Sophie diMartino was recovering from pregnancy during filming of S1. The costume designer even sewed in nursing openings for her costume so she could nurse or pump between takes. Super cool attention to personal needs of a working actor.
So regarding the pruning thing, Loki was slipping through time and his temporal aura was scattered through the timestream. Pruning an object/person removes them completely through time. So when Loki pruned himself/got pruned, he was removed from time, and then the Temporal Aura extractor caught him and brought him back to the TVA. The other lokis were not involved hence would not be affected.
This first episode feels as strong as the first season. Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson have incredible chemistry, plus Ke Huy Kwan is just an absolute delight. To address a question you both had, I think pruning himself was meant to affect only our Loki variant, as in the time slipping was occurring because he was somehow tied to multiple different timelines. That’s how I interpreted it at least. Hope the show stays at this level!
I missed Marvel being this good. This episode was really strong. Imo the best Loki ep so far and in general one of the best eps across all shows. I hope it keeps going like this.
@@YourDadYodaThe beautiful thing about Secret Wars. Its like a blank piece of paper you can start a new universe after it. Erase everything that came before.
Slyvie's actress, Sophia Di Martino, lost some weight in between seasons, since in the first season, she just gave birth and was still breastfeeding (her suit was even designed so that she could feed easily), and then another pregnancy between Season 1 and 2, so she rebounded like Jen did lol
16:55 People forget that both Loki and Sylvie have been pruned before. It doesn't prune ALL other variants. It just prunes that particular version of himself from existence in every timeline. It prunes that one single Loki from the past, present and future.
Mobius wasn't trying to fix the Temporal Loom. OB said he was going to fix the Loom after he closed the blast doors. Mobius was using the gadget to tether to Loki's temporal aura so that they could bring him back to that particular present timeline. Mobius was acting as a tether to Loki so when Loki pruned himself from all timelines, Mobius still had a line attached to him that could pull him back into the present.
Yep there's basically only a single TVA that overseer's the whole Marvel Multiverse, Guess you can excuse any differences to the TVA from the comics or you could see that as a past version of the TVA as we now know from the episode that the TVA does indeed have a past and future. So in theory the TVA could've been reset a bunch of times, One TVA that overseers the whole Marvel Multiverse.
I agree with you both that the MCU has been not as connected as before! I really hope Loki brings it all back together and more Kang variants are teased. The villian is so amazing because it has so many options. Hopefully they'll use him loads.
Loki was not trying to prune a timeline or anything like that, he was trying to prune himself. The only way that he could be cured of time slipping was if he pruned himself at the same time that the Aura extractor was activated to suck him back into the present. Nothing was pruned except for Loki himself.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was like 'is this the same actress?' when she came on. I guess it was just the time that passed and made me forget how she looked from season 1.
Getting this video the day episode 2 comes out is a lowkey... he he he... great idea. Im using this as a reminder what happened in ep1 before ep2 today.
I think that they are probably going to reboot the entire MCU in Secret Wars. If they do they will probably start the MCU chronology with Fantastic Four and X-Men, etc.
Was I dreaming when I recall Jen being Soo confused at the end of Loki season 1 and wondering what all the hype was all about. Now she's like Loki was fun and she enjoyed it and so on and so fo...
I think the pruning just removes a variant from the timeline. So he needed to be pruned at that moment so that the extractor could grab onto him as he gets removed. Because as it was he was on various parts of the same timeline at the same time (timeslipping) so pruning himself would bring him together.
It seems like they used the old X-Men Cerebro movie set. Feels like it sat there unused for years and years, until this show's set director showed up, saw that aged metal door, and said, 'It's perfect!'
When time sliping loki got pruned he got out of the time line, and in that moment the tech that O.B build caught Loki and brought him to his present. Loki needs to get pruned(violently ripping himself from timeline) in order to get caught by that machine because loki is slipping in time and so he needs to get out of timeline and snached back into present timeline. Simple 👍
the way i understand it, killing he who remains unleashed all the kangs. and one of those kangs remained last again and built the tva. we are in that era now.
In the comic books after Asgard was destroyed and Ragnarok happened, Thor rebuilt Asgard in Broxton Oklahoma. So it will be interesting to see if any if that shows up
I think this is a great placement for season 2 after all the lackluster marvel projects hopefully they can come out with something really great this time and if not this will probably be the nail in the coffin for a lot of people
This show, and this episode in particular, is really funny. I know the humor is an important part of the MCU but I have never laughed out loud more watching the MCU than in this episode.
HELLUVA 1st episode! Love that it picked up right where it left off. OB fits right in with the show and his banter with Loki & Mobius is great. Still not sure who pruned Loki but glad someone did it. Hope we get a bit of Sylvie in Ep2 tonight.
I think the only reason she looks "different" is because in the elevator scene, it looks like she has very pronounced bangs because its in the "future" TVA, where as the mid credit scene her hair is like it was after she killed he who remains.
Loki season 2 is must watch taking the fact that season 1 was very good and season 2 is off to a great start( also the reviews are also good from the people who have seen the first 4 eps) Mainly Loki was the first show that tackled the Multiverse, going to Kang Dynasty it's so important watch Loki along side Deadpool 3 since it's rumored to feature the tva and all the other multiverse characters.
one thing that really sucks about staying with a reaction channel that you really love is that after long enough, you've already reacted to all the stuff i want to see. so i have to wait for new stuff like this to come out in order to enjoy the content again. i love you guys so much but some of the reactions are movies and shows i'm just not into or haven't seen.
I really enjoyed this episode because of the additional lore we got about the TVA. He Who Remains for example. I'm sure we'll see Revonna Renslayer again later in the season because I'd like to know more about the multiversal war and what else He Who Remains did besides the stuff we already know about.
Also, just in case it wasn't clear, the Kang variant that was in Ant Man 3 was not the variant that we met in Loki season 1. They are two completely different variants. The TVA seems to be on its own timeline separate from the 616 timeline so I'm not sure where you place this in a chronological watch order, but season 2 picks up right where season 1 left off with no Gap in between
It's the same actress, but the character at the end is the one who kills Kang, and the one in the elevator will be the one from the future, that's why she changes her hairstyle and clothes.
She had already had her first child prior to filming, however she was still actively breastfeeding. In fact Christine Wada, the costume designer, built in hidden zippers in the chest area to accomodate Sophia's pumping and breastfeeding her baby between takes.
I can recommend the second season of Wheel of Time by the way, it was a significant step up in quality over season one, they've really found their feet, the finale had me crying like a baby, though I'm a huge WoT fan, so I'm biased as all heck :D
Yeah they cranked the second one out surprisingly quickly, there are changes to the overall storyline from the books of course, but I feel like the changes in season 2 elevate the story instead of diminishing it, Mat in particular has an incredible arc this season. @@AdamPFarnsworth
Hello guys. He was also in Goonies and Thanos was in that movie also😆. In Deadpool 2, when Deadpool is fighting Cable on the train he makes a reference to the Goonies. You should react to the Goonies, if you haven’t already.
The woman that was in game of thrones was also in a movie called the witch. It's like a folklore horror movie filmed in Canada. Not sure if it's Channel worthy but spare time you should watch it.
A little explanation. The TVA was always set outside of time and never had a past or future because of the sacred timeline loop he who remains created. Now that that king is dead and all of time is branched the TVA now has a timeline, and that is what Loki is jumping back and forth through. That's how he knew to prune the fake mural over the real one and that's why Casey and Mobius didn't know him at the beginning.
"she does look a little different" That's because she had a baby just around the start of filming of the first season and yeah she probably had the left over baby bump.
12:57 She looks a little different (and as Jen says, she looks like she lost weight) because during filming season 1, she had just given birth shortly before filming started. The filming on this was probably at least a year later.
I’ve watched episode 2 as well and so far it really lives up to the first season. It has been a very solid start. Marvel is also canning a lot of projects. They are aware of the reception of phase 4 so I think they’re downsizing and focusing on the main storyline.
*_I don't think that Loki pruning himself had anything to do with fixing the loom: I think OB fixed the loom by himself but had he done it without Loki pruning himself first, Loki, because of his time slipping condition, would have been lost in time forever. So their window of opportunity to save Loki was shortened by the fact that OB needed to keep the loom from overloading, which it was in the process of doing from having too many timelines to ring together into the sacred timeline. So Loki Pruning himself only affected him, not any timelines: It just removed himself from time so that the Aura extractor could find him beyond time and bring him back to the TVA... Then again, they didn't spend all that much time explaining all the details, so it is possible that in the next episode, they will further explain it._*
Sylvie’s actress was pregnant during filming for Loki season 1. So she probably does look like she lost some weight. But still the same actress. Also the shot of her in the future she has her hair a bit different than present time Sylvie.

You definitely need to have Jen watch season 1 again before going on to episode 2. The fact that she doesn't seem to know anything about what's happening in the show is horrible to watch. Catch her up first since she obviously forgot everything.

Their trying to bring the X-men and the Fantastic Four along with the Netflix shows into the MCU. In order not to actually reboot everything they’re setting up a couple of possibilities for why these other characters were absent from the first three phases or Infinity Story. Part of this is based on two of the X-men movies,X2 and X-men days of future past along with the altered version of the X-men series comics in the 90’s. The other will be the multiverse and multi time line from Loki and the previous phases along with the 2099 line from the comics and a couple of other comics series. Chances are they will retcon what happened in the first phases. But I don’t think they will do it was all just a dream. It’s probably that the Kang’s are fighting for control along with them trying to suppress some of the other characters that they found that could oppose them. Kang’s deal is usually him fighting with his variants but I think it’s goes further in this case and he’s trying to keep other characters from his reality and he created the previous version that was why we didn’t have all the characters in the MCU. But we know that it was just that the studio couldn’t use those characters now that they can they will probably be doing a combination of retconing and rebooting.
Just like Jen rewatched Star Wars to get a better grasp of the movies and the events that happened chronologically, I think it might be a good idea to get Jen to rewatch the MCU. Either for content or on your own time, which ever, just so that she can get a refresher on everything that has happened especially with the perspective she has now being up to date with everything.
