I have never owned a Mitsubishi but I drove Mitsubishi Fuso trucks in a previous job. We abused and neglected those trucks like you have no idea! However they just never quit! Those things are indestructible! I was very impressed by that!

Outlander for sure. Rather have a Japanese built car with the 5/60 bumper to bumper and the 100/100 powertrain. I believe the Kia is also the same warranty. I don't need almost 300 hp. I'll save that for my sports cars. The Mitsubishi connect app allows you to remote start the vehicle from your phone with their app, also, you can find your car, roll down the windows, lock the doors, turn on of off the lights and much more. The 3rd row seat on each of them are worth-less. Enough room for a deflated beach ball and unborn child. Just a marketing ploy for both. The Outlander DOES have Blind Spot Monitoring, 360 degree camera, Moving Object Detection, Pre-collision with pedestrian detection, all speed cruise control, Lane departure monitoring w/ lane keep assist, automatic high beams, Rain-sensing wipers, Hand's free power rear hatch, navigation with 7 inch display screen. It also has MY PILOT on the SE and up. This allows you to set cruise and all you have to do is keep a hand lightly on the steering wheel.
I have never been a fan of Kia's or Hyundai's. They both make great cars but not my thing.

Have owned 4 Mitsubish's and 5 KIA's and can say unequivocally that the KIA's by far and away performed better, lasted longer and were easier to maintain and service.

Love the Outlander. Got one for me & another one for my wife. Great interior, simple long lasting motors (per Mitsubishi history) and end up saving about 6K-10K with almost all tech features & interior as I compared the Outlander with RAV4, Kia, Mazda, & Hyundai.

Thanks for the review! Since you asked which one I would pick, I would pick the outlander. It looks so fantastic. Also, mitsubishis are very reliable cars. There is an outlander here in TH-cam with 390,000 miles on it. That's a big win for the mitsubishi

  • @trainsurgeon

Great comparison with competing vehicles, very informative!
I’m going with the Outlander. Styling, technology and price are more important to me than power. That’s not to say power isn’t important - it certainly is.
I believe I would be satisfied with the Mitsubishi’s combination of adequate power as well as ride comfort. Being able to accelerate adequately for a lane change to avoid slower drivers, is my subjective viewpoint for power. It’s the long rides I’m equally concerned with.
I live in Philadelphia where there is a lot of stop and go traffic. But I occasionally drive up and down the Northeast Corridor - roughly 400-500 miles. The Outlander would be best for both driving environments I feel.

Mitsubishi builds a solid reliable well configured vehicle. This new edition is a perfect evolution of their brand. For the money the Outlander offer huge value, and a nice safe comfortable vehicle. As for the Kia their styling, multitude of features and engine options makes it a strong contender. In the end if it came down to price, feature and reliability I would pick the Outlander. The Sorento has the performance, but that comes at a price that I’m not willing to go as there are many other options I would explore at that price range. Give me the Outlander! Well done Mitsubishi, this is a compelling vehicle to make Mitsubishi a more Household name.

The 2022 steering is a little heavy in my opinion, If you have it in the ECO or Normal mode it can be a bit sluggish but turn the dial to TARMAC and your off! not a race car but a sporty vehicle.

Huh? The Outlander has better tech such as wireless Apple CarPlay. Mitsubishi Connect which you can use to control the climate from the app, set speed limit alert to your phone is you allow a teen drive to take the vehicle, etc. It also has power driver and passenger seats. It also has massaging seats. Does Sorento have that?

2022 Outlander all the way for sure! I would have to disagree with some negatives mentioned in the video. I have owned a 2015 outlander SE with the SAWC model. I have put so far 110,000 miles on it and 2 things that I needed to change was new tyres at 85,000 miles and brakes at 105,000 miles. I even got tow hitch installed on it and towed a U-haul trailer in a cross country, had no problem at all. It's really a low-maintenance vehicle that comes with standard 3rd-row seats across all models. I really like the new front fascia of the outlander, it reminds me more of a Lexus styling than a palisade. The tail end resembles more like an X5. The superior quality seats and interior along with the design and aesthetic of this new vehicle are really next level, all above in its class. If someone is more interested in a better review of outlander I would highly recommend Raiti's Riders video or review by Everyday reviews for this new 2022 Outlander. I look forward to V6 & PHEV versions being launched by Mitsubishi sooner too!

I've owned 3 Mitsubishis since 2006 including 2 Outlander GTs. I agree the new 2022 interior design is leaps ahead of prior models, and Sorento. I am disappointed they chose to use same engine and CVT as Nissan Rogue. The 3.0 L V6 and 6-speed transmission with paddle controls gave control and power and towing option that will be sorely missed.

The Sorento reminds me of Dodge Journey, with that, I’m not a fan of the exterior. The interior, however, Kia has the Mitsubishi beat when screens are compared but I like everything else of the Outlander minus the power put. I guess I’d take the outlander exterior design with the Sorento’s interior and power. I’d pick the outlander though since we can’t mix and match. Mitsubishi has a track history of being tune monsters. Tune this outlander and smoke the competition

If you enjoy power, buy the Mitsu.... it does absolutely suck when you miss the power because you are on the interstate and the motor in your Sorento throws a rod (without warning), leaving you completely stranded on the interstate. Luckily (because of recalls), there is an extended warranty on the motor (not the car) because this is a common Kia/Hyundai issue.

Mitsubishi to me is similar to Subaru...they make generally good cars but they always manage to shoot themselves in the foot with features that keep them off of my short list. CVTs (both), Subaru's massive, all-encompassing information display, the Outlander's hot steaming mess of a front fascia and Highlander rear end, coupled with anemic engine output, are just a couple of examples.
