We just purchase 3 bottles of Chosen avocado oil from two different batches at Costco & we could not make mayonnaise with it. It was too liquidy. We bought another one from Chosen at Walmart & it was good. We contacted Chosen & they mentioned that it could be because it was not store properly. I just wonder if anyone else had that problem. I just hope that they are not part of that fake oil scam.

Actually according to the FDA peanut oil is not listed as an allergen. Because peanut oil is heavily processed the proteins in it that react with you are no longer recognizable or have been denatured. Meaning you will not have reaction to the oil. There are rare cases where people still react, perhaps there allergy is specific to a different protein from most in the peanut that does not get denatured in the process. This is ONLY the case for 100% refined peanut oils, not expeller pressed or cold pressed. I am also allergic to peanuts, but no I haven't tested this for myself.

I've been buying California Olive Ranch olive oil for a while now from the same store. The label used to always say they used olives grown in California. The most recent time I bought a bottle I noticed all the bottles say Argentina, Chile, Portugal & California. I see on the Cal Olive Ranch website they sell a 100% Cal olives version, and a 'Destination Series' version, which used olives from different countries. The destination series is listed as cheaper than the 100% Cal on the Cal Olive Ranch website. It looks like the store started selling the cheaper 'destination series' but i think they did not lower the price.

Thanks so much for this information Bobby. I appreciate all the research and knowledge you pass on to all of us. Something needs to be done to regulate this industry given they won't regulate themselves. It's so hard to find real food or quality food in grocery stores as it is, then to have to deal with corporations who only care about their bottom line and not the quality of the product they're selling is frustrating. Even agonizing given how many stores I have to go to during the coronavirus (I'm 67 years old) just to find those products. I recognize that over time things change in these industries, but a list of the good and the bad (and the ugly) would be a great resource to have on hand.
