I’m not sure about it being a “historical” piece. It’s just some old furniture. Colorful paint can be great, but just painting the whole thing purple🫠. But it looks good.
@@mangot589 But he didn't say it was an 'historic piece', just simply that it is of a period (probably the 30s), a period in history ... and, while not historically important, it DOES retain the elegance of that period.

Ok I usually do not comment! but I have to say "Great Job" as a fellow furniture refinisher I believe I would have set it on the curb with a free sign. I did not expect such a gorgeous transformation!
What a great piece for a beachside property. I've watched other refinishing presenters and I have to say your items look far more professionally done than some other presenters.
Waterfall Art Deco furniture is my go to for flips. Very versatile, cleans up well and it’s old enough to be “vintage/antique” but mass produced enough the antique purists don’t have a cow if you paint it. Beautiful work.
Great job! I appreciate that you stuck with it, instead of quitting. So many homes now have those greyish wood floors. This cabinet looks great with grey painted walls. Super!
Beautiful job 👏 I always admire the time and effort you put into each and every piece. You have so much attention to detail and the patience you have to work on a piece is unreal! Excellent job and it looks amazing!!! I hope you get a lot for it to make up for the time you put into it.
I had a similar desk in my room when I was a child...some 62 years ago. it was old then. AND it was very dark. Very soft and beachy tones. Nice in the dark of winter.
I have no issue with the purple at all, to each their own. It was the layers upon layers upon layers that blew my mind. Thank you so much for watching!
I just want to say that even though I love a lot of channels, you are extremely unique in the choices you make. I don’t think I’ve seen one video of yours that I don’t LOVE! ✨
I’ve watched this twice, and love what you did. Your image of driftwood was perfect, as the wood colors have the varying tones of beige and gray. The paint color is most definitely a beach color. Overall, the piece has the tranquil mood of a foggy beach morning. So glad you didn’t give up on this.
Love how you saved this piece, I had an antique vanity that I used as a desk as a kid it had 1 coat of a very light pink my mother decided to give it a face lift & painted it with thick old leftover redwood paint 😭 that was used on the interior of our home. I hope someone like you came across her & saved her 😊 thanks for sharing your skills 💕
I've been working on a solid oak kitchen table with exactly the same issues. 3 weeks in..stripping, steel wool, scraping and sanding. Finally down to bare wood, and I'm immediately thinking driftwood finish with a white wax.
Great work! ❤ The finished piece looks modern, beautiful, and elegant. Your video reminds me of a restoration Dad did (about 30 years ago) to a piece of furniture my Grandmother bought. The piece had three layers of paint: pink, green, and white. Dad removed the paint, sanded the piece and finished the original wood with a dark varnish. He also added new hardware. Thank you for sharing!
I love how you have a 'vision' for how a piece will end up, and how the end result is always a thousand times better than what you started with. Also love the new hardware -- it's a perfect fit!
You are so talented! You treat each piece with such respect. You take each abused piece and elevate it giving new life. I love the comment about giving the wood a drink! If it had a soul you just revived it. Thank you for sharing your skill.

I`ve had that same issue and it takes forever to pick, scour and scrub the paint off. In the end, you created a masterpiece.
Looks beautiful ❤️ fyi - I had similar issues with primer under latex and after the paint stripper , while the surface was still gummy, I used charcoal lighter fluid with a scrubby pad. It all came off pretty quickly. Maybe this could help you in the future !

A tip for you when having to drill new holes for pulls or handles. A good way is to get a set of screws that fit your pulls and then grind the head off and to a point. Then after you measure out where you want the pull, after that all you have to do is push the pull into the wood and that will leave 2 nice dimples in the piece for your drill to start in.
Where I’m still quite new to the woodworking side of this, I’m trying to get used to multiple tools and techniques at the same time, so sometimes I pick and chose how I’m going to accomplish something. I’d like to learn as many hand tools and older skills as I can so I sprinkle those in amongst the power tools and modern techniques, even though they are way faster and more accurate. Quite often there are a variety of ways to accomplish something and I like to experiment and try new things. It takes a LONG time to become proficient in any area, but truthfully, you never really stop learning. I STILL watch many TH-cam wood workers and furniture folks while I’m working on pieces in the garage. And I LOVE a good book. Long story short - just because you don’t see something on screen doesn’t mean I don’t know how to do it. There’s likely a reason I’ve chosen to do it the way I have.
Beautiful job! I love the neutrality of the finished piece; definitely was a 'trash to treasure'. I can't believe how many hours you had to put into this transformation, but the result was absolutely worth it! This is the second of your vids that i have watched, and I am now subbed. Looking forward to watching all of them! ❤️
Yes, the "driftwood" feel really came through at the end. Excellent choice of hardware too. It was well worth the effort IMO. I'd be happy to live with that piece of furniture.
I love restoration. It's such a labor of love. My childreth had to endure getting all my projects bit decades later, they still have the pieces I did for them.
I appreciate how you give each piece you work on your very best. You could have just given up, but then we would have never seen the wonderful result. It is truely inspiring. Thank you!
Great job. Reminiscent of sand and greenish sea foam and dry seaweed. I am from Florida. The piece speaks our coastal language. Thank you for the treat.
At first I was iffy on the gray, but it complemented the wood finish and basic design incredibly well. The look is subtle and updated and classic all at once. Excellent.
Whoa! that was a difficult piece to restore. You did a great job of it considering the paint/guff that was on it before. Back in the early 70's, l had a chest of drawers that l painted with white base coat as a protection. Paints were not as good then as they are now and we were limited too. I took the myrtle chest of drawers to a professional many years later to have it reversed. Boy did he curse me! When he'd finished it was really good but l paid dearly to have the job done. Your work is the best l've ever seen. I just love the way you vacuum it all over. Thanks for the video. Now l will watch another of yours to satisfy myself.
You are the most patient person on earth. I love this channel. I’m so thankful I found it. I have an old secretary desk I’m trying to figure out what to do with.
I had a similar piece for a desk as a child almost 60 years ago! It was varnished, dad would have not have been pleased to see the purple paint on this one. The way you redid it was lovely.
Thank you for showing that sometimes it just takes far more time and effort than you thought it might. I'm a newbie, and trying not to feel defeated by how long it can take to prep the piece. This came out so beautiful!
It absolutely can take a long time. My videos are edited down but this piece took 2 and a half days in total, likely a total of 15 solid working hours. It's a lot of work but so worth it. Kudos to you for starting!
The coloring of the final product was perfect to match to that wall and floor. And going in the direction done considering the wood and the purple then white paint, I think trying anything else would have ended up with some sort of splotchy result. This blends in the wood and any white still within it after the cleaning into a lovely whole and it looks relaxing. Incredible job.
That has definitely got the wow factor. From a tatty piece of furniture to something that can sit soundly in a house. Just love the attention to detail even on those area you cannot see unless you open it up.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it Kathy! Thank you so much for watching and welcome to my channel! 😀
This is so gorgeous. It could literally just be a feature piece in someone's home.
Thank you so much!
Love the beach wood tones. Beautiful job!
Thank you so much!
Wow. Absolutely stunning. Restoring a piece of furniture is no small task. Again stunning. You have great style.
Thanks so much! 😊
Beautiful transformation - I love watching what you do. This certainly is Driftwood!
Thanks for watching!
Yes, the "driftwood" feel really came through at the end. Excellent choice of hardware too. It was well worth the effort IMO. I'd be happy to live with that piece of furniture.
Thank you very much!
I love restoration. It's such a labor of love. My childreth had to endure getting all my projects bit decades later, they still have the pieces I did for them.
That furniture is made to last! Kudos to you for redoing them and saving them for your kids! 😊
I love waterfall furniture it's unique, and I absolutely love how you brought the wood forward....gorgeous gorgeous piece.
Thank you so much!
I love how you revive vintage and antique pieces and give them a new life ❤️
Thank you very much!
I appreciate how you give each piece you work on your very best. You could have just given up, but then we would have never seen the wonderful result. It is truely inspiring. Thank you!
You're very welcome! 😊
I have three of these that have never been painted (thankfully). One was my mother's, and the other two belonged to her two sisters. Love your work!
Great job. Reminiscent of sand and greenish sea foam and dry seaweed. I am from Florida. The piece speaks our coastal language. Thank you for the treat.
You're so welcome! Thank you so much for watching!
That’s so lovely. I love how you don’t always feel you have to paint wood furniture and you preserve the beauty of the piece
Thanks for watching!
This is seriously one of the best transformations I’ve seen. It brought tears to my eyes!!!
Oh wow!
Wow, what a transformation. A beautiful piece of furniture.
Thanks so much for watching!
At first I was iffy on the gray, but it complemented the wood finish and basic design incredibly well. The look is subtle and updated and classic all at once. Excellent.
Thank you so much!
I am in shock! The tenacity and perseverance you had to restore this piece just blows me away. You are just amazing and I wish you continued success.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
What a lovely piece for someone's beach-inspired house.
Thank you very much! 😀
Whoa! that was a difficult piece to restore.
Thanks again for watching Janice and the always kind words!
Wow what a transformation the Driftwood really makes the difference on that piece of furniture
Thank you so much for watching!
You are the most patient person on earth. I love this channel. I’m so thankful I found it. I have an old secretary desk I’m trying to figure out what to do with.
Awe, thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
Awesome transformation of this old vanity/desk . It looks beautiful. 😀
Best of luck with it! Thanks so much for watching!
Wow. What a difference! I love the look of the wood tone. So pretty.
Thank you so much for watching!
I had a similar piece for a desk as a child almost 60 years ago! It was varnished, dad would have not have been pleased to see the purple paint on this one. The way you redid it was lovely.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like how it turned out! 😀
I had to watch the reveal twice on this one because it was so awesome. Super nice vibe on this piece. Working at this desk would be a joy.
Thank you! Cheers!
You saved this piece. It’s such a calming piece of furniture now.
I'm so glad you like it! Thank you so much for watching!
1000% improvement! Live that you have the natural wood showcased too…that grey tone is AMAZING!
Thanks so much!
What a gorgeous beautiful and tasteful peace you created..🧚🏼♀️
And what a blessfull plant hemp is in all her comming..🙏😍
Thank you so much for watching!!
You've worked an absolute miracle. It's just so very special.
Thank you so much!! 😊
Wow! What a transformation. The end result is stunning! Very lucky person will own that.
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much! 😊
Thank you so much for not giving up it turned out just great. ❤❤
You are so welcome!
That has definitely got the wow factor. From a tatty piece of furniture to something that can sit soundly in a house. Just love the attention to detail even on those area you cannot see unless you open it up.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!
from the start condition i couldn’t anticipate this result. the final colors and textures make a great combination.
Thank you so much for watching!
This piece is a beautiful transformation that I would not have thought was possible. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Nice work.

Wow! Hideous purple to elegant driftwood! Fantastic!!

Love the driftwood look. It is unusual and the paint compliments it well. Some one will have an exquisite piece of Not Purple art.
