It’s kind of unfortunate that you didn’t really acknowledge how much of a love letter this game is to Luigi and Mario’s brotherly bond. Dreams Deep really showcases how much Luigi loves his older brother, and things he feels confident about, such as a piece of text that says “I catch ghosts!“ or “My bro is the best!“. Especially when Mario heads off after Bowser and Antasma, and Luigi says “We’re here for you bro. Always.“ Or how prior to giant battles, the luiginarys always say stuff like "Gotta help big bro!" Or "Big bro in danger!" and how prior to the Zeekeeper's giant battle, the luiginarys gather around Mario and form a protective circle around him. Hell the confidence plotline you mentioned is followed up in the giant battle against Bowser, where instead of cowering underneath his hat, Luigi pulls it down in confidence. The ending of the game caps it off perfectly too, throughout the series, Bowser has always called Luigi "green stache", but at the end of Dream Team, he fully recognizes Luigi as a threat and is equal to Mario. I do agree the game has pacing issues, (especially with the UltaBed fetch quest), but I feel what I mentioned should not be ignored.
AntDude: *explains about the giant coin that gives everyone infinite money* Me: "The previous game was all about inflation... and this one ended with it."
Hey, all! Apologies for the reupload. There was a visual issue in the one earlier today that I went ahead and fixed. Many of you didn’t even notice, but I want to make these videos as good as they can be. And here’s the final cut! Thank you for understanding. Enjoy!
Definitely my favorite part about the whole game is when you look a little bit deeper into the writing. ESPECIALLY for Luigi. If I am correct, Luigi’s dream version of Monsieur Block describes Luigi as *the perfect version of himself* and it’s just making him a tad taller and cleaning up his stache a bit. Despite being the butt of a lot of jokes, Luigi is happy with who he is physically, Mario gives him hope, and that’s what he fights to protect
2 years late but I remember going through dreams deep and seeing all of Luigis deep inner thoughts and I just... it was amazing, because it shows that even with everyone's theories, Luigi is happy with how things are, he's okay with being the number 2, the support, because he wants to be the support to his bigger brother.
One of my favorite things about this game is that Bowser kinda develops as a competent villian after M&L BIS and that can be seen in this game such as -Bowser using some of his moves from BIS like his air punch, rolling spike shell, going giant and eventually the vacuum shroom. -him putting kidnapping peach aside to team up with Antasma and steal the dream stone. -going into Bowser's dream in neo bowser castle shows that he dreams more that just kidnapping peach and wants total domination. -he betrays Antasma so he can have the dream stone and the world all to himself. -Swallowing the dream stone shards as a last ditch effort to save it only to make him a god of dreams. -and showing some respect to Kamek, the elite trio and even Luigi himself. I'd say Bowser was on par as threatening as he was in super mario galaxy 1 and 2.(IMO)
That's what I noticed, this time Luigi was a little more respected than being shown as a 'comic relief', to the point that the other characters didn't pay any attention to him, OniLuigi's fight against Bowser shows a change, the real-world Luigi smiles when his dream version goes to fight against Bowser.
I think the reason the Tutorial Battle was actually dealt with so quickly in terms of lore is because Luigi would think Mario can deal with any big, scary monster just like that.
Especially in the Antasma fights when he uses the bat moves. When I had a 2DS I was so confused how to dodge. Then when I got a N3DSXL it made sooo much sense
It is worth mentioning that the only reason why Antasma is beaten in like 5 seconds is because of it being Luigi’s dream, and through this way he sees Mario as the really strong hero brother, it’s actually kind of cute the way Luigi looks up to his bro so much.
One of the things I love about this game is how it brought together alot of citizens of the M and L universe. We got to see way more of the Block citizens. The Bean Bean and Hoo-ish citizens came back. Yoshis are all over the place. And Toads were to be expected. Heck, we even got some brand new citizens to add to the universe, like the Shelltops and Pillos. And it was nice seeing characters like Popple, Broque Monseuir, Kallie Koopa and the Elite Trio again. And all these inclusions don't feel forced since Pillo Island was turned into a brand new tourist destination.
Missed opportunity for Popple to interact with Bowser since he made him his rookie M&L SS, it would have been both hilarious and a neat little callback.
I forgot about all those NPCs from the previous entries that returned in Dream Team. I knew certain characters like you mentioned came back, but not of the random species. That fact makes me even sadder that Paper Jam just took the Sticker Star route and filled the entire world with Toads.
Something that i have noticed, the majority of the friendly characters from Mario and Luigi perspective of Bowser's inside story are Toads in majority, while in Dream team Bros, it's more varied, even Popple returned, so does Kylie Koopa who barely remember the brothers, the friendly characters were more varied than the previous games.
@@medoli900 nah. Luigi's *much* better than that purple toothpick anyways. I say they remake dream team for the switch and another Luigi's mansion game where you can also play as daisy
I’m sorry but... Antasma’s Final boss fight is almost the same as the tutorial one? Did we, play the same game? I remember there being way more attacks to their second than just turning into bats and flying at Mario, including a part where they tear out dreamy Luigi and trap them in a power up orb which if eaten powers them up tremendously, a phase where they enter into their own little sleep mode and gradually restore health, and so on.
Yea Ant Dude overlooked this, he actually overlooked a lot of things. If you want to see a more in depth opinion on this game that covers a lot of details that Ant Dude missed. You can check out HatWearingGamer's video of his opinion. th-cam.com/video/ZRzX0Dci4go/w-d-xo.html
That complaint was strangely exaggerated. The two fights share literally one attack, and Antasma has quite a few more in the second. I'm not sure why he's making such a big deal about it.
I have it... but i am struggling to keep being invested. And, the enemies just aren't as interesting. Where are the fat candy goomba's? The fire furnace goomba's? The more fun enemies instead of... small orb with different eyes.
AntDude you have missed some of the most important aspects of the game. Like example, how amazing the places in this game are... Mount Pajamaja, how there is a friking troll game over screen, Somnom Woods, how there is such diverse music in the Dream world and in the Normal World. And how in Wakeport, how you meet an old character from PiT and there are 4 bosses in the dream world you have to beat in order to continue, and the other places in the story. You missed on how great it utilized the 3d system on the 3DS, how well they made every place of the game into. You forgot to talk about the great bosses in the game. They were new and really great bosses. Don't forget how Antasma was such a great antagonist, and at the end Bowser completely forgets about him and he himself becomes the final boss. And, even though there were many stuff added from Bowser Inside Story, and how there were small problems in the story, it is still a great game and deserves to be more appreciated.
Antdude sounded a bit more negative to this game more than the others. It’s sad too, this game is under appreciated and is great overall. I still do appreciate his criticisms to the game.
This game is worth playing just to see Luigi's smile before the fight against Giant Bowser, sweet character development. And of course, the best boss song in the franchise, in addition to Adventure's End being just as good as The Grand Finale.
@@justinstephens8432 Amen to your amen! Like omg this right here- no words can describe how insanely proud I was and still am of Luigi of that very moment in Dream Team 🥺🙏 AND YESS THE BEST BOSS MUSIC LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK 📢
Dream Team was truly the peak of AlphaDream. So much effort and story put into the palm of your hand and basically saving the 3DS's name by its release. The humor was pure, the mechanics were outstanding, and the overall gameplay was incredible. Bringing back previous characters from the series, an entire new island thats not the mushroom kingdom (which is one of the reasons Superstar Saga popped off so well) and the many references in it of itself. AlphaDream was truly one of the main backbones of the 3DS to this day and will always be so. They have done so much for Nintendo and they deserve so much respect. #bringbackAlphaDream
Shame they declared bankruptcy… had it been Partners in time getting the remake over BIS, probably would have turned out differently… I wonder what they would haven done next for Mario and Luigi?
Dream Team has by far the best soundtrack out of all the Mario RPGs. Nearly every track is stellar, especially the title theme, the boss battle theme, the Antasma battle theme, and the final boss theme.
I agree. Even though I'm not a fan of the game itself, the soundtrack in Dream Team is top notch. Easily my favorite of the Mario & Luigi's soundtrack. Though I do have an soft spot for Superstar Saga & Bowser's Inside Story soundtrack as well.
The Year of Luigi can never end if you replace EVERYONE with Luigi i mean that's not what happened in this game but you did get to have like 100 Luigis, and you get to twirl his nose so good enough
Though I feel like this game is underrated I feel as if they could have done more with the story. It's about going in luigis head so I expected that we should be able to see what he thinks about what's going on but instead they didn't do much. We all know that Luigi has a inferiority complex with Mario constantly feeling like Mario gets all the attention so not seeing how Luigi feels about this is a bit of a missed opportunity. And it's almost as if this game hates Luigi because Luigi gets hit into walls and just gets messed up. Still really like this game though.
Personally I consider Dream Team one of the top 3 in the series. The music, however, is in my opinion the best in the series. The issues Anthony pointed out were very justified. Overall I feel Dream Team is one of the better Mario & Luigi games
As much as i like this game, i do agree the pacing is hella slow and the tutorials are boring asf. But its still a original piece with original characters and has that hilarious charm. Not to mention besides grinding, the game is actually fun..b4 everyone finally started to hate gyro controls. Finally glad this piece was reviewed. Cant wait next month for paper jam...👀
the tutorial antasma fight and the final antasma fight aren't really that similar... the tutorial has one attack, while the final fight has a lot more attacks and mechanics. I don't see how this is super similar. also, I personally really like this game. not much to say there, I just like it a lot.
Did we fight the same Antasma? He gains SO many new attacks in his second phase. His tutorial fight was basically just him turning into bats for a couple turns and that's it. His second fight has so many dangerous attacks and crazy dynamics that it's basically night and day. Don't even get me started on the fact that you get stuck in a nightmare loop if you take too much damage in the second fight. IMO the buildup to that second fight was incredible and Antasma remains one of my favorite Mario bosses of all time.
out of the many mario rpgs, including paper mario, This was a particularly harder one. Like this is a kids game but the bosses had over 9000 health and really hard action commands to dodge.
@Dingo Insurance Also the final boss pretty much kills you in one hit regardless of your level or anything. Oh and in case you're wondering, Bowser Jr's actually the secret final boss.
I'll be honest, a lot of these issues just... didn't bother me. Yeah, the pacing is wonky at times, but as someone who plays through games at my own pace, I'm okay with mashing through some tutorials. The sprite work isn't as quite good, but the added 3d depth from the 3ds makes up for that. The story is a little basic, but the worldbuilding is fantastic. I don't know, Dream Team kinda overcomes its faults for me. And oddly, despite BIS being more fun IMO, I think DT's my personal favorite. I completely respect your opinion though, and the video was quite well made!
Ik this comment was made a year ago, but you have no idea how happy this comment made me... This is my first and absolute favorite game in the series and one of my favorite games in general ever! It did so much for me back then and I've played it so many times, it hurts when I see so many complaints... So seeing people like you defending it or putting it in a more positive light makes me so happy ;w; Yes, the game is FAR from flawless, but honestly I don't care, just like you said, the pros outweigh the cons by a landslide for me and I'm just able to appreciate this game for what it is wholeheartedly 🥺💕 DT will forever be my personal favorite, and honestly? As amazing as BiS is and how much fun I've had with it as well, it's hella overrated, all the M&L games deserve love and praise in their own right, not just Bowser's Inside Story!
I said it before and I'll say it again: Dream Team is my favorite game in the Mario and Luigi series: took everything Bowser's Inside story did and cranked it up to 11. I would love to see this game get an HD remake ☺️ Thanks again Any Dude 👏
Honestly, the length didn't bother me much at all. Although the tutorials overdid it, I usually didn't think that the areas dragged TOO much, but there was definitely padding. And conceptually speaking I am 100 percent on board with a Mario RPG being super long, because I love these games and am very sad when they end.
More liked flushed it down from Bowser's Inside Story honestly. I still think Dream Team is an ok game. Just not on the same level as Bowser's Inside Story. If the tutorials weren't all over the place and the pacing wasn't dreadful & wasted with all the padding stuff, than this game could've been alot better. Also; not an fan of how gyroscopes works in an handheld & this one isn't an exception.
Okay but like the moment in the last giant luigi fight where Luigi grabs his hat in confidence instead of in fear like the previous ones. It’s such a good detail. I can’t believe it wasn’t mentioned
I really liked the scenes before Luigi gets gigantic, at the first battles he looks scared and insecure, but in the last two ones, he learns to control his power to save Mario. Thats a hero.
Not gonna lie, looking back on it, most of your complaints really were nothing complaints that were likely caused by playing through a whole bunch of the game in one sitting, because I can't even do that with Bowser's inside Story.
21:00 Saying that “you kinda just use the same strategies that you used at the start of the game just more” for the Antasma fight is straight up wrong lol. The only thing you could do at the beginning of the game was jump
Don't forget the vore. His favourite game in the series is all about vore, his iconic favourite character is Kirby(master of vore), and much more. AntDude? More like *FetishDude!* ...gotem
I think Dream Team is my favorite because of the ideas it puts forth. I've never had as much trouble with pacing as much as other people do with, like, any media I take in lol. So with this game, I just appreciate all the unique and nuanced ideas that come up in gameplay. The bosses in particular feel way cooler than anything before. I love that final Antasma fight (which is nothing like the tutorial fight what???), feels like a way sicker penultimate fight than Fawful or younger princess Shroob or Fawful again. The main part of why I love the bosses so much is that rather than mostly differing in what sorts of attacks they use, these bosses all have many variations in gimmicks throughout. There are of course a couple standard hit you lots guys like Grobot or Torkscrew, but then there are all the bosses that use adds to spice up their encounters, especially in the Dreamy bosses. Pi'illodium with healing bots, Mammoshka with all the different possible helmets, and I can't forget my absolute faves, being the Elite Trio's unique offense-defense-support dynamic, Kamek for introducing a similar concept but in a much more focused and chaotic way, and the bonus Bowser Jr. boss that has so many fun attacks and ways the fight uniquely changes throughout its duration (stealing his clown car *rules*). So yeah, I love how this game plays not just cause it's Mario and Luigi but it's Mario and Luigi with more fun gameplay ideas than ever.
Wait The intro sequence was a dream? How did I never know this, as a kid I just assumed the blimp perfectly fell into the blimp lot and nobody cared, and I guess antasma was able to be in the real world I guess
"Dreambert" "he's a big ol' dork" may i add an adorable one? And yeah the tutorials were annoying at times but honestly they didn't bother me. honestly even during my second playthrough i'd go through them again just for the hell of it.
One little detail I remember so well about Dream team, despite having not played it in years is that for every giant battle, you see Luigi clutching at his hat in fear, but then right before the giant Bowser fight, he pulls his hat down with a confident look on his face
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team is my favorite game in the series. I know it's an unpopular opinion, and that's fine and I'm very happy with that. But I will love this game for many reasons. Also, the soundtrack is my #1 favorite soundtrack in any video game EVER!
I love this game too, my second favorite overall. (my favorite is Partners In Time.) We forgotten and abused corners of the fandom need to band together. I'm not going to inspire a fandom revolution, as I am part of the Paper Mario problem already, so I hope we can all acknowledge each other more now, since this is a more evenly split fandom (none of the games are unfairly hated by all, Paper Jam isn't the worst the series has to offer).
@@magicowlofbacon9416 what I appreciate more about the Mario & Luigi RPG fandom is that we don't have a toxic split like the paper mario fandom and we aren't super annoying like other fandoms, but rather we respect each other's opinions and are like, "You like partner in time? That's cool, I like Bowser's Inside Story more" and we all just are cool with being friends. And we can also all agree that the remake of Bowser's Inside Story are far inferior to the DS version
7:00 Remember, Partners in time changed the timeline. In Bowser's inside story during the Shroob Secret boss Fight, Luigi tells Starlow that they had already beaten the Shroobs when They were babies. (Keep in mind, he didn't say their past selves) Also the baby bros gave their hammers to the adult bros at the end of the game, and at the beginning of Inside story they didn't have their hammers. Instead they found new ones in bowsers body (Partners in time basically set up the next game's search for the hammer).
I honestly dont agree with some of the points ant brought up... I enjoyed the pacing as I couldnt afford many games at the time and having a longer game was a relief to be sure As far as I can say... be prepared for a longer game
Pacing in games is already a hard thing to pinpoint when going over them, so I didn't understand what Ant meant by poor pacing. Fetch quests I guess can be a problem, but quite frankly I didn't find that a problem, especially since finding x thing to unlock y gate to fight z boss is a thing in the Mario & Luigi games already.
@@dubemudeze8156 Although this is my favorite game in the series, I feel like the pacing issues stem from sometimes being forced to do tasks that could arguably be passed off as side quests before being able to clear the area. It didn't bother me too much, but I can understand why it might sour the experience for some players. Also, the final dungeon is LONG. Not a problem for me, but I've heard complaints about the length.
4:20 Dude!!! I’m i’m not the only one that does this! I would do this with every game man. I would time my jumps to the songs and add to them with the jump sound effect.
Both fights with Antasma are different. The only similarity the tutorial and final version have is they both have one move where Antasma turns into a bunch of bats. Aside from that, the final Antasma battle has way more moves. So saying they’re extremely similar is being ignorant.
My take on dream team is that as a Mario and Luigi game, Dream Team is a pretty good game but compared to the other games has a lot of noticeable short comings. However, if you look at Dream Team as a stand alone game, it’s a fantastic RPG that captures the charm of Mario and Luigi’s world perfectly. TLDR Dream Team is a 7/10 Mario and Luigi game And a 9/10 Mario RPG
I legit feel like this game’s story was supposed to go another way, but was reworked later into development to have Bowser be the main villain. Like this game came out at around the time the Mario spinoffs started having their original characters gutted because of mandates from higher ups, so it would explain why the game starts off giving all this lore and buildup to Antasma and the kingdom, only to end with a boring ‘save the princess from bowser’ story
Wouldn't surprise me. This is basically the Mario franchise doing what the Zelda franchise does (Ganadorf must *ALWAYS* be the final boss in some way, shape or form no matter how much it may make sense).
Dude, frick the Zeekeeper in hard mode. It was the only thing that got in my ways because of the crappy gyro controls locking up. Giant Bowser in hard mode however went down first try XD
@@blunderbus2695 I try to increase Mario's BP, Power, and Speed as much as I can. With Luigi, I am increasing his HP, Defense, and Stache as much as possible. Mario has very low defence, so that's why I give him Guard Shell DX So he can live six hits without dying right away. That actually helped out a lot for the bosses.
@@Jakewebmaster8 Honestly, Guard Shells should go on both bros and stay there all the way up until you can get the Duplex Crown for Mario. They're that good.
This is personally my favorite game in the series, and I have beat them all (with eh exception to Partners in Time, but I will fix that eventually) I can completely understand the criticisms about the game. Why it is too lengthy, why it is so slow, the tutorials, underutilized story aspects, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that I feel this game is in the top 3. The music is absolutely phenomenal, the gameplay is stellar, the locations are simple yet beautiful and unique. And the art direction is what I consider to be the best in the series. The sprites might not be AS expressive as the older games, but they are expressive. Just not to the same extent. The sprites are so smooth and fluid, and have so much detail, I mistook them for 3d models. The game is colorful, whimsical, and absolutely gorgeous, and is a style I hope to perfect in the future. Point is I know the game is not perfect. Not even close. And I cam admit that BIS is the better game. But Dream Team will always be my favorite, in spite of it's flaws. And yes, that goes for Antasma too, my favorite villain in the mario series. I sincerely hope to see more of him.
Well I unfortunately didn’t know they were “twin” brothers until I read about it in Mario and Sonic at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. I know they look a like but my dumb brain didn’t figure that out. When they say Mario is the older brother I thought they meant by a few years, not a few hours/minutes.
wow this game was my literal childhood. I remember getting the bundle with this game and a 3ds for my birthday and I was hooked on to this game ever since. One of the best games I've ever played.
@@fennemon I haven't but as a kid I watched a bunch of speedruns and playthroughs of that game so I might as well have played it lol. Yeah I admit that bowsers inside story had a way better plot and interesting idea but Dream team will always have a place in my heart for being the first mario rpg I've ever played.
Starlow does actually reference bis but only at the very start where she meets up with m+l again. But that's it lol. Can't agree with the dreams I think while sometimes they could've been a bit more interesting, they still were really cool :D
Dude i remember when this game came out lil 8 year old me was obsessed with this game, still git that memory of getting caught at 6am from playing all night in the desert area, i even remember i was in a fight with 2 of the weird long dudes.... good times... gooood times
did you know? antasma in italian is called incubat, which is a play on words with "Incubo" (nightmare) and "bat" (pretty obvious) also, in spanish the name sucks. its "conde pesadillo" (cound nightmerish would be the closest translation)
Why are there so many items in the mario universe that can just casually grant wishes? Like, I'm sure there's just a spoon siting around that can grant your deepest desires.
I played this game on launch day and despise all the tutorials (I know Dream Team has it's problems) I still love this game so much. I honestly like it more than BIS even though I love that game too. It was the very first Mario RPG I played start to finish and I enjoyed it a whole lot. I played through Dream Team 3 times (Including Hard Mode) and my favorite part is right before the giant Bowser fight, Luigi shakes Mario's hand and Luigi pulls his cap over his face with confidence, instead of being afraid like the previous fights
Somnom woods theme is the best woods theme I've ever heard in any video game ever, oh and also, the Dreamy Somnom woods theme sounds like what an acid trip in the woods would be like
This was my first 3ds game; it came with the Year of Luigi 3ds I was able to get from a pawn shop. It was the first game system I was able to buy with the money I earned doing odd jobs. This game was also the fist jrpg I ever played and opened the door for many more. Thank you, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, for all the wonderful memories.
Does anybody remember that one pink bird that says “I have excitement!”. Gave me hope that our boy Fawful had survived in some way, like he transfered to a new body.
It was mentioned in the video that the Dream World is Luigi's dreams? That ain't right. It's the parallel 'dream' realms of where you are. Luigi sleeping is what allows Mario to get there.
Very surprised with your coverage of this one, the last 3 videos felt like a very holistic review; this one feels like it had a lot of stuff missing. The complete overhaul of the gear system, the reversion to special attacks being bro specific, the change in the level up and rank up systems, there’s a lot that feels just straight up ignored. Not necessarily a bad video, but I feel like I expected more after those last 3 were near perfect reviews.
Already my favorite game because Luigi is a total badass here and has a very satisfying character development. The pacing is a non-issue for me tbh and Dreambert isn't that annoying.
I feel like the dream worlds were related to the areas because of the pillo people... I mean there are inhabitants of those lands, it would make sense why Luigi dreams would be influenced by them. And about ghost being in his dream, wouldn’t that be a nightmare for him? He befriended ghosts but not all ghosts, he’s still scared of them. Respect your opinion but I feel this is one of the best Mario and Luigi titles. This is the most fun I had on 3DS.
The first Mario and Luigi game I played was Partners in Time and I quite enjoyed it and it was probably one of the main reasons I love horror and creepy things. I never knew Inside Story was a thing so I skipped over it and played Dream Team next and it’s still my favorite in the series mostly because I loved the giant battles and the block guys. Yes the game has some flaws but it was still really enjoyable for me.
oh my gosh I always loved jumping to the music! For some reason as a child I couldn’t figure out how to progress because I never listened to the NPC’s I kept getting stuck Several times
Me: Starts playing hard mode, which can only be unlocked by finishing the game once. Game: Forces me through the same tutorials like it's my first time playing. Me: bruh

One of my favorite things about this game is that Bowser kinda develops as a competent villian after M&L BIS and that can be seen in this game such as
-Bowser using some of his moves from BIS like his air punch, rolling spike shell, going giant and eventually the vacuum shroom.

It's like your going up against the badass that Bowser grew into at the end of the previous game.
That's what I noticed, this time Luigi was a little more respected than being shown as a 'comic relief', to the point that the other characters didn't pay any attention to him,
OniLuigi's fight against Bowser shows a change, the real-world Luigi smiles when his dream version goes to fight against Bowser.
Exactly. He was so power hungry in this game specifically!
As a kid I thought Bowser swallowing the dream stone's shards was the most big brain thing ever lmao

Mhm... And the cool continuity with his inhale ability.
I think the reason the Tutorial Battle was actually dealt with so quickly in terms of lore is because Luigi would think Mario can deal with any big, scary monster just like that.
I’m disappointed that he didn’t mention how well this game utilized the 3D effect. It’s probably one of the best utilizations of it on the system.
Especially in the Antasma fights when he uses the bat moves. When I had a 2DS I was so confused how to dodge. Then when I got a N3DSXL it made sooo much sense
He did mention it near the start but not much.

Looks pretty, hurts after a while
With the way he disrespected and outright lied about Antasma you shouldn't have been suprised.
It is worth mentioning that the only reason why Antasma is beaten in like 5 seconds is because of it being Luigi’s dream, and through this way he sees Mario as the really strong hero brother, it’s actually kind of cute the way Luigi looks up to his bro so much.
Huh, that’s actually really endearing. Never thought off it that way
One of the things I love about this game is how it brought together alot of citizens of the M and L universe.
So true I love this game
Missed opportunity for Popple to interact with Bowser since he made him his rookie M&L SS, it would have been both hilarious and a neat little callback.
I forgot about all those NPCs from the previous entries that returned in Dream Team. I knew certain characters like you mentioned came back, but not of the random species. That fact makes me even sadder that Paper Jam just took the Sticker Star route and filled the entire world with Toads.
Something that i have noticed, the majority of the friendly characters from Mario and Luigi perspective of Bowser's inside story are Toads in majority, while in Dream team Bros, it's more varied, even Popple returned, so does Kylie Koopa who barely remember the brothers,
the friendly characters were more varied than the previous games.
Too bad alot of them are lacking due to the pacing issue.

Antasmas last fight is crazy. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure he has an absurd amount of attacks.
Antasma (tutorial) only lasts 2 turns, and attacks only once with the bat attack.
And from a stroy perspective, it makes sense to fight him first.

Dream Team was truly the peak of AlphaDream. So much effort and story put into the palm of your hand and basically saving the 3DS's name by its release.

@Dingo Insurance Yeah, the boss fight at the top of the mountains is where the bosses started getting really good imo.
I'll be honest, a lot of these issues just... didn't bother me. Honestly, the length didn't bother me much at all. Although the tutorials overdid it, I usually didn't think that the areas dragged TOO much, but there was definitely padding.

I love this game too, my second favorite overall. (my favorite is Partners In Time.) We forgotten and abused corners of the fandom need to band together. @@magicowlofbacon9416 what I appreciate more about the Mario & Luigi RPG fandom is that we don't have a toxic split like the paper mario fandom and we aren't super annoying like other fandoms, but rather we respect each other's opinions and are like, "You like partner in time? As far as I can say... be prepared for a longer game
You thought this was long?
Pacing in games is already a hard thing to pinpoint when going over them, so I didn't understand what Ant meant by poor pacing. Fetch quests I guess can be a problem, but quite frankly I didn't find that a problem, especially since finding x thing to unlock y gate to fight z boss is a thing in the Mario & Luigi games already.
@@dubemudeze8156 Although this is my favorite game in the series, I feel like the pacing issues stem from sometimes being forced to do tasks that could arguably be passed off as side quests before being able to clear the area. Also, the final dungeon is LONG. Not a problem for me, but I've heard complaints about the length.

TLDR
Dream Team is a 7/10 Mario and Luigi game
And a 9/10 Mario RPG
BIS has short comings as well
I legit feel like this game’s story was supposed to go another way, but was reworked later into development to have Bowser be the main villain.
Wouldn't be surprised if they had a rule where Bowser (or some form of Bowser) had to be the final boss in every Mario & Luigi game

This is personally my favorite game in the series, and I have beat them all (with eh exception to Partners in Time, but I will fix that eventually)
I can completely understand the criticisms about the game.
I sincerely hope to see more of him.

antasma in italian is called incubat, which is a play on words with "Incubo" (nightmare) and "bat" (pretty obvious)
also, in spanish the name sucks. its "conde pesadillo" (cound nightmerish would be the closest translation)
22:09 people with basic knowledge of economics: yeah that's gonna be an issue
Inflation?
@@ronantheronin3521 yes. It’s basically making money worthless because it is infinite
That’s why dreambert was freaking out
Why are there so many items in the mario universe that can just casually grant wishes? Like, I'm sure there's just a spoon siting around that can grant your deepest desires.
Now we just need a review on Wall Clipping: The Game.
Huge missed opportunity for this game to include subcon and have Wart as a boss from SMB2.
Yeah.
Somnom woods theme is the best woods theme I've ever heard in any video game ever, oh and also, the Dreamy Somnom woods theme sounds like what an acid trip in the woods would be like
in this game you get to touch every part of Luigi's body including his... oh no.
What were you trying to say?
This game was really nostalgic for me, because I really enjoyed playing this game
This game is my second favorite in the series, really close to my favorite: Bowsers Inside Story.
im happy that you made a video on my favorite mario and luigi game ever.
The year of Luigi was a great time
This was my first 3ds game; it came with the Year of Luigi 3ds I was able to get from a pawn shop. It was the first game system I was able to buy with the money I earned doing odd jobs. This game was also the fist jrpg I ever played and opened the door for many more. Thank you, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, for all the wonderful memories.
"Be prepared to have your *hand held* with tutorials the entire time."
I hate you.
And I thought Pokemon: Sun & Moon was bad with that. But this looks worst.
Does anybody remember that one pink bird that says “I have excitement!”. Gave me hope that our boy Fawful had survived in some way, like he transfered to a new body.
Glad to hear the tutorials get mentioned in this video, as they're the sole reason I ended up not finishing the game
I have a confession to make.
I liked this game more than Bowser's Inside Story (they're both amazing games though)
I think M&L burnout is speaking in this review more than the actual quality of the game.
The Mario brothers will have a language that normal mortals will never be able to speak
oh my gosh I always loved jumping to the music!
For some reason as a child I couldn’t figure out how to progress because I never listened to the NPC’s
I kept getting stuck
Several times
Me: Starts playing hard mode, which can only be unlocked by finishing the game once.
Game: Forces me through the same tutorials like it's my first time playing.
Me: bruh
I love this game and it was my favorite 3ds game and you can't change my mind that it has no problems
