    So just a quick note, if you enjoyed this episode then more power to you but it just really wasn't for me. It was underwhelming to say the least and I feel like the pacing and structure of the show is it's biggest weakness.
    I'm concerned that the finale will be rushed and there will be no pay off. What did you think?

      20 minutes to recap, rehash and reshow events leading to where we left off from the first flashback and give pointless details just for the worst duel which is strange because the qimir fight was so amazing it was almost unbelievable that disney made it, i was so let down left with even more questions that i didnt even care too much about i wanted a maybe 10 min flashback just showing what actually happened in the fight between them and the witches and then moving on with the rest of the show but no… and now were putting pop songs made for the show in the credits like they used to do for action movies back in the early 2000’s

      The Jedi only attack in defense, applies to the defense of others. Not just themselves, as that would be selfish. What sol Did is justified considering what he knew. Btw why didn’t sol just lift two 50Ib twins instead of trying to lift two ton bridges with 50Ib twins on them. It makes no sense

  • @hehu4025
    @hehu4025 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The moment when the series questions the sense of its creation:
    Torbin wanted to return to Coruscant > The Jedi were supposed to return to Coruscant > For some reason, Torbin decides to kidnap the twins on his own, believing this will ensure his return to Coruscant > Then he waits for Mae for years and ultimately kills himself.
    What?
    This is absurd.
    The key point I want to make is that Torbin could have had a nervous personality or some other justification that would have made his actions understandable. However, this is an example of a poorly written character. We don’t understand his motivations or why he did what he did. He was given a significant role in the plot, but his character was completely neglected.
    He did it because the plot needed him to.
    Next, Sol - the genius.
    Choosing between Mae and Osha. Why not lift both of them with the Force? He was able to hold up a metal structure, so why couldn’t he lift two children? If he had limited time, it would have been justified, but here he had time to think about his actions.
    Either he is an idiot, or he wanted Mae to die.
    And the witches.
    First, the twins’ mother transforms into a black mist for some reason.
    Why?
    There was no pretext for a fight or anything, and such a move would naturally provoke a fight because it’s incomprehensible.
    Then Indara frees the Wookiee and all the witches just die.
    What is this?
    While watching episodes 1-2, I feared that showing the past would be poorly executed. I knew this was crucial to the series, and I really wanted it to succeed, hence my concern. Unfortunately, my fears were justified.

    No wonder in the first scene when we were introduced to Sol, one of his pupils said, "i see fire"... i think this particular youngling, whom may have eminded Sol of Mae and Osha, picked up on Sol's subconscious. His buried loss and guilt.
    Next week we'll probably pick back up in present day with Sol and Mae, Osha with Qimir. Do we have time for more flashbacks of Qimir's past and how he met Mae? Questionable, but I do believe we definitely have to revisit Brendok 16 years ago to find out how Mae survived that fall. What ever happened to Mother Koril in her smoke form? Also, showrunners said two sith lords would make appearance in this show. Who is the other(s) if not Qimir?

    I didn't think the Coven all died from Indara breaking their mind control of Kelnacca... I just thought they got knocked out and died in the fire. I fully expect Mother Koril survived and was Qimir's master or at least took him in and manipulated his dark side for the sake of her revenge. Next episode will be Qimir's flashback, Mae and Osha confrontation (flipping good/bad positions) then the reckoning for both Sol and Venestra (who like others suggested was probably Qimir's master as a jedi).

    You’re more into lore than I am, so maybe you can explain this? Sol’s bizarre, empathic impediment is throwing me off. How did he advance beyond being a Padawan with this issue? For example: taking Torbin, Osha, even Mae’s, feelings as his own, and acting upon them. Am I reading him correctly?

    • @martinsleight321
      @martinsleight321 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He has a connection with her. We don't know why, but it probably has something to with the force anomaly.
      It's not so simple as wanting a student, he was connected to her and felt compelled to help her. We don't know why - yet.

  • @artiemedley9369

    Maybe the REAL reason Sol chose to save Osha over Mae is because she saw him kill her mother. He's a master Jedi. He could've held both pieces the twins were standing on.

    I don't think they'll give any answers because in the show Indara said it was better to figure them out on your own.
    They left plenty of clues for us to fill in the blanks. Conceptually, that would be kind of cool.

      @@muldoone6920 it can be. You don’t have to like the show but that is totally what they are doing. It’s a paradox and letting the audience figure it out for themselves lets them see both sides of the equation and make up their own minds about what happened. Explaining a mystery is like explaining a joke. Once the hate/hype train settles down people will notice things they missed the first time and figure it out.

    I think the speeder scenes would probably have benefitted from use of the Volume. I didn't like the over-use (as in Ahsoka and The Mandalorian) but I also don't agree with directors rejecting the tool when it would be beneficial.
    I wasn't blown away by the "reveals" of the episode, but the story was satisfying. I wish the aftermath for Kalnacca would have been more clear (through subtle acting); a wasted opportunity there I chalk up to directorial shortcoming. I also agree they could have spent a few min with Sol and Mae on the ship to provide context and allow more time for the fallout in the finale.

  • @artiemedley9369
    @artiemedley9369 หลายเดือนก่อน

    While I like the show overall, this episode, above all others, confirms my opinion that this show could've very easily shortened and combined several episodes together, to give us 45-50 minute episodes across the board. Twelve 26-30 minute episodes would not have worked because the shortness of episodes is probably 1a on the complaint scale so far. Bottom line: the story could've been written and executed better.

    How could one lamp burn the whole temple .. Also instead of holding the bridge Sol could have lifted the 2 girls .. weren’t that heavy for a Jedi.. Wasn’t much new from previous flashback .. just fleshed it out .. Seemed like a filler episode with no real answers

    • @timmaximilian9286

      the lamp short circuited the door panel, which probably caused a spike in the reactor, which then ignited/ exploded. it was shown to spark in the background of a previous shot. This is a crazy cult of the occult living in a old mine, I think it's fairly believable that their electronics are not up to code and have no fuzes.

      lol, you can see why they needed that to happen, so mae and osha end up on the collapsing bridge thing. tons of better ways they could have gotten to that point, maybe a cool fight with the jedi and witches, evil mom leading to an explosion, idk idc, but nope, lamp bad

    Thank goodness I didn't fall asleep yet! I've been waiting for your video reaction to drop. So this episode was a bit of a letdown. I'm glad that some questions were asked, but the editing and pacing indeed felt sloppy at times. But man, the intention of Sol wanting or feeling drawn to Osha didn't sit well with me. To fill an empty void in him. But why? It felt creepy! And once Osha finds out the truth of what he did to the witches, the intention behind his actions, Osha will most definitely turn to hate, and perhaps the dark side.
    So some cool and interesting scenes, especially with Torbin. And Kelnecca's action sequences were great. But yeah, some sloppy moments and creepy Sol... and I do miss Qimir. Great review and analysis, Simon! 😊

    I don't like the copout that it was all a misunderstanding. Especially since at the same time as the show tries to say both sides are bad it still rightfully has Sol come across as a stalker/predator, and Torbin weirdly come off as a spoiled rich kid who doesn't want to colonize a planet not for moral reasons but because he's home sick. It feels like the show wants to condemn the Jedi more than Disney will let it. Which is why the insanely stupid choice was made to have the Jedi Order oppose taking the kids. Disney doesn't want to condemn the entire system as exploitive so instead they condemn individuals. It's like complaining about individual colonizers instead of the entire system of colonization.
