crap up........now i understand why its so full of problems
She was hilarious in Princes Bride and Scrooged with Bill Murray
I'm liking this new Kirk. And he's got good chemistry with La'an.
Sorry. He doesn't last long. Spoilers.
@@puntabachata Well, he doesn't, but he does.
As if there was a female being in any universe that Kirk does not have a good chemistry with.
And thus, Pelia became interested in engineering creating a bootstrap paradox.
The guy at the Apple store taught Kirk to use Duck Duck Go. LOL.
Yeah geddit it's a reference
And TOR browser.
He fared better than Scotty.

She and Kirk still used a Bottle opener
The way she. SSSHHHH'sss. Kirk. So Cute 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

It would be nifty if wild west era Guinan ever met up with some of the Lanthanites.
Whoopi Goldberg would have to agree to any appearance by Guinan. Recasting the role might cause problems.
@@drmayeda1930 I can't believe she would say no, she wuves Star Trek.
She was fine for Picard S2, both her brief appearances and then the youngcast for 2024 Guinan.

Hey, there's definitely room for Cary Elwes in this cast, isn't there?

Carol Kane? From Taxi & The Princess Bride?
No. Carol Kane from Scrooged and Addams Family Values.
"Think it will work? It will take a miracle. Good bye!"
Anyone else freak out when Kirk set his beer down on the table without a coaster?
No I am not a weird baby
how pelia ended up as an isntructor at starfleet academy teaching warp engines is a mystery intself.
Pelia has a few hundred years to brush-up on all the associated technology, maybe read the instruction manual of her hidden spaceship.

So Star Trek is now like a joyless version of Men in Black with unnecessarily shaky camera and wooden acting.
Not joyless. It makes me smile.
That's rich given Shatners acting
