Just bought my wife an ST Elite escape. It sticks to the road and has insane pickup. We live in WV mountains on a dirt road. Can’t speak about the CX 5, but I own 3 vehicles, they’re all powered by an eco boost, and I’m a huge fan of Fords.
That Escape looks way different . I remember my dad had 04 Escape with the manual transmission 2.0L . That thing went over 225k miles but it’s gone due an accident. Really reliable and not much wrong beside a clutch replacement and oil changes.
This refresh looks better than the previous one. They gave it a better sportier look. Another great review. You had me dying laughing when you were talking about the back seat 😂😂
You can operate the climate controls on the touch screen without moving the slide controls. At the bottom of the screen you can touch the + or - to add temperature or heat to the seats for example.
That HUD is better because you won't need a special treated windshield for the display if it cracks and needs replacing. This way the windshield glass is common to all models.
I just bought my 2024 Ford Escape ST-Line Elite in June, and I love it! The car is definitely sporty in appearance and drive. It has a lot of torque since it's light, and the vehicle has many excellent features, including its sport mode, where the car gets its ST-Line badging along with the sports suspension. Such a fun car to drive: It's sporty and practical at the same time
Thanksgiving Dinner on a Wing registration closes Nov 15th. $49.95 gets you full access buffet and desert, fireside chat with Joe, pictures taken by Lorie, and complementary RR t-shirt. This year will be epic!!
@CraigNelson-zr7wj I'm not sure if you're disagreeing or agreeing but I've had vehicles with touchscreen climate control and vehicles with touchscreen everything and analog climate control. Touchscreen climate control was plain annoying. I would get it again depending the vahicle and additional options. Otherwise it's more of a deal breaker than maker for me.
@5thgearratchet Its just not an enthusiast deal breaker. We all know only a few cars have actual knobs anymore because infotainment systems have integrated them. Most new cars won't have them so it's not point in holding onto the past lol
Escape has a 3500 LB tow rating with the 2.0 versus the cx-5 at 2000 LBS. So if you have a side by side or a couple of ATV's on a trailer you potentially could be legally over the tow limit of the cx-5 but would have room to spare with the escape. This was the same problem with the Bronco Sport that maxed at 2200 lbs.
The Escapes awd torque is its best feature. Escapes are hella fast and can push. That awd system plants you down. 285 lb ft is more than enough to smoke other suvs
What i don’t understand is why other car makers arent adding the blind spot turn camera in the dash like how hyundai and kia does. It is so damn useful, i own a hyundai Santa Fe and it’s great for safety. Most of these modern cars have the cameras there already but just for when you are reversing. I just don’t get it
$43,000 for a Ford with no heated seats or panoramic sunroof? All that for a non-reliable Ford it’s amazing to watch the comments here because everyone would take a Mazda over a Ford any day.! Fixed Or Repaired Daily
No one seems to like this car, but I looked at a Lexus 350H- no spare tire- Unacceptable I looked at the Genesis GV70- infotainment screen is not within arms reach and Car Play not wireless- Unacceptable Ford just gave me 3k off sticker and zero percent financing (April 2023) IMHO- sold!
I'll definitely be getting the ST Line top trim when theirs some pre-owned ready. NEVER a Blazda! I don't buy new, lose too much on the drive off. My loaded Fusion Titanium is treating me well so I'm not ready yet, but I want one before they supposedly discontinue the Escape in 2025 for this EV crap.
You can get the Escape ST Select for about $35,000 after rebates. Not sure if you can get the 2.0 engine with that trim level. But you can get the hybrid with almost 200hp and much better fuel mileage.
You blind neckbeards love to compare apples to oranges. Top of the line trim in both models run the same. You guys can't come here crying about $43,000 for the ST Line Elite but be cool with $43,000 on the turbo signature. Especially when the CX-5 is slower and smaller inside.
I am considering this trim vs my Edge. It just has more tech and is more fun to drive. Only issues are the lack of ventilated seats. With current deals and financing this is more like $36k with 0% financing.
A 2023 Mazda CX-5 fully loaded with a Turbo charger and AWD is slightly cheaper at about $39k and the interior on the CX-5 is a lot nicer with soft touch interior pretty much everywhere and overall quality is something that Mazda wins at. I would go with the CX-5.
Ron, I see that you always complain about the placement of rear wiper being at the bottom of rear glass. In a perfect world I agree that aesthetic wise it being hidden in the top roof spoiler is nice, BUT for the fact that the visibility out the rear from the driver seat would be far less area being cleared. Especially if the rear has snow or ice on it. Having on the bottom gives a nice clean 180 degree swipe along the bottom edge for much better visibility. Imho.
9:55 Why am I reminded of that Rodney Dangerfield scene in "Caddy Shack"? "Fore!" (Ow!!! Ohhh!) "I shoulda yelled 'two'!" As for the Ninja Turtles, I remember Vanilla Ice was involved in that Ninja Turtles movie in 1991. I confess I was never into them. I considered myself too old.
Scotty Kilmer and other mechanics on TH-cam have me very concerned about turbos. I think I'd prefer a naturally-aspirated Four or V6. But let's see what else this Ford has.

This is a good looking "Ride," nice job Joe! Like the carbon fiber bits and the screen but I'll go for CX-5, hey I got the CX-5, so a bit partial.
I totally understand what you are saying!
I like it, nice option for daily driving but I think I would go for the CX-5.
I think that is where I would spend my money
Drive the Ford,Mazda 😂

How did I KNOW Joe was a History teacher?! I love it! My Dad was too. Love your channel, Joe!
i love joe, one of the best out there, we appreciate your videos thank you
Thank you so much for saying that and having my back!
The CX-5 is still a better crossover, but the Escape should be fine for those who like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.
The CX 5 and the Escape, are almost the exact same size. I would choose the Ford
Looks good. I'm going with Mazda though.
I like the way you think
The new face certainly suites the overall style better. The rear sure would look cleaner with a hidden rear wiper.
This escape looks so freakin good. Its the best looking vehicle on the market right now and I am going to buy one.
I am so glad that you like this one.
@@RaitisRides when will you come review MY SWAMP???
I’ll step the Mazda up a notch and vote for CX-70 when it hits.

CX-5 Turbo 256HP and 39k made in japan
CX5 is a more focused vehicle and plays in a league beyond Escape.

I like the way you think Brian
Ford owned Mazda. Who do you think made you like the Cx-5? Lol
I'll take the hybrid escape.
No one asked 👍
Bull
Agree that the CX5 without the touchscreen is not a limitation.
Its actually an advantage...I can change songs, make calls switch to google map while driving with my cx5.
You can enable the touchscreens screen in the settings. So it's restricted by software.
I just bought a '16 Focus just about a month ago and it's a lot better than my cavalier was. B.T.W good content as always joe.
Thanks David!
@@RaitisRides I didn't get my focus at Walker Ford. But I got a good deal on it. Had about 44k miles. So far runs like a champ.

That is great but it should be here at this price.
Thank God someone spoke about the need for a good-looking steering wheel.

Ford pricing lately for what you get is ridiculous. Mazda CX5 all the way. Better by every measure.

CX-5 with the easy win. The Escape Leakoboost has a nicer screen that's it.
