      Anyone with the ability to think will deduce that this was not and will never be Star Wars. There are too many flaws, bad writing, and predictable. Any self-respecting person or TH-camr will denounce this atrocity of a poor excuse of a tv show above anything else. Don't just be positive for the views or popularity.

    One of my favorite of the season, perhaps even better than ep 5 as finale gave us more all around... Brendok set pieces shot during the day looks great. I feel like the 180 mil is more justified now. Space chase w/ jaw dropping VFX, another epic fight w/ Qimir v.s. Sol (major improvements with Mae and Osha), emotional death, satisfying closures w/well-balanced resolutions, fan service cameos, good set up for future season(s). Thank you Simon for sharing your journey with us. Cheers mate!

    This show is a prime example of corporate content. The characters have no development and their motivations are all over the place. I think if they had focused mainly on Sol and Qimir it would have been a far more rewarding experience.
    Furthermore, the direction is awful. I was watching Empire the other day and the cinematography, lighting and shot composition is on another level. Just imagine a film or show of Star Wars that looked as good as Dune. Disney need to stop employing people who clearly do not have the experience to carry a property like Star Wars. With the budget the show had, this is unforgivable. Even the costumes look cheap and nasty.
    My final thoughts are this. When the original Star Wars was released, it was universally praised across the globe. Japan and other countries outside of the west loved the film because they felt the characters were relatable. Not by the colour of their skin or their sexuality or religious beliefs. By their actions and their development as characters. I think this is something that has been fundamentally forgotten and is the reason why we are no longer getting well written characters. It is now about ticking boxes and making sure the quota is met.
    Anyways rant over. I think all in all it is an utter shame that one of my favourite franchises has been destroyed by greedy corporate behaviour. I am happy though for anyone who genuinely enjoyed the show!

  • @Dicko2909
    @Dicko2909 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is gaslighting.
    There are multiple witnesses who can place Sol at the Jedi Temple when the murder of Indara happened. There is a witness who testified in front of other jedi including Ki Adi-Mundi (don't get me started on that steaming pile of turd) that Mae killed Indara.
    Are they all going to have their minds erased as well?
    And then the final scene.
    Now even if we believe that Yoda isn't all powerful and didn't sense the murders of multiple jedi by a force wielding maniac that still doesn't excuse the final scene in the show. Yoda is strong and powerful enough to get to the bottom of the matter with Vernestra. There is no way on god's green earth that she could conceal the truth of the matter to him.
    Which makes him complicit because the other alternative is so mind numbingly stupid that we all may as well just give it up.

    I think Plagueis is there because of the whole witch stuff and creating life. He's a learner and meanwhile he's searching for an "Acolyte" himself to overthrow Tenebrous.
    The lightsaber stuff and the quality is not on top but I liked the choreography. They've got something to learn for Season 2 but I'm hoping for it to get made.

    It was honestly a better finale episode than in Ahsoka. They somehow managed to finish this plot while opening up possibilities for the next season. I wish they would learn from this season for the future of Star Wars tho. There is so much to improve. It's a shame that some elements didn't work because the story itself is very good.

  • @hehu4025

    Darth Plagueis...
    So, we’re just tossing the novel aside and ignoring everything?
    Plagueis should be around 20 years old, and the Sith Master should still be Tenebrous or even his master. It’s too early for Plagueis.
    If it had been set 50 years instead of 100, it might have made sense.
    But considering the number of absurdities in this series, especially episode 7, I’m not surprised by the thinking: "Let’s throw Plagueis in there because it’ll be cool for the stupid viewer." There was absolutely no reason to include him for the sake of the plot.
    I genuinely felt like they were trying to make me feel like an idiot, thinking I’d ignore this.
    I don’t want a second season because they’ve already done enough damage to the lore and basic logic. The Acolyte should not have been created at all, and I hope Disney has at least some minimal intelligence and doesn’t come up with a second season, just like they did with the movie featuring the fan-favorite Rey Palpatine.

    • @SimonTalksStarWars
      @SimonTalksStarWars  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are we tossing the Legends book aside? Yes. Let's not get hung up over ages again when in reality it doesn't matter. It's to tie into his knowledge of how to create life using the force.

      @hehu4025 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SimonTalksStarWars So, according to your logic, I'm afraid of what they'll do to Revan because they will try with his story eventually. Well, KOTOR is also part of Legends, so they can use Revan’s name and do whatever they want with it-what’s the problem with that?
      That novel is iconic and makes significantly more sense than what was shown in the Acolyte.
      To replace something that good, you need to offer something better that makes sense and pays respect to the original sources.
      An example of this is Filoni, who collaborated with the original creator of Thrawn to build the character.
      We also have Barriss and Medstar.
      (It is possible.)
      Here you have Plaguies because that's how it's supposed to be, because a stupid viewer will enjoy it. There was no reason to show him. This is primitive fan service, which I hate. And I hate it when someone practically spits in my face, thinking I’ll be pleased.
      I can only thank them for ruining the book for no reason and probably destroying Darth Plagueis's character in the second season.

  • @ervicito77
    @ervicito77 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That moment when I saw (what I think was) Darth Plagueis had me also stunned! Then I was like... wait, WTF is he doing here?
    Although I did enjoy the episode and the series, I hate feeling of how the story beats left me feeling not so satisfied. It's the "oh, look at this, but we'll tell you later," it's hard to explain. Usually, there are certain plots in stories that go "this happens, but then this other thing happens, therefore they decide to do this... and then this happens, but then something else happens, therefore they follow this route." This is how a proper story unfurls and keeps the audience intrigued. With Acolyte, it's more like "here's Darth Plagueis,... and that's it, so find out whenever next time we tell you." And I hate that, lol. To me, that's the problem with The Acolyte. The uneasiness and jerkiness of the storytelling.
    That being said, this show did absolutely nothing wrong with the fight choreography. Hats off to the choreography team and stunt team. Well done! I thought the music and soundtrack were pretty awesome too. I loved how they showed in live action the bleeding of the crystal which turned the lightsaber red. It was fantastic!
    The acting of the twins (even though it's one person, lol) slowly improved by this episode, but at this point, I couldn't care less. But I must say, the CGI and visual work of trying to create this illusion of having two separate actors play the twins was quite good! There were times in which I almost forgot it was in fact on actor. It was also blended remarkably well in post and editing. Still, the acting could've been better, lol!
    Lee Jung-jae did a good job playing Sol! Great acting. Albeit a bit creepy character, lol. I still don't understand his obsession with Osha (or the twins).
    But yeah, overall, this series was a mixed bag of things. It had some very good moments and some not so very good moments. If there is a second season, I hope they learn from some of the mistakes they had here in the first. This series could've been so much better in many ways, and to me, it's really in some of the acting and the pacing of the series.
    Great analysis as always, Simon!

    Typical.... the Jedi get thrown under the bus. What a laughable joke. The Jedi are losers with no admirable characters. Sol getting blamed for everything is bs. Killing someone after they turn into a shadow demon is justified. How stupid can this show get. People have a really low bar if they think this is good.

    I enjoyed it very much. For me, it was great how they showed that neither side is entirely good or evil. I also liked the theme of nature versus nurture- the twins were created by more dark side leaning witches so you would assume they would be dark but then both twins had light side tendencies.

Anakin is the chosen one, Vader is the negative chosen one, twins are negative two, Luke and Leia are positive two and the Force is zero. it's two different sides, the negative and the positive. it's how the Force balances.

    Entirely unearned injection of lore changing / breaking / establishing storylines. The show breaks it's own flow. E7 shows not a single reason the Jedi would be considered the "at-fault" side of that conflict, and E8 creates a false narrative to paint the Jedi as breaking their own rules, and paints Sol as the mastermind ( likely in an attempt to retcon itself for the Mundi gaffe ). In the process the show entirely forgets its own storyline where in the first 5 minutes of the season, Mae destroys an entire bar and kills one of the Jedi. So now Sol, who is declared a suicide ( even though the body was sent afloat and burning on a lake ), is labelled a crazed depraved "flawed man", although universally liked as the strongest character on the show. Mind boggling. The choices and decisions within the production of this show show zero effort to dovetail into canon, and show in more than a few instances a shocking lack of basic desire to do so. Heading up a SW project is not project greenlight. It is not a freshman assignment. This team breaks the trust of the audience supporting SW, and then mocks them in the media. Lucasfilm gave the keys to a Ferrari and a $180mil budget to an unqualified team, who could have easily hired the best writing staff and continutity specialists available, if it wanted to. Instead it chose to color the entire Jedi order as less than what every other creator in the SW universe has done... and it appears to simply be for the shock value of it all. When someone goes out of their way to produce asymmetrical content, the feedback they get is the feedback they earned. Feloni has not done a single interview nor published a single word about this show which intimates that he agrees with, approved, nor oversaw the storylines within this production. He has been conspicuously silent. This production has given rise to a well deserved title - SWINO ( Star Wars in Name Only ). And make no mistake -- they worked very hard and burned through an enormous budget to earn that title. It gives me no pleasure to provide this overview. We all want SW content to be great exercises in world building, character building, and lore building. One look at the SW cosplay community would tell you that SW is as diverse as the SW universe itself. Leave a good thing alone.

    Load of rubbish how this got made and was green lighted for £180 million budget baffles me. Series is honestly nothing. Story starts and then ends with no weight or quantity for the story. The more I think about this series the more I get annoyed. Writing is shocking and series is so underwhelming. Went into it not expecting anything and I’m still leaving with feeling more let down at the state of Disney Star Wars.

      Well to be fair, the Jedi Temple is literally built on top of a well of dark side energy. The same as cave that Luke went into on Dagobah. The Jedi did this as a sign that they had bested the sith but in reality the dark side energy just ended up weakening their connection to the force. So it's not that far fetched that even Yoda's mind would be clouded.

It still bothers me that they are created by the force. Take the magic away from Anakin and twins Luke en Leia. The ending when Osha goes dark side en joins Qimir not a big fan. I think that is bad writing. Wouldn't surpise me now that they wil train Mae to be a jedi. The fact that they gonna make a season 2 is mind blowing. One season was enough. This season was not bad but not good 😅. It's hard to describe this show.. 😅.
