Finally MAZDA seems to be "on a roll"!
I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and have a 2019 CX 5 Grand Touring Reserve ( next model , top model) 2.5 L. turbo, AWD. It is a true luxury compact SUV. The top Signature model was compared to an Infinity QX 50 by Motor Trend magazine and WON!

In person CX-30 is the best looking among them and interior quality is gorgeous and it's more powerful with that SkyActive-X engine. My second choice is the XCeed followed by CH-R but both a bit lower compared to the Mazda.🏎 🏎 🏎

Having driven both Xceed and Peugeot 2008 myself I agree with Autogefuel author that the choice is easy depending your driving profile.Xceed is a car more for motorways and long journeys and 2008 more economical and fun to drive inside city.

Just picked up an XCeed 3 spec rather than the 4 that you reviewed. Best looking car out of all you reviewed, especially on 18" wheels.

Went with the juke. There are better cars out there performance wise but it offers alot for the money. I wanted a Toyota but the asking price for their hybrid engine is just out of my reach and nissan had a product that met my needs for alot less money.

Mazda has updated the SkyactiveX engines, they're now mild-hybrid (you can tell from the badge, now eSkyactiveX) and have 186hp and different torque curve
How and in what aspects is the Xceed better than the cx30?

Think that reliability should have been taken inte consideration when making this kind of comparisons. If you do that Mazda and Toyota are miles in fron of the others.
Keep having arguments about this offline ... do you think the 2008 and the Captur are more in the "compact" SUV segment like the CX3 from Mazda ? The CX30 is based on the Mazda 3, which is more a competitor to 308 and Golf. Or what was the rationale of including the 2008 here ? by the I just looove the CX30, closely followed by the 2008.
you can sort vehicles by platform, size, price... always hard to argue what is the right way :)
The CX 30 ie EASILY the best looking SUV in this comparison. And likely it is the best handling if my US model 2019 CX 5 with 2.5 L. turbo and AWD is any indication.
I disagree. The 2008 looks amazing and different, on the outside aswell as on the inside (with the big screen and Lamborghini-like buttons) it's a unique car and not a bad engine

I drove Xceed, Mazda CX30 and 2008, I decided to buy Peugeot 2008, the quality of the finishes is superior, both outside and inside, modern, elegant, sporty, Mazda looks good, but has coarse plastic inserts in the body, above the wheels , very wide, bulging, which give a feeling of cheap, after wearing, the carpet is not the best quality, 2000 engine with 115 hp and 215 Nm, for SkyActiv G, quite lazy for a car with such cylinders , in 2022

Finylly somebody talks about Mazda automatic gearboxes. This is something that puzzles me: So many manufacturers offer automatic gearboxes (classic or double clutch) that accelerate the same as manual ones and consume the same but with Mazda it's usually 2 seconds longer to 60 mph and 1 liter more per 100km. Why? AFAIK they build their own automatic transmissions or at least it was mentioned that for the new 6 (back then) they developed a new one. Are they really so inefficient? If so, why don't they buy from some manufacturer who can build modern transmissions?
Yes indeed. Slow and inefficient, boosts the consumption, only at Mazda. And their manual gearboxes are among the very best at the same time. Strange.
Thats the thing - while not as efficient those classic hydrodynamic coupling planetary gearboxes are just indestructible compared to dry clutch automated manuals. If you frequently drive in stop and go traffic you can ruin DCT in 100k km with repairs costing way more than the differnce that would classic AT eat in fuel. And your spine will thank you too. But what would I know, I have ruined only two dry clutch automatics in my lifetime...

The xceed is a beauty. I like the xc30 too. The juke keeps being a joke. Although better than the previous version. But that was easy

If I was shopping in this segment, I would take the Toyota for sure. The Toyota provides all I need for this segment, also it is rocking that Thomas blue very nicely. In my opinion, it is nice looking, but that is not a reason why I buy any car. I trust Toyota's Hybrids the most. That is a plus for me.

Been driving my quirky nissan juke since 2013 and still rolling! I love my Juke! Reliable even on Canadian winter! Did not fail me so far.
Keep on rolling my friend. Weird cars keep the world interesting. Imagine how boring the world would be with just safe conservative designs and good deisgns. Having weird is good.

I have this car in the UK, this car shares technology with Audi….
Not much different in fuel consumption? Yeah right. What is aerodynamics? Also, it's not any roomier or practical than a normal hatchback.
There's absolutely no reason this car shape to exist. Unless you have a broom instead of a spine and can't bend at all to sit in a normal car.
Its true, they are not that much higher and dont consume much more. There are group economy tests about it
Only Mazda, Toyota and maybe electric Peugeot(as all EVs) will last over 100000 miles no problems what so ever, buying combustion engine powered Nissan ,Mitsubishi anything European, Korean, US or Chinese is not gonna end well for mental and financial health of the owners at least in the long term

The Toyota is from a different class of vehicle it's not a supermini based crossover it's from the next class, and it's a lot more expensive than the others.
So do the Xceed and CX-30, though. Both are based from C-segment cars (Ceed and Mazda3), just like C-HR (Corolla).
They are crossovers, not a SUV
