My kind of fix and fasteners get zinc plated with a kit at home. Or if in a hurry rubbed down and zinc spray out of a can. It is amazing what you can find on these clean ups. Good video.
Have you seen the Hammerite Smooth Satin Black? That matches up pretty good with black powder coated parts. I used it on an Old Discovery as they had Black Metal bumpers. I am with you on using the brush, far easier that masking stuff up to spray. I have raided by daughters art stuff though when in need of a nice wee brush. Smaller brush means less thinners so cheaper to clean too.
Aye Sean tbh I just used what was lying in the shed lol. It's looking tidy right enough the touch ups are a bit shiny but that with wear soon enough lol 👍
Here in New Zealand we don't use salt on our roads now, What we use is Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA) which does not injure the environment or rust our vehicles
WOOO taking a grinder to ya bike lol ... I thought you were doing major surgery at first . I used similar products on my bikes in the past , do they still do Jenolite ? i used that on something on one of my bikes but remember kicking the bottle over on the concrete garage floor (left the top off) i had a lovely clean spot , it fizzed and bubbled like alien blood 😵i wore gloves the next time i used it 👍Great info Martin take care and watch out for the thunder snow coming your way 🥶
Aye a did it yesterday Robert. Between coats I had the back wheel off regreased the axle and cleaned the chain and front sprocket. Today I had the front end of the bike off wheel forks etc and took the head bearings out cleaned and greased them again. Im doing a bunch of different videos on general maintenance. Tomorrow the tank will come off and I will be installing a switched relay system. New usb hub and heated grips 👍
I believe that Kurust is basically just phosphoric acid, like all the others, jenolite etc.. Next time you are in need, go to Machine Mart and buy their own brand rust converter, it's about a third [or less] than the price of the big names and is the same stuff.
Hi pal, useful video. I’ve got similar problems myself. Can you please tell me what type and grade of disk you had on the grinder? Don’t want to go through the frame! Cheers and all the best.
Hi Tom I used z fine grade sanding disk on the grinder tbh I'm not sure the grit because Iv got a pile of them lying around. You would probably get away with using a cutting disk almost flat to the frame a few seconds at a time but you'd need to be careful
Aye mate the technical term is "close the door" lol the garage usually in decent nick but it's full of garden furniture and bathroom suites at the minute ha. Still nearly there the bikes been stripped the last couple of days.
@@WeeJaunt You want to see my garage then. Along with 2 motorbikes, 2 fridge freezers and lots of furniture that my son can't fit in his house. You'll have noticed I've have changed my tag to midlife adventures More suitable to an old git. Iain
