Basically, this video is saying that Disney sucks at creating content that anybody wants to watch. Netflix and HBO can create popular content with many viewers. I blame Disney management for not knowing how to hire talented writers and show runners.

I really disagree with many of the arguments being made. Sexists/Who Don’t Like Diversity: Do such people exist? Yes. Is it a large number? Obviously not. People disliked the trailer because it didn’t show anything substantial, and Acolyte was a weak series that didn’t interest anyone and even frustrated fans because it was a catastrophically bad story preceded by an equally disastrous promotional campaign. Claiming That Channels Like SW Theory Are Hate Channels: That’s a lie. While I don’t agree with the idea that “if you like/dislike something, you’re not a true Star Wars fan,” and I’m against it, during Acolyte, it was impossible to have a normal, objective conversation. I heard this sentiment from both sides. However, if you manage to listen to the other side’s arguments, you might even find points of agreement. For example, I agree with some things from SW Theory, but not all. I particularly remember how Theory liked Ventress's return while I was angry because I felt cheated by the ending of Dark Disciple. Review Bombing: Logically speaking, what stopped those who liked Acolyte from defending it through positive review bombing? Nothing, except that such people would have to exist. The truth is, since that didn’t happen, it shows that very few people wanted to defend this series, and those who did were overwhelmed by negative opinions. 2:14 - The Mandalorian? Star Wars needs to take risks, and this is a perfect example. Mando was the biggest risk, and it became the biggest success. But I agree that the numbers were the deciding factor here, which shows that Disney doesn't care about the opinions of fans, which is sad. As for my opinion on the series, it’s a 3/10, and I’m inclined to rate it even lower. I absolutely didn’t want a second season because I consider the writing to be an effect of incompetence. Don’t get me wrong-the concept is brilliant, but the writing literally sabotages the show’s ideas. I hope this doesn’t mean a return to the eras we already know, because we need expansion and something new. Star Wars must take risks, and Acolyte should be a lesson, not an excuse to retreat.

I am a brit (from wiltshire) and I respect that you defend your stance, and I agree brits have exceptional thick skin when it comes to critique. I also agree vitriol spreads, especially with content creators making clickbait videos.......... However, I must add, if a majority say it's got an agenda (saying majority with viewing numbers so low for acolyte)... maybe you can't see it because you don't want to? I mean you can call it hilarious but its fairly evident in Acolyte with the heavy-handed story, that it had a clear agenda. I work in media (predominantly games) I am seeing the same backlash in games as to what I am seeing in films, the general public want good stories and deep characters regardless of sex/race/gender. A fine example 2 games are getting the same treatment acolyte got, those games are Concord and Dustborn. Playerbase is exceptionally low on those games because people are tuning away from the woke content. (yes I am using the phrase woke here). I think a lot of general audience just don't care about gender politics or forced DEI for the sake of it and yes Acolyte had a lot of politics in play with the story/coven. I am an avid star wars fan, love the originals, fascinated by the prequels, loathe /hate the sequels. Loved Andor, loved Mandalorian. Disney keep dropping the ball with the star wars content, then have a moment of greatness then take 5 steps back. Each show / film they do which is bad it slowly erodes the fanbase, newer fans don't support it and older fans are tuning away from it. Star wars needs a course correction back to the original magic. Disney as you mentioned only care about profits,so I really do hope disney change their tune and really focus on amazing stories from a galaxy far far away.

What is it with Disney Star Wars stans and their utter distain for legitimate criticism? Every time that someone expressed their dislike for the new content, they either get lumped in with the few assholes who are causing trouble within the fandom or are met with accusations with bigotry and racism.

I'm not the biggest fan of the acolyte i didn't like the show except for maybe episode 5 and the final episode. But when Ahsoka the show came out I was branded a Disney shill because it's my favourite Disney Star Wars show. Also Ahsoka is my fave character since 2008 so ofcourse I'm gonna be bias. I dont care what people call me or what they think about me. I'm always going to speak my mind and you should too.

The show was objectively 💩, too expensive, and a totsl failure. It deserved to be scrapped in the concept table, not just cancelled after 1 miserable season. I'm frankly surprised Disney wasn't willing to keep burning money for this garbage

It's mind-boggling to me to see the amount of haters there are out there. You're right. They're bullies. Honestly, if you are content with you life, genuinely content, then you should have zero desire to be a bully. They honestly need to seek help. It's sad. To me, it's kind of like noticing an ex constantly bothering you or staying on the sidelines and mocking you, trying to destroy your life. They notice that you're happy without them, and yet they want to bring you down. I think Star Wars did mean something to them, and somehow, it let them down. The Acolyte couldn't keep it's Ep1&2 base. That's the short of it. I tuned in and lasted until ep4 when I quit. I've watched every minute of live action Disney Lucasfilm up to that point. My tolerance levels are high but I couldn't take any more. It was awful. IF (like Andor) there was any quality on display then it would have retained and even improved on those initial figures (as Andor did). The quality was just not there and anybody saying it was doesn't know the first thing about the fundamentals of making successful entertainment. It has zero to do with number of episodes and episode length. Is you argument seriously along the lines that The Acolyte needed more episodes and longer runtimes? Delusional. That terrible viewership falloff also has NOTHING to do with the accusations of "review bombing" putting people off. The initial audience was ALREADY THERE. They just didn't stick around, as I didn't.

I didn't review bomb anything, I just made a decision not to watch. You badmouth the other TH-camrs in this space but they spend tons of time going over every minute detail of the shows they love (and hate). You appear to just be whining that other people don't care for a show that you happen to like.

Lore inconsistencies and disrespect to the existing lore is why real fans stopped watching the show. It came off as a fan-fic written by someone who didn't really know star wars. You cannot just ignore the Rule of Two. You cannot take the most unique thing about Anakin and say "My characters did that too. Twice." And you cannot retcon a well known character like Ki Adi Mundi at the drop of a hat. Fans will see this as lazy at best, malicious at worst.

SWT watched the entire season of the Acolyte and so did I. So saying people who disliked the show didn't watch or didn't analyze it is a load of BS. Theory had a video analyzing each episode. Here is my analysis. The writing is atrocious. There were so many things not explained and I'll list what I can remember here ⬇ Why did the Beaver sabotage Sol's ship? Don't know. How did a witch turn into a fart cloud? What power was she using to do this? Don't know. How/why were the sisters the same person? Don't know. How did a small fire burn down a giant stone mountain? Don't know. In the final episode Sol could've communicated and explained to Osha what happened with her mother, why didn't he? Don't know. Why did Mae need her mind wiped when the Jedi still knew Qimir and Osha were out there? Don't know. Why did Mae want to kill the Jedi then suddenly want to turn herself in but then change her mind again seconds later back to wanting them dead? Don't know. The moths attacked light but why didn't they attack the 7 Jedi and Qimir using lightsabers? Don't know. I could go on and on as there are many other we don't know why tf this happened stuff in the show but I hope you get the point. Then you have Ki-Adi-Mundi who was not alive and Wookiepedia changing his birth date. The writing was garbage as I've just explained and Amandla's acting was....is some of the worst acting I've ever seen in a movie/tv show. And everyone with a working brain knows Disney is casting actors based on gender and race instead of getting the best actor. It's box checking trash to pander to an audience that is basically non existent and the proof of that is in the extremely low ratings for the show. The Acolyte relied on characters not communicating with each other for the story to happen. That's bad storytelling 101. Did I analyze the show thoroughly enough for ya Simon?

A show advertised as a murder mystery which was not in any way in that genre, with dull yet morally bankrupt characters who change their minds from minute to minute - and it failed? Yes, the budget was too much for the quality of the show. You don't spend that kind of money for mediocre fan-fiction level writing. And, no, it's viewership was horrible. People came in hot and heavy and then bailed by episode 3. Had they didn't have such a huge drop so early on, Disney would have considered a second season, but if it can't sustain viewership in one season, how the hell can they expect people to come back for season 2? In summary, the show is objectively bad and no one was interested in it. Plain and simple.
