    *Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*

    I watched this, and that's what was wrong -w- mine. The coil lost it's correct gap. Thanks man you saved me a lot of time, and money. Pays to look at TH-cam before buying unneeded parts.

    This saw was handed down to me from my father and I absolutely hate it. It never starts and I ended up getting a pruning blade for my sawzall.

    Saw arrived yesterday th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and today I cut about 3/4 cord of wood with it. Make sure you get an extension chord that is at least 12 gauge wire, minimum. This is my first electric in about 10 years, and things sure have improved. The self-sharpener works great, and it just kept cutting through some pretty decent logs. Wear your eye protection, and ear protection. Excellent saw.

    I love them old Homelite's. I have a Super XL12, and a regular XL12, that I use every year to cut my Dad's Winter wood. He owns a big Stihl, and he is really shocked how well my Homelite's stand up to his Stihl. Only problem in comparison is the old Homelite's are a lot heavier. I guess that's why their still running and still reliable 50 years later. I have 2 Super EZ's, that I'm getting ready to rebuild the carbs on, to use as a lighter limb cutting saw.

    Has to be missing the fuel filter for crap that big to make it in the carb. 😲

  • @MissouriOldTimer
    @MissouriOldTimer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    that's really curious why that coil got closer to the flywheel, if anything I would think it would get further away,,, I really like those old EZ Homelites, I had a couple of then and a lot of XL's.

    • @rw3dog
      @rw3dog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah my father bought the saw new. He loves it. It runs great and gets very little use. It has a manual oiler too. The muffler is a little gone but other than that it is solid.....

  • @billmckim6589
    @billmckim6589 หลายเดือนก่อน

    my MS 250 won’t start up after I left it sitting in barn during winter! I emptied the fuel tank and let the carburetor dry out. Is this related to your issue? If so what’s part number you replaced?

    • @rw3dog
      @rw3dog  หลายเดือนก่อน

      See if you have spark as step one

  • @larryreno8293
    @larryreno8293 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the coil has been touching or has gotten closer to the flywheel your crank bearings may be bad or the engine mountings could be loose. If the engine is moving in the plastic case you case is worn.

    • @denisdenis2034
      @denisdenis2034 ปีที่แล้ว

      on this model the coil is bolted on crankcase so the engine mount can't be responsable:)

    • @larryreno8293
      @larryreno8293 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@denisdenis2034 I would urge you to look at a video I posted, but I would understand if you didn’t so I’ll quickly explain. The clamshell type motor is bolted to the plastic case assembly. In the case are 4 metal bushings that the engine bolts pass through, holding the engine. The coil also bolts to the case, when the saw gets worked beyond its limits the case will wear at the point where bushing pass through the plastic. The engine, now lose and sloppy, will contact the coil.

  • @danielpadgett2831

    If it was full of saw dust and junk and never cleaned out of course it's going to affect the coil and fly wheel gap and dust in the carb. Just saying but regular cleaning after each use on the recoil side and the bar and chain side will prevent this in the future

    Fuel tank filter is probably loose and in the bottom of the tank or the tank hose has a hole in it. That’s a lot of junk in the carb.
