My friend was saying afterwards, "I should have at least cleaned up a little first, like made the bed, at least." And I was like, "No! I'm glad that I captured it authentically!" Let's not pretend and just keep it real. I'm glad you appreciated that. 🥰
Life gets busy! Sometimes our personal space is the last thing to see any love and care. BTW, two coats of Benjamin Moore for a deep colour but many cheaper brands would be four coats-ugh. All the effort is a huge boost-enjoy!
@@bubgum00 exactly!! all that garbage under the bed and so much dust balls...just gross, you breathe in all those while sleeping..I just know it's a matter of time that room gets messy again.
Super cozy, right?! I've always thought that I would prefer lighter walls in my house, but after seeing cozy walls like this, it might convince me otherwise. :)
Thank you so much, Carol!! :) While I may not know you in real life, we can be 'net friends! :) You know I'm always here for help if you have a question about a project!
It does, doesn't it?! That's what so fun about working in someone else's house, letting them draw from their own likes and dislikes and creativity. Thank you!
Thank you! I am, too. We have had so much fun working on these projects! And to see her go from not feeling creative to now painting on canvas, makes my heart happy!!
I'm so glad she let you share this process, it looks beautiful. No worries about dust bunnies and a little clutter, that is what everyone's house looks like unless you expecting company. Or, at least mine!
Facts, Linda! LOL. You should see my floors....I've got so many crumbs, that when I vacuum them up, I'm like, where did all this come from?!?! LOL. We have all been there. It's real life! Glad you liked the makeover!
Wow! That green really made her fabulous artwork pop! While green is a “cool” color, it totally embraces all the other warm colors and wraps the room with warmth! Bravo! Sweet dreams! 👏🫶
The bedroom is so gorgeous now! I love the green walls, the painted dresser, the rug, the chandelier, etc! Thanks to your friend for sharing this makeover with us. I was pleasantly surprised that she didn't paint the walls white (or a similar light color). I find darker colors to be more cozy and restful. I'm hoping if she has another room to makeover we'll be seeing it here!
The room looks very nice. I love the colorful artwork on the dark walls. I hope she will keep the room clean because that is almost the most important thing.
Omg! That bed of hers is gorgeous!!!! I love that dark green, but I’m always nervous to use it because it can make a room seem small. I can’t stand painting ceilings, either! 😊
I love this! Very transparent and my projects would look just like this as far as clutter and needed cleaning..LOL..thanks for the inspiration! You all are awesome and I'm eager to get started!
Yay! I'm glad you're inspired by this project! It's hard to get started, I know. But even just starting with a corner, you can get it done. It took us 5 months because we were off and on, off and on. But it's a good lesson that you don't have to finish in a weekend. A little bit of progress at a time, eventually you get done!
Really pretty! I would have been so wary of that green color on the walls but the room looked beautiful when completed and I especially liked the layout change. Great job!
I won’t lie I was nervous about the dark paint…but then I saw how it all came together!! Gorgeous!! With the artwork, decor and the gold & dusty pink colored furniture….it feels so sophisticated and artsy!!!
Ooh, I love that word: "Artsy"! I will be sure to share that with Hakimah. She truly loves that new space and I think it suits her well. She's already painted another piece for the gallery wall! She's on a roll. LOL
I wasn't sure about the wall color at first .... but.... WOW! With all of the other furniture, curtains and artwork - everything looks absolutely AMAZING!
Fantastic! Great job ladies. I love this room because I've always been afraid to use bold colors, but not anymore. That room is gorgeous. I'm actually in the process of sprucing up my bedroom, and I'm so happy I saw this video. Thanks!
Good job, Serena, I enjoy watching you spread your wings. The furniture color does look good with the wall color. Everything looks great. Job well done.
Awww, Annette! Thank you SO much! Yeah, this year I have done two projects with her, in her house. It's definitely challenging with schedules and getting materials and tools back and forth and what-not. But it's been fun moving into someone else's home and helping them transform their space! The best part is that she was so NOT into this early in the year, but now, she's so excited to tackle her next room, on her own! The confidence I helped her get makes me so happy! Thanks for sticking around to witness it, Annette! :)
The room is so cute. I think the paint on the furniture will adhere better and longer if you sand the furniture a bit. But you can’t deny how lovely it looks. Love the decor!!!!
Omg, you couldn't have said it any better! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Thank you! I am so happy that we were able to plant that seed. Now it will be up to her to water it. ☘️
It really was! I know my personal aesthetic is much less bold, but this is why I love this project so much, because I didn't have to second guess the dark color, since she wanted it so badly. It was fun doing something so different than what I would have done! Glad you love it!
Loved the bathroom- BEAUTIFUL ready to do mine the same! You made the bedroom project look so easy- love that Beyond paint (copper) dresser paint with a roller + that awesome console table find painted in Beyond paint in licorice- AMAZING! GREAT JOB LADIES!!! LOVE THAT BLACK ACCENT FURINTURE- I'M PAINTING MY MIRROR + HEADBOARD THE SAME! YOUR PAINTINGS ARE A WONDERFUL POP OF COLOR + WITH CHIC WHIMSY- YOU ARE VERY TALENTED!
I love this room! I never would have chosen a pink(mauve) with the gold curtains but it looks so good! I also love the laughing and friendship. New subscriber so I can't wait to watch more!
WOW. What a beautiful transformation. Your friend picked out the colors that made her happy and you did a wonderful job bringing it all together. The artwork is lovely. :)
ALWAYS two coats! It just gives a richer , better look regardless of the quality of the paint. I love dark and rich colors . Be aware, I am sure you are, with stained furniture you can get bleed through, especially when using a lighter colored paint. In that situation using a sealer of some sort is best practice. And with older furniture that has been out of use sometimes it smells funky…spray shellac will seal it in. My mother in law loved to use moth balls to protect her wool sweaters, and no amount of airing, washing, exposing to sunlight was going to kill that smell. Nor did painting. But the shellac Sid the job. I lightly sanded, did a light coat of gel stain, wiped that off and two coats of the and shellac ( in a can like regular spray paint) and it looked and smelled fabulous.
That's what's so wild because in all the 15 years I have known her, she didn't once tell me, or any other friends, that she used to paint and draw when she was a kid! 🤣 She had totally shut herself off to creativity and told herself she wasn't creative. But the project opened her up to the creativity buried inside. Incredible!
Thank you! What's funny is that I never would have chosen green for my own bedroom, but after seeing this come together, I would consider dark colors in the future for my own space! The deep, rich color really does make a room come alive in a way that lighter colors can't. Thanks for watching!
Stylish, cozy, relaxing! Looks like a room in a fancy furniture store, where I could not buy anything because of the prices. :D I love it! And that reading corner is everything!
Thank you! Yeah, I know at first, a few of my friends that I had shown pics to before I posted this, they were on the fence about the green walls, but it totally worked and came together so nicely!
You might want to do a bit of reading on why it’s important to use a primer especially if there is not one in the paint you’re going to use. Also it would have been helpful for you to lightly sand those pieces before you applied the paint. The primer helps the paint adhere To the wooden surface.

Agreed! I really love how the gallery wall turned out, too!
Not my style. 🤷🏼♀️
Green was her choice, which is ok.
