thanks for this video,....these are some way cool books,.....catman, chamber of chills, punch, and phantom lady,.....you got the car going in the right direction sir!
"Die Die My Darling" Congratulations on Such a classy beautiful collection!! Lime green jello here! FYI they are all display worthy!! If not the company you keep must be questioned. I'd display that BC all day and make it a point to point it out to "normies."
Wow nice books! I usually check elite comics when I get home from work, and that day the BCM50 was posted it was already sold when I logged in. I 100% would of bought it, so congrats to you for acting quick (I am sure others would of bought it also). I think ComicConnect might have another 9.0 in their march featured auction, so I will patiently wait for that one. Once again, congrats
Bro congratz! Nothing wrong with making the list larger. Maybe just add a few each year that really speak to you! Your doing it the smart way but don't let your heart get shutdown also if your really love somthen!❤
Happy New Year. Since you're a cover-oriented collector, I wanted to recommend a couple of DC series for you in the great era of very late '40s / early '50s Star Spangled Comics and All-American Western. The post-hero era for several DC titles is underrated for outstanding cover art.
Get out of here!!! A CGC 9.0???? Wow!!!!Well done Ryan! This is an unbelievable double dozen of books. I can picture you in just a few years from now posting the unboxing of Batman #1 or Superman #1 (or God knows what else :)) (aka "comicbooksaficionado")
That BCC #50 is stunning Ryan! Great buy. Puts my keeper list to shame but I only collect silver age Daredevil currently. Cheers and Happy New Years to you and all the viewers. Hope y’all’s 2024 is full of good times and great comics!
Hey Ryan, this is Bob in Connecticut. You are awesome I love your books I get a little jealous because I can’t buy anything anymore. I don’t work back in the day I could buy stuff like you are buying.. well to be honest, weird science fantasy annual 1 which I know you had or still have that is very very rare in the high grade I know because I told you I have 9.0 9.2 is the highest grade. There are three of those.. I would think that book would have been on your keeper list
Fantastic video. Been waiting for this. 🎉🎉 So, I tried to guess your No1. I knew you had a Seven Seas 4 coming so I first thought it was that in a high grade. Then when it came up early on I thought maybe you'd finally got a Suspense 3 in a 0.5 or something. Have to admit, a little disappointed it was the Black Cat melting face. Like you, I don't like the extreme PCH books. But a 9.0 is insane, so fully understand why you have it at No1. Awesome Keeper list. 3 Baker's, an LB Cole, a couple of Schomberg air brush covers. Oh man. I'm so jealous. Congratulations. This is why you're my favourite channel.
Great list / video! Love these recaps. So fun to go through these with you. I didn’t realize you had so many pedigree books - and yes, that gold label…so good. I had anticipated that PL17 and PC12 would’ve been top of your list, so it was fun to find out what the new number one would be. Congrats on that pick up. I remember you showing this before. Crazy cover. Now about that AF15…so jealous.
Did you know it was going to take top spot before you bought it or knew it was effectively yours? And I was surprised your ending comment about having never seen one in person until you opened it just then!
@TK_junction This current set of 24 books is my keeper list but like I mentioned in the video, they aren’t necessarily in order of my favorite books on that list. Like the Startling 49 is my favorite. This list was in order of value, just because it’s easier to do it that way. So yes, I knew it was #1 because it’s the most valuable book I own.
Also that’s true for a lot of these golden age books I have (not having seen them in person before I open the box). I don’t generally go to cons, especially not big ones where you might see some of them at like the comicconnect or heritage booths. So my first chance to see them in person is when I have them in my possession.
@@AutomaticComicsright sorry forgot. Silly me. I also want to say again that Punch 12 looks great the way it is. The roughed edges add character and personality to that book and it plays perfectly with the skull cover. IMHO. Anyway, happy new year, all the best for 2024!
I have hundreds of books for sale at any given time, so I can’t really cover that in a video =). The link to my eBay store where they’re listed is in the description of the video.
Fun video! And I agree how good that gold label looks with darker colors. Such a "premium" vibe. So I have to ask...are you considering having the Black Cat relabelled with gold?
What an absolutely insane pick up to end the year. That Black Cat competes with the CoC 19 for my favorite Golden Age book. Congrats and Happy New Years!!
Thanks! I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s not focused though, just in a different way. I have a few different areas and artists I really like, and I’m generally trying to get important and/or exceptional comics in those areas. I really like Batman, pre-code Horror, and Good Girl Art-type covers. All of these books fall into one of those except the AF15, Walt Disney 1, the Okajima Pedigree and the Cap 27. And those are all just very important books in their own right.
I see the BCM50 pop up on IG, stepped out to mull it over, and when I came back, it was sold! 😭 lol. Excellent pick up! A superb keeper list, thank you for sharing!
@@AutomaticComics 100% agree! Interesting you say that though. I was watching a playback of a Swagglehaus and CoMoComics team-up YT stream last night and Drew mentioned the comments section on larger listings as being a telling factor in whether or not it is in fact a great opportunity. Sounded like you were in the chat for most or all of it so you probably heard him, but among other things that probably stood out to me the most. Although I never stopped to consider it, that was very applicable!
Why? I’ve had pedigree books cracked and pressed before. It’s still the same book. Plus books are typically pressed in many cases by the original pedigree submission. Like the 9.8 ASM 1 that’s from the curator pedigree on heritage next month. It was a 9.6. Someone cracked and pressed it and resubmitted it and got a 9.8. It’s pretty common.
I don't understand how an incomplete AF15 with coupons missing could get a blue label. I realize it's only .5, but I didn't think it was possible to get a blue label on an incomplete book.
Yes, that’s basically what a 0.5 is. There are a few cases where a 0.5 is complete if it’s in really rough shape, but typically an incomplete book is what a 0.5 is for.
All pedigrees can get the gold label. It’s just that the update to that label style happened about 2 years ago. If you have a book graded prior to that, you just need to send it in to be reholdered and you’ll get the updated gold version. Thats what I did with both the Okajima and the cosmic aeroplane books.
I didn’t use to, but it’s kind of evolved to that over the last couple years. If you check out my top 50 video from about 3 years ago it’s a lot of bronze, silver and I think some modern (with a little golden age). Something about golden age books just started to appeal to me, and I like the challenge that you can’t just go out and buy them if you want them. You have to wait, sometimes months or years for that book to come up for sale.
It’s either that or the pipe coming out of the wall 😂. I tried taking it off the pipe before and people commented on that a lot more. So the hat it is 🧢
So why exactly did you take 20 seconds out of your incredibly "important" life to even post?? Feel free to scroll on, and fade away. Ryan, An absolutely incredible display of quality stuff. Love the BC50! My imaginary #1 would be a mid-grade All-American Comics #61. Maybe someday.
love your videos. question: i just found my first 5-cent book in the wild... ALL DETECTIVE MAGAZINE Volume 1 Issue 1 from Nov 1932 in remarkably good shape at a local antique mall... can't find much online and wondering with your pulp expertise if you know what roughly a low-grade book like that may be worth (ballpark, unofficial estimate of course)... any help is appreciated thanks!

Wow! That Black Cat 50 is amazing in a 9.0 for a PCH collector. Amazing book, gotta save up some pennies for that one.
Wow, that 9.0 Black Cat, just absolutely stunning!
As my kids say, so jelly!
Nice selection. Thanks for sharing
Just picked up a planet comics 55 and 71 their some of the best art I ever seen I am actually in love
71 is a great one. Those later issues by Maurice Whitman are really good.
@AutomaticComics yea I honestly love then all I think it'd a 3 to 4 my goal is to slowly trade up like you do.
WOWZA! Kudos Ryan! Excellent books. Happy New year to you and your loved ones!...:)
Happy new year to you too 👍
Amazing collection. Golden age dominance. Phantom lady 17 my fav GGA. Archie 50 I picked up this year.
Appreciate it, thanks for watching 👍. Congratulations on the Archie 50 too.
Congratulations it's been a very good year Ryan

Better check those slabs. Lol
Seriously, nice collection. Thanks for all you have done to expose the cgc scam.
Was not expecting you to pull out that BCM50. I was drooling over that copy when i saw it for sale on IG. My most sought-after book. Very jealous
It definitely caught my attention too when I saw it pop up for sale 👍.
Congrats on the Big Book!
Incredible collection!
Huge list! Can't imagine this list next year... Tec 31 maybe 🤔
That’s definitely a book I’m always looking for. But it’s gotten pretty insane with pricing now
Fantastic books. What an awesome collection.
Thanks!
I didn't have Ryan as a Chainsaw man appreciator. Truly a man for any age 🍻
I’m a big anime fan. One of my other hobbies, I get my money’s worth from Crunchyroll =). My brother got me the model and the Pochita for Christmas.
I literally yelled “GODDAMN a 9.0” when you put up black cat
😂
That’s a museum piece for sure
Can you do a good girl art top 10 undervalued list similar to the PCH videos?
I think you should go over what you have for sale in a video and what you would recommend
That one wouldn’t get a gold label. The File Copy is more of a note in this case, like the Bobby Blue Collection note.
Monsters books and amazing collection!
Thanks!
Flex it Ryan 😄😎
Killer Books. My #1 is a WWII Timely Schomburg
Timely Schomburg WW2 books are definitely top tier to me too 👍
impressed.
check your mic. something whistle-y when you say words with "s".
This mic is about as good as it gets. Can’t do anything else with it.
What an absolutely insane pick up to end the year. That Black Cat competes with the CoC 19 for my favorite Golden Age book. Congrats and Happy New Years!!
Thanks, and thanks for watching the channel 👍
I would proudly display Crime Suspenstories 22 if I had it, the Black Cat.... not so much
Amazing collection, sir. Trying hard not to be jealous. Not super focused though, right? You kind of like everything?

Cracking a Pedigree slab to get the book pressed should disqualify the book from the Pedigree collection

It’s hard to value the Disney comic/story #1. There are hardly any recent sales.
I know this is stupid, but that hat in the foreground is messing with my eyes. I keep focusing on that and then I can’t watch…I know…it’s stupid….
It’s either that or the pipe coming out of the wall 😂. I tried taking it off the pipe before and people commented on that a lot more. So the hat it is 🧢
Batman #2 is the worst cover
Yeah, I’m not a fan.
My Batman 2 is worse.. some kid put stars all inside the “Batman”… I see it as collecting History v a thing of beauty
