A lot of people have pointed out that when Qimir was doing his thing, the Kylo Ren music played. Does that mean he is an early Knight of Ren? Or maybe he is the first Ren? All we know about them is that they were around before the galactic civil war, supposedly for centuries, but idk stories of the boogie man can be weird and unreliable. But they were around. Everything else we know is from Kylo-ish time frame when a group of raiders who claimed to be them or named themselves after the legend of the knights popped out of obscurity to fill the force power void left by the fallen jedi and, subsequently, the fallen sith, as well. So maybe this is Qimir Ren, who actually started the knights... collecting the dark acolytes he so desperately wants. His vibe and outlook on the force is verrrry similar the theirs. @@burnbearscomedy it's a squiffy bit of history. In the comics (I haven't read, I wiki'd), Kylo killed the previous Ren and took over the knights. But in the wiki, that group popped up claiming to be the legendary knights, which there are apparently "centuries" of legend about them as raiders in the unknown regions. So maybe the modern Kylo knights are tied to the ogs or maybe they just took a scary name to stand on the legend and be scary. In either case, it would def be like each Ren leader probably killed the former leader to take the title, like Kylo did. So mayyyybe this is the first Ren and maybe Osha will be his first Knight. And since killing a "worthy target" is how to become a Knight, in the modern times, maybe she will kill Sol without a weapon, when she learns whatever the jedi actually did. And he will make her his acolyte, his Knight. Idk. Qimir is much stronger with the force than most of the Rens/Knights in Kylos time - those were just modern darksiders that felt the dark side gave them their power and they believed in using it for their own ends in any way they want. Not unlike Qimirs goals, but without formal training, it's a much more diluted version. So bc of that, I think there's still room Qimir was trained by a sith (or maybe a fallen jedi). Here, let me help you get through this: Qimir isn't a Sith, which is why he says that a Jedi like Sol would call him a Sith. That's very different from saying that you are one. Qimir is the "false" apprentice of Darth Tenebrous. Due to the Rule of Two, a Sith lord can only take one (official) apprentice, and Tenebrous already has a "true" apprentice...Darth Plageuis. Only a master and his apprentice can be Sith and carry the "Darth" title. Since Qimir is the false apprentice, he cannot be a Sith nor be called "Darth." Sol can't tell that Mae is impersonating Osha because the death of the other Jedi has completely unbalanced him and blinded his senses. Osha stops Sol from killing Qimir in cold blood because he is totally unbalanced and this is the act that will push him over to the Dark Side. Mae has no interest in becoming Sith, being evil or serving as someone's apprentice. All she wants is revenge for her murdered family which is why she decides to turn herself in once she finds out Osha is still alive, but when Qimir shows up and wastes the Jedi she realizes they can't protect her and so she legs it. Qimir's helmet and vambrace are made of cortosis which not only reflects the energy of a light saber but actually channels that energy back into the weapon, causing it to short out briefly. The abandoned mine on Brendock that Mae and Osha grew up in was owned by the public identity of Darth Tenebrous (he was the famous star ship designer Rugess Nome) and yes, it was a cortosis mine. The stun gun has no effect on Qimir because he's wearing a cortosis helmet, which simply dissipates the energy. A stunner works on the principle of shorting out the neural pathways of the brain...but if you're wearing a cortosis helmet then its ineffective. Tenebrous, Plageuis and Venamus (Qimir) would have spent time there after the hyperspace disaster once the witches were discovered squatting in the ruins of the facility. This is why Qimir has so much inside information about what happened there and its also why he has access to the basic versions of certain witch abilities (Force healing, disappearing and reappearing like Batman, projecting himself into someone's mind.) This also explains how Qimir knew who Mae and Osha were and why he recruited Mae as his acolyte. The mystery of what happened on Brendock is interesting in the sense that it fills in some blanks and explains why the Jedi were all acting so guilty, but it literally has little to no bearing on the story and simply gives us back story on Mae and Osha. Beyond that, it is of NO IMPORTANCE, so don't get impatient for the reveal. Everything in season 1...EVERYTHING...is really just set up for the subsequent seasons which will now never happen. Nothing in this season is really vital, its just scene setting. The story of the show is NOT about Mae and Osha, its about Qimir rebelling against his master and trying to find an apprentice...an acolyte...to help even the odds. The "killing without a weapon," thing is important because there is no way that Tenebrous is going to allow Qimir and his +1 into his immediate presence while they are armed. The show fooled us into thinking that Mae was the bad sister and Osha was the good sister, and we all bought it. Qimir doesn't give two shits about Mae now that he has access to Osha. To Qimir, Mae was always just a "doing the best you can with what you got," solution...but now that he has Osha, he has a person who can actually become his acolyte for real, and help him kill Tenebrous and Plageuis, which is what he wanted all along. After watching, "The Rise of Skywalker," I thought I couldn't possibly hate Disney any more than I already did, but the cancellation of this show has made me revise that statement. I now know that I possess extra reserves of anger available to shit on Disney at any moment. I was really stoked to see Qimir go after Tenebrous and Plageuis starting next season even though I know the story from Legends and I know what happens (Qimir/Venamus fails and endures a fate worse than death...no really, its fucking horrific.) I know I'm simply restating this, but I want everyone to know that I piss on Disney from a very...VERY...great height.
10:27 This story like much of modern Star Wars borrowed from previous works, what came before. Palpatine played a bumbling fool part when being saved by Anakin and Obi-Wan from General Grievous. This is how Sith survived all these years, they had to learn to blend in and be unassuming. 11:18 I love how Yord went straight for the Cortosis bracelet and immediately hit Qimir's lightsaber with his own helmet. Say what you will about York, but the guy is an avid observer; he saw how Qimir was besting them, and he took that knowledge into round two. Sadly, it wasn't enough, but he gave the others a chance. I will miss Yord and Jecki. 12:15 If Capcom made a Jedi vs Sith fighting game, you would definitely hear the words for special attacks! I can see it now, instead of the announcer saying, "Fight!" We'd hear, "May the Force be with you." 13:10 The issue is killing with ANGER. Mace cut off Jango's head and nothing bad happened, remember? It's the whole striking someone down while enraged. Sol was pretty f'ing pissed right then. Osha saved him from a terrible fate. 14:10 I know this is a reaction video and for that to work well, you need to react in the moment, but sometimes you have to see the full picture to get it. This scene, the story as a whole really, worked for me. Mae has always been motivated by fear--she did what she did 16 years ago because she was afraid to lose her best friend, her sister. Fear makes us do stupid, stupid things. Did Mae really want to kill her sister? No! We know this because of how she acts now. She was hurt that her sister would choose strangers over her, over their family and that hurt built up into an uncontrollable anger that she couldn't control in the moment. There is still a part of this story being kept from us, and I suspect that it's coming next week or the week after that. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that Mae went back and tried to put out the fire that she had started. While Osha was crawling through the pipes to escape the fire, we heard an explosion and all the witches crying out as one. Most watching don't believe that that was Mae's doing. I think the one(s) responsible for what Mother Koril really feared in the forest. Yes, the Jedi were a problem, as Jedi law approved by the Galactic Senate made them and their practice of the Force illegal. Anyone practicing the Force who wasn't Jedi was hunted down and arrested and/or killed. Their culture, religion, or what have you was taken from them; all books they had on their practices were confiscated and locked behind the doors of the Jedi archives on Coruscant. The Jedi might not have been the ones going around the galaxy harming all these other Force users, but they weren't out there fighting for those people's right to exist either. The pact the Jedi made with the Senate was reciprocal and they wanted to maintain that power of influence. The Jedi got to dictate how the Force was to be used, and the Senate approved that, and what they got in exchange was control over the Jedi. From the Jedi point of view, this is a sustainable balance of power that must stay in place, and it is what Master Vernestra wants to protect. She made it very clear in the second episode that the Jedi were already on shaky ground with the Senate. Jedi have political enemies, probably people from the inner rim who had their culture taken from them by the Jedi, and they were just one or two votes away from getting that culture back. The Jedi can't allow that because the last time Force usage went unchecked, the galaxy was embroiled in a war with the Sith. Wrong or right, Master Vernestra is determined to take care of this matter with a select few from the Jedi Security Council. If the Senate were to learn that what has happened was caused by a Sith, the Galaxy would be at war again, putting billions if not trillions of lives at risk. The Galaxy is at peace now, it makes sense that Vernestra would want to take care of this matter herself and sweep the matter under the rug as soon as humanly possible. Still, for her plan to work, someone, a Jedi most likely, is going to have to take a fall for all this. Episode two already laid the groundwork for this when Ki-Adi-Mundi introduced the audience to those who broke away from the Jedi Order, those labeled "rogue Jedi" and "a splinter order." In any case, they cannot let news of the Sith reach anyone in the now, as the entire Republic was built on the notion that the Sith were no more and that what they had done had worked. 15:12 I'm pretty sure Sol already knows he's talking to Mae. He spent the entire series addressing the twins by name to fall back to "she" and "your sister" here? Yeah, Sol knows who he's with. This day was a disaster, but there is a bit of a silver lining. Mae is willing to go with him, so long as he doesn't call her out right here. The Jedi came to Khofar to get Mae, so why jeopardize that now? Get to the ship! 15:50 Yet another hint that Qimir has an ability Palpatine said his master, Darth Plagueis had, the ability to keep those he cared about from dying. Episode two of the series made very strong connections to Palpatine, the Sith, the Dark Side of the Force, and the Witches of Brendok. Sith are witches! Maybe not witches from Mae and Osha's coven, but another one that was also on Brendok. The witches that alerted Mother Aniseya of the Jedi's arrival said that the Jedi sliced through their platform moments before the Jedi peacefully entered their court--why would they enter peacefully if they were willing to slice through platforms? Why did Master Indara insist Master Sol put his lightsaber away when she thought he was going to attack if they were on a mission of peace? What we heard and saw doesn't line up. The word Sith was spoken aloud for millennia at this time, so how would anyone know what one looked like? Sith were the antithesis of Jedi. How would someone who's never seen one know the difference between a Sith and Jedi? Lightsabers are a Jedi's signature weapon, so seeing a lightsaber slicing through a platform would make one think a Jedi did it! Color doesn't matter since Jedi are known to have different color lightsabers, and since the Jedi aren't always policing the Outer Rim what colors a Jedi chooses to use and not use wouldn't matter. A lightsaber is a lightsaber and the only people today using them are Jedi! 16:00 the story isn't over, and this isn't a standalone episode. We are supposed to be confused, but I think we've been given enough information to speculate what's coming. I think we're going to get the other side of that story, and I think we're going to learn that Mae isn't as bad as we thought she was. She's just a scared little girl who's motivated by fear. Yes, she was going to turn herself over to the Jedi because she needed protection from her master, but what do you do when the people you were going to go to for protection can't even protect themselves? You go with plan B and get the hell out of Dodge while the Jedi run defense for you. Mae and Osha are two sides of the same coin, and it was always their mother's intentions for them to stay together, as they balance each other out. Mae going with Sol and Osha going with Qimir, weirdly does that. Mae who's spent most of her life in darkness is about to see the light, and Osha who's spent most of her life in the light is about to be brought into darkness. What will that do to them? I guess we'll find out. I can't wait for the next episode =)
Thank you for leaving such an awesome detailed comment. I think you're correct. I think Osha has more darkness in her than May does. I mean, we haven't gotten the true story of what happened that night. Sol could have used the force to wipe her mind or change her memories. Jedi of this era clearly are capable of that. Osha may see the power and the truth and embrace that darks side, while May may finally understand why Sol did whatever he did and embrace the light.
That was the best (intro) in The Acolyte series. I liked the 2 Jedi "Sith Kabob "🍡 fight choreography. Night🌙 was also the best episode thus far. As I think back💭 to episode 3. The Witches were all dead b4 the fire consumed their covenant. The planet 🌏 The Witches domiciled on wasn't under the jurisdiction of the Republic. So what were "The Jedi" doing there? I think "The Jedi" & "The Witches" were gettin down foul & funky b4 Mae set that...🔥📛 Why was Torbin willing to take that poision? I like the mystery that shrouds this series....

I haven't been watching reactions for The Acolyte, because I didn't want to share in the disappointment I anticipated others were having in watching it. I have been watching reactions to this episode though, because the fights and acting were good, and I expect others would have enjoyed that as well. I am really hoping the last two episodes are good, and the season ends on a high note, but I share in Katie's want for the sith to have been the mother. It would have made soo much sense to me, the rage of losing that tribe/coven. Being the leader of them all, and that means their deaths are slightly on you, as you were the one in charge. You were trying to hide your people from the jedi, so they wouldn't harass you, and then they come in, kill your people, and take your children. It would have made sooo much sense. It would have been a rare time that you might actually have rooted for the sith character. Almost everything in the flashback episode was sadly pointless as well, since we had heard everything that was going to happen in it, as dialogue from the sisters and jedi. The only "new" thing I learned watching that one, was that their mother was very strong with the force, which would have made their mom having been the sith even more sensible.
We're basically just past the mid point, plenty of time for the mother to be shown to be/have been this guy's master; I wouldn't be surprised, given Yord's comments about how he got into their minds, and then Mae saying her mother had the same ability. Also, I've read when an apprentice wants to take the place of their master, they need their own apprentice (acolyte)
That's so nice of you to say! We've always wanted to do something like that, but honestly have no idea how to get started in work like that. That's a huge compliment. Thank you.
@BurnBears there’s a theory on episode 3 during the ceremony behind the mother witches is a mysterious sith figure in black robes that dint show his face could be pleagus or his master or smilo ren since it wasn’t a witch
They were so well versed in the dark side it would make since if the real Sith Lord had his hand in the twins creation the whole time. Like a Force Father or something? No idea
@BurnBears true and I get the feeling he’s the origin/first knight of ren and leader and ancestor of ren cuse of his back helmet and Kyle ren theme song played twice
@BurnBears and I think he’s been taught and trained by a witch cuse of the getting into the Jedi mind trick and levitating and I think the same symbol on his back without the cloak on
From what I saw from one of the creators on twitter they had ep length limits. Like 4&5 were supposed to be one ep, but it was too long and they had to break it up bc the execs said so. I don't think it's all this, but I do think some of the edit and pacing issues are corporate interference, unfortunately. Which kinda bums me out bc just let them tell the story.
@@burnbearscomedy 100%. I mean I don't want to let them off the hook bc if their intent isn't coming across to a lot of people (the genuinely interested ones) then it's still not great. What I'm curious about is that Darkside Kaimir doesn't respond even when hit with a stun gun, but why does Master Sol, who has the same level of force, fall with just one stun gun?
The cortosis armor he's wearing that disrupts the lightsabers also absorbs blaster fire. It's only been in books and stuff until now, but it he canon in the new thrawn books.
The helmet and arm protectors are probably Cortosis weave armor that's resistant to lightsabers and causes them to temporarily short out.
That’s incredible. Thank you for the info
100% cortosis

Couldn't agree more. That Intro went so hard. I'm super excited to find out the rest of the secrets of this show.
Beautiful episode indeed. 4th & 5th should've been as one & that set as S01E04 "Day & Night" 🙂 Episode length is one of the few le sigh - in Beautiful The Acolyte S01 🤔 I look forward to seeing if David Harewood appears as Tenebrous by end of El Nice S01 😋 Have a good time with El Fine The Acolyte S01 via D+ & good journey to Galaxy Far, Far Away 🧘♂ I always do so with "65 4K Led Telly, 5.1 Wireless headphones in a dark room 🙂
I was hoping for a twin of Sol, imagine my disappointment.
And the sith prevail. Also mom can’t be that ripped lol
First was waiting for this reaction cause holy moly was insane episode i loved it the fight scene was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The fights were BANANAS! So good. Hope you enjoyed the react!!!
@@burnbearscomedy yes your right about the edit was weird
Off topic: you guys have cool distinctive voices. You should look into cartoon voicework
That's so nice of you to say! We've always wanted to do something like that, but honestly have no idea how to get started in work like that. That's a huge compliment. Thank you.
Turned to confusion, enthusiasm has. Yes, hmmm.
10:05 - Shocking and sad, but probably the best executed scene in the series (no pun intended).
@BurnBears and I think he’s been taught and trained by a witch cuse of the getting into the Jedi mind trick and levitating and I think the same symbol on his back without the cloak on
@BurnBears the symbol looks like the one witch symbol that envelope mae took from osha and burned it while trapping her in her room
@BurnBears I think the witches are a cult of followers of abeloth cuse of the black eyes and the smile grin on the mask I bet they worship her
From what I saw from one of the creators on twitter they had ep length limits. Like 4&5 were supposed to be one ep, but it was too long and they had to break it up bc the execs said so. I don't think it's all this, but I do think some of the edit and pacing issues are corporate interference, unfortunately. Which kinda bums me out bc just let them tell the story.
It always seems to be corporate producers that mess everything up. So I’m not surprised. Business people should stay out of art
@@burnbearscomedy 100%. I mean I don't want to let them off the hook bc if their intent isn't coming across to a lot of people (the genuinely interested ones) then it's still not great. But shows, like stranger things or shogun, where they just let it be how long it has to be to tell the story are so much better.
YESSS! Stranger Things is the best example of letting creatives go nuts and how incredible it can be. We are definitely reacting to the final season btw. It’s a must
@@burnbearscomedy right on. Love your vibes and humor together so I'll be there!
I saw your reaction and you had a blast, just admid it. Its alright to give in. The series as a whole beomes better and better. I like it already more than prequels 1 and 2. Qirims transisition to the villain was flawless, the words he said where written very good aswell. Be grown ups and just admit you where to fast jumping on the hate train. I did like the reaction, but not the conclusion, you seemed so desperate to look for flaws... i am very torn between like and dislike on this video, ;)
If you watch our earlier reacts we’ve been defending this show the whole time.
This is the first episode we really had any problems with and it was only about the editing and obvious twist. Go check lol
@@burnbearscomedy thank you for the answer... sorry, this was very dumb of me, the internet is just so full of hate, i was just asuming. Thank you for beeing constructive and positive!
It’s all good. You’re totally correct. We’ve been fighting these haters as well lmao. Keep up the good fight.
I wouldn’t like to watch a show with an overly critical person , searching for any flaws they can see instead of enjoying the show . Please calm down , it’s just fantasy entertainment . Save your serious issues to your politics.
Watch our other reacts before assuming we’re being overly critical. This episode wasn’t edited well and the twist was obvious. We’ve defended this show THE WHOLE TIME
😂
What I'm curious about is that Darkside Kaimir doesn't respond even when hit with a stun gun, but why does Master Sol, who has the same level of force, fall with just one stun gun?
My theory is his helmet observed the blast. Maybe it’s both saber and stun proof??? Or they just made him OP AF
The cortosis armor he's wearing that disrupts the lightsabers also absorbs blaster fire. It's only been in books and stuff until now, but it he canon in the new thrawn books.
