I love my CX-5, originally I was debating between a Honda crv vs the CX-5. But reliability speaking they are about on the same level after 2017, when Mazda bought back their stake from ford; and ever since then they been on the uphill! I have a Mazda CX-5 2018 grand touring, and couldn’t love it more!! I’ve driven more than 130k miles and have had no problems at all! Just the normal oil changes and such! Mazda brings a more upscale feel to there cars and doesn’t use a CVT! I think Mazda is one of the under represented brands out there!

I wish I had the change to drive the CX-5 turbo. The honda CR-V is over-priced garbage.

Honestly the cx5 just needs their new 8 speed transmission or and updated version of their 6 speed. And i bet fuel economy and pickup would benefit great. Otherwise the cx5 is timeless and still seems to be one of the better choices for all around fun and reliability in this segment.

theres no need for an 8 speed transmission

Funny that some of these reviewers don’t know Mazda cx5 does have touch screen. Go into settings to enable it. This is a nice review though. Thank you! Trying to decide between these two. 😮‍💨

Mazda has the backseat split of 60/40/20 and it is actual leather, not leatherette.

Comfortable in the back seat for teenagers maybe. Can't believe this guy says space is about the same in both. Luxury interior? A bit of soft touch equals luxury interior now huh. It's got the most basic, most generic look for the interior. Why do most reviews keep saying that when it literally isn't?

Don't buy a CR-V! The Mazda looks nice. Getting the 2024 CRV AWD EX was the most expensive mistake of my life, I left my oil burning 2016 VW golf for this terrible machine. Unfortunately, I was under time pressure at the time and I'd always wanted something bigger than the Golf, but didn't have a lot of time to shop around. I should have tried harder to get to the Mazda dealer. Honda has this "amazing" reputation and I didn't want to get another Rav 4 (wife & daughter drive one). The Honda's engine seems a bit peppier than the 2020 RAV4 although still sluggish and strained. The only thing the CR-V brings to the table is that it has more cargo space and AWD. However, compared to the Golf, the amount of convenient cabin storage space is garbage. With Honda you get one giant bin in the middle and tiny door pockets. The "safety" features on the CR-V are highly overrated. This car has SO much visibility, that blind spot monitoring is an unnecessary gimmick. The adaptive cruise control is actually DANGEROUS! I use cruise control ALL the time. Including on local 2 lane highways. Multiple times, the system started braking the vehicle when there was NO obstacle present. At least two of these times, I believe it had something to do with reflection of sunlight off something to the side of the road. One time was on a four lane divided highway bridge! Additionally, a light misty rain will disable adaptive cruise control and then the control panel screams at you to "clean" the front sensor which is the badge located on the front of the grill. One safety feature that you'd expect to come standard on such an expensive vehicle, doesn't. That's rain sensing windshield wipers, a feature that my eight year old 2016 Golf had! The back-up camera has nice features, but are useless because the camera is mounted in such a way that it's always hard to see clearly. The VW golf hid the camera under the badge and NEVER required cleaning. I've also never heard of a car that turns off the radio with the engine when you park. Most cars leave it on until the door is opened so you can finish listening to a song or podcast. On the honda, you have to go through a complex set of steps putting it in park, but releasing the brake before you release the shifter button and then press the ignition twice to keep the radio on. The remote engine start at 100 ft on a good day is also useless to me as I work at a pretty big facility with large lots out of range of the buildings. If I had to guess, I'd say that every honda engineer that designed the CR-V took a train to work and had never commuted in their own vehicle before in their life. I'd rather drive a thoughtfully well designed, fun car and start burning oil at 80K than this poorly designed, over-priced gimmick. I should have stayed with a German car.

Not only that but its so superficial... cruise control? You bought a car to not drive it?? Give me a break ive never heard someone dump on a car whose engine will last them decades because "back up camera not high enough???"
