    Obviously, the fake front bumper vents are designed to store beef jerky or licorice sticks. I mostly like the new Escape, but the Bronco Sport Heritage tugs at my heart strings. For the money the Escape is a better choice since my off-road adventures consist of missing my driveway.

      Why do you think that? My friend has a 2022 Honda CR-V and we were comparing my 2020 Ford Escape S/AWD to his, and save for the larger dimensions of the CR-V's interior, we couldn't really come up with too many glaring differences.

      @@sidehide1 you do realize the Mitsubishi is just a Nissan Rogue rebadge? The Escape is a good little vehicle and I have three and a half years of seat time in my 2020 to back that statement up.

    Interesting. I have a 2020 Escape S/AWD, which is what the Active is now. I have the 6", non-touchscreen, Sync display. They started making the 8" standard across all trim levels for 2021 model year. This is basically what an Escape SE would've been for my year. I have steel wheels with mine, but these wheels on the '23 are what you got for the SE. Also, my Escape is the same color as this. If you put it into Sport mode, it moves a bit quicker. I've driven mine everywhere, and it's been great. I, too, have the 1.5L inline-3.

  • @ElijahRock92
    @ElijahRock92 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    2020 Escape SE AWD owner. Got mine on discounts in 2021 at around $22k. 😜 It's a CUV that has just what you need. I've put 76,000 miles on that 1.5L 3-cyl engine. It actually does great, especially on road trips and when I need to drive around the work site.
    But at $31k in '23, that's a bit overpriced. If you're gonna pay that much, I'd skip the Active trim and move up to the ST-Line to get the AWD hybrid. If you're spendingba pretty penny, either get the fuel savings or get something actually pretty. At least it looks like it is in the Ford CUV family unlike my big boned Focus looking '20 model year. lol

    Great review! I had 2020 Ford escape hybrid. I can say that NVH, suspension, ride quality, and exterior paint quality are better than CRV and RAV4. However the interior was seriously worse. For example, the arm rests on each door are so narrow. Even could not rest my arms. 9:19 Look at where Joe put his arm because the arm rest is useless.

    • @302Mustang13
      @302Mustang13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 2020 Titanium 2.0 turbo and agree. Even with the 19" Wheels/tires it still rides much better than the CX-5 and handles almost as good. The engine is a 9/10 compared to the CR-V at 6/10 for NHV. It's actually better than the 2.0 turbo in my mom's NV300 that I'd rate at 7.5/10. Power is best in class and my mpgs currently are at 29 mpg over the last 2,000 miles.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@302Mustang13 my new CX-5 rides great! But I changed out the tires that it came with. It’s super quiet and the interior has high quality soft materials and lots of leather bits on the doors and center tunnel. The armrest is wide. And all the knobs and switches feel high quality, my gas mileage is lower at 26.5-28 at the most in the city thought; but I don’t care about gas mileage. I just fill it up when needed. It’s not a suburban and I think far too much emphasis is placed on a few miles here and there. Gas is not an expensive item when people buy $1500 iPhones, $400 designer jeans, $50 hair cuts, $1000 purses, eating out and Starbucks daily and so on.

    • @302Mustang13
      @302Mustang13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2004cyrus thing that scares me about soft touch materials is I believe they won't hold up well long term. Do you have the turbo CX-5? I'm just curious because it is the vehicle I passed on. I was actually disappointed in the 2020 CR-V on the test drive. The engine and transmission were terrible imo and sucked all the fun out of driving. I thought the CX-5 would have been the most fun with zoom zoom in mind but was really disappointed with the ride quality and felt the transmission was not competitive. The RAV4 was barely better than the CR-V and the Equinox was ok.
      To me fuel economy is important cause one tank a week at $40 each is $160 a month at $3/gal. I figured gas prices would hover between $3-$6+ a gallon over time and that can be $300+ a month at high prices at that rate. Drive more and that cost is huge. I don't want to be dumping $600+ a month in fuel. Believe me, it adds up and most people overlook that expense.

      I think you mean Titanium. I have the same engine and transmission and I'm averaging about 28-29 mpg since my last oil change in April. I've seen 32-34 on the highway and that is at 80 mph.

      @biasedthoughts ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's the "metal" version. I'm at 21mpg average. High altitude and town driving only. 27mpg with 1.5. The 1.5 also did that in winter so I think the divide is actually greater. Had an ST with a version of the 2.0 it was about the same.

    You can get LED fog lamps on the Platinum. Fix the rear taillights and put the Mustang Mack E rear lamp on the 2023 Escape and the exterior refresh would be complete. Here’s the deal about the RAV4: it looks like a washing machine compare the Escape. Also, the design bar is set by the Tucson and the CX5. If I were to compare the CRV to anything it would be the Bronco Sport which aesthetically the Bronco Sport runs donuts around the CRV. I think if you have the right expectations, the refreshed Escaped works but for folks who really want a bit more dare I say “bling” with the Escape styling, if you can get a deal on one, get the Platinum. Finally, the Dodge Hornet arguable has a bit more aesthetic polish and curb appeal than the Escape and would probably turn a few more heads than the Escape. In fairness to the Escape, the Hornet has a bit of an advantage where its design strategy started out as an Alfa Romeo.

    $32K is relatively not so bad, except, I'm not sure I'm on board with that tripod engine. But, it's better than an EV, and you do get a traditional torque converter step-gear automatic. Scotty Kilmer does have me scared of turbos.

    • @302Mustang13
      @302Mustang13 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you change the fluids regularly you shouldn't have an issue. That and single turbos are not that expensive if they do go. I have 40k miles on my 2.0 turbo and I use AMSOIL and change every 7k miles or so. If you ignore the 10k mile or 1 year recommendation you will be fine. Only way I'd go near 10k is if I did a ton of highway over 4-5 months.

      @@302Mustang13 why waste money on a bad ford turbo if you can just get a Mazda and avoid the turbo and get 250,000 trouble free miles with the Amsoil? My family and I are hitting 230,000 miles on all of our Mazda on average, non-turbos. We’ve been a Mazda family since 1989, way before I was born. I’ve had a few used and once I graduated medical school I got my first couple of new Mazdas. They get outstanding reviews by all on TH-cam, the comment sections are full of love for the brand with barely any owners that don’t want another one. It’s like eating McDonald’s all of your life and being okay with it because you are just happy to eat then you get a Mazda which feels like Outback Steakhouse and you realize you don’t want to eat McDonald’s ever again. It’s definitely upmarket feel without the cost. TFL Cars and And another channel I can’t remember that is hosted my Chris Wardlaw always say it feels like Mazda dips each car part in lubricant before they assemble the parts together because the smoothness and lack of friction and grinding are Lexus level.

    It’s hard to take Ford seriously these days. Their products are over priced on their quest to make EVs and you just get mediocrity. You may get a 13” screen but there’s more to a nice interior than that. My pick is the CRV in this class right now. The Rav4 needs a refresh at least on the interior.
