    In this video, I'll show you How To Make Fonio. FONIO is an ancient grain mostly cultivated in parts of West Africa. I know for a fact that Plateau State in Nigeria is one of the biggest producers of this Fonio. It's a great option for Alkaline Vegans and Regular Vegans alike. Africans have long known the benefits of eating Fonio. It's rich in B vitamins (Including Thiamine), it's gluten free, and it's a good source of protein.
    Fonio (A.K.A Acha) has a gritty texture, but it tastes way different from grits and it's great at absorbing flavors. It's super quick to cook and it easily doubles in size. You need about 5 times its amount in water to make a porridge out of it, and about half its amount in water to make make a grain bowl. If you haven't tried Fonio, you should definitively order some right now and give my recipe a try.
    Thanks for watching. Please let me know in the comments section if you've eaten this super food and also when (Year) and where (Country) you ate it. Also, please leave a like if you enjoyed the video or music. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel for more awesome videos. I make new videos every week. I'll see you all next week!

    I've used Fonio before but this looks so good. Beginning my alkaline diet next week after detoxing. I'm so excited to user your recipes for new lifestyle journey. You are so awesome for someone who hasn't gone through culinary school. You are truly gifted by God. I enjoying everything I'm watching. Do you plan to publish a cookbook? I certainly hope so. 🤗

      Hey Bonnie, this recipe is delicious 😋 It's one of my go-to breakfasts. Nope, no culinary school. The recipes just come to me. I also get some inspiration from those alkaline cooks who came before me. Much respect to all of them. Thanks a lot for your compliment. Yes, I'm working on an alkaline vegan cookbook. I'll definitely let you all know as soon as it's out.

      @@nishminique9503 Hi Nish. I had this detox book for the longest , finally decided to use it after having some adverse gastric reactions in my body. "Easy Weekend Detox" bought from Amazon. I found it to be a great way to know how to detox based on the questions you answer. Her book has all the detoxing for each organ in your body. I not only lost weight but felt so much better and I know this is something that needs to occur on a more frequent basis than once every 5 years or so. Lol It really keeps your body in check from diseases. Blessings!

That breakfast dish looks delicious - I will defintely be giving this one a GO ! Do you know if most of the fonio sold is milled (and therefore must be washed) what is the other way it is sold when it is not milled ? Thank you again fpr a great video !

    • @Grubanny
      @Grubanny  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, first of all, you're welcome 😊 Second, if you live in America, Canada, or in most of Europe, you'll be able to easily find milled Fonio, and that's truly a blessing. Trust me, you don't want to have to deal with washing unmilled Fonio and trying to get rid of the dirt/sand and chaff that come with it.
      If you live in Africa, you still would be able to find milled, packaged Fonio, but it's rare because most of it gets exported.

    This is now my favorite breakfast. I made it last week. So delicious 😋. And the video quality is on point. Where do you buy these baby bananas? Hard to find in regular grocery stores in the US. I had to bring some from the Caribbean for this recipe.

      Yeah, it's delicious 😋 You can find Baby Bananas at most local farmer's markets. They almost always have them available. Whole Foods sells them too.

      What’s the shelf life for cooked Fonio that is stored in the fridge? I realize that my cooked Fonio turns rancid overnight or usually after 24 to 48 hours of storage in the fridge. Not sure if it also ferments quickly. Is this very typical of Fonio? How can I maintain it’s freshness? I’m still trying to experiment with this awesome grain.

    • @Grubanny
      @Grubanny  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've stored it in the fridge for 3 days. It was plain i.e. without milk, nuts, or fruits. I keep my fridge really cold, so that may have helped keep it fresh. Also, note that I used white fonio. Black fonio may have a different shelf life. Store it in the freezer. Just add some water and reheat when needed. Should last up to a month.

    Tease you. Fonio is Gambian like or more than Senegal. Also you do not have to peel the mangoes, the mango skin tastes good and with nutrients... My bonus/gift: My stupidities yesterday: In this world of what, who, and where; between yesterday , today, and tomorrow-- my stupidities yesterday were just what it was, I thank God I was not of the liars and cruel ones, or at least not the big ones. Delays and seeming denials are sometimes blessings, because you are not above learning and patience , even prophets are taught and tested on patience. So when you are in love with a what, who, or where, feel free to seek, but avoid lying and cruelty with greater strength than you avoid stupidity. Use your conscience, The world is bigger than their religions, cultures, and governments-- they are part of it, but just means between choices , reward, and punishments that are far beyond humans. Look at the what (things) God/humans seemingly denied you, didn't He give you much more ? He certainly did with me, so just learn from me and keep on striving, but please avoid lying and cruelty to be successful or most successful. Memories can be heaven when free of ignorance, lying, and cruelty, especially the latter two.
    How about today? We all think we are acting as intelligently as possible, but may be, may be not. Again, do your best, but avoid lying and cruelty with utmost efforts.
    Remember the who (people) you sought or sought you, the delays and seeming denials were but blessings, or protection? All or most of them, you would not want to be with them today. Hope you did good with the ones you were with. Some you were protected from, you were weak and could have been manipulated. So even if you were partially guilty of stupidity, where you avoided lying and cruelty are easier to remember. So whether you have an ideal partner or not, you may still be more blessed than those who denied you. Look beyond the visible, and strive wisely for the visible you may lack through the route that is free of lying and cruelty, to the best of your ability. Strive with patience, and remember what, who, and where God has given you, not just seemingly deny you. Avoid forcing and begging in relationships, they can bring bad memories or even worse.
    Look at the where (places) you were delayed or denied, didn't God give you much more? Some enter places in low, mild to extreme stupidity; through varying levels of lying, or even cruelty; but is there a place worth lying to enter today? Not for me today. So life is way beyond intelligence and the visible. Learn that and teach it to your children. After entering, how did you live? Hope you avoided or avoiding lying and cruelty? Have and Tell your children to have faith, do good deeds, but apply super good deeds as per ch.103. God can immensely reward the visibly poor and can even enrich them visibly, but who will strive wisely and beyond intelligence? We were not alone, nor are we alone. So we will likely not be alone and wouldn't you want to be free from lying and cruelty to be joint with similar folks? The world is just about hundred years for you, if you are 'lucky'. So how hard should it be to avoid lying and cruelty for just hundred years...? Strive! while you can. God can give you so much happiness, it feels like you are Billionaire or trillionaire living countless years even on earth. So how can you doubt God can make and remake and reward us like or better than the best of Religions described? May we be forever triumphant.
