I know this is probably just a coincidence but it’s funny how you seem to have a vendetta against Levitate and it makes sense because you’re a ground type user XD
Thermal Exchange would make sense on the Galarian Darmanitan, since it's already an interplay of fire and ice. Could also imagine some of the kindly Pokemon like Audino making use of Hospitality. Could give Solrock and Lunatone Purifying Salty; granted these critters aren't salt blocks, but it could reference their seemingly celestial origins and how their heavenly powers defy ghosts.
At some point it feels like Levitate should stop being an ability and just be an attribute added to Pokemon that can be seen levitating Is the Pokemon visually floating? Then you can’t hit it with a ground type move on top of whatever ability it has
You know, sometimes I wish that, at least for one game, Pokémon had all their abilities at once like in the Mystery Dungeon series just to see how badly competitive players freak out. It would also be a good way of allowing Pokémon like Aegislash to have more than one ability
If you mean Weezing... it still has Levitate. It never lost it, just gained Neutralizing Gas as a second normal ability. Why EC brought it up when talking about Levitate idk, because even in Gen 8 it never lost the ability. If you meant Gengar, then yeah he lost it 100%.
Aegislash could TOTALLY work if they gave it three abilities... One ability for its defense form, one for its attack form, and its hidden ability as Stance Change. The abilities could make it only stay in that form (i.e. you could actually attack with defense form if you have the defensive ability, instead of switching to attack form). - No Guard (or alternatively Sharpness) for attack form. - Battle Armor for defense form (though Heatproof would be a SICK ability for an Aegislash). - Stance Change as its hidden ability.
I feel like the biggest fix for Levitate would be if when a Pokemon gets sent out the ability would pop up and say “____ is levitating in the air”. That way A) Game freak would feel less bad about giving levitate mons other abilities (so that way the player doesn’t have to do the guessing game on if each Pokemon has levitate). And B) This helps GameFreak differentiate from those hovering mons like magnezone and venomoth that ARENT immune to ground, showing the difference in game between levitation and just hovering
@@samachu09 I mean for open team sheets you’d see it anyways. Plus a lot of the times you switch in your levitate mons on incoming ground moves anyways, meaning levitate would get revealed regardless and you’d still get the use out of it!
Thank you for talking about the Levitate menace, so many pokemon, so much potential for cool or interesting ability options, all wasted by someone at gamefreak going "It floats right? Just make all it's abilities levitate, boom done, let's move on to the next one" Every single pokemon with only levitate as an ability NEEDS to be set free
1. Dig & Fly Leftovers Archeops is amazing & I love it. 2. All Rotom forms should get new Abilities, keeping Levitate as their HA. This does include Basic Rotom. 3. Ghost-type pkmn should resist Ground or be outright immune to it. 4. Levitate shouldn't exist as an Ability, it should be either an extra characteristic of some pkmn or be part of new Abilities, such as Magnet Rise (Magnet Pull + Levitate) or Smoke Body (Levitate + immunity to SmokeScreen). 5. Levitate Carnivine would have made sense if it had the Grass/Poison typing. I still don't know why it isn't Bellsprout counterpart to Bellossom.
My man Vikavolt needs the speed boost ability if they are gonna commit to it being slower than Celesteela. Grubbin can get the hidden ability sap sipper while Charjabug can get the hidden ability volt absorb
Archeops with Rattled would be really good in VGC, since Rattled also activates from Intimidate. Archeops's special attack is also pretty decent, so it could still deal damage, but would probably be better as a tailwind setter that gets better against Incineroar, attacking it with a super effective move and stuff like that.
I think volt absorb should be given to the entire rotom roster. Makes sense thematically and then fan form can at least have something useful without being singled out. Also, it's hilarious that a few years back, when playing random battles on Showdown, rotom fan always had an air balloon as it's item just for the joke of it lol
12:20 I wish Levitate was a mechanic (like Sound or Contact) rather than an Ability. Although maybe that would make the Flying Type redundant? Imagine if there was an "Airborne" mechanic which included Ground immunity, and the Flying Type itself didn't have Ground immunity. So Flying Types that aren't airborne (like Gyarados and Doduo) would get hit by Ground moves, while airborne mons (like Butterfree and Gastly) would have Ground immunity.
With the existence of the Ability Patch I think mythicals, Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokemon should be allowed to have Hidden Abilities so long as their current ability isn't too central to their identity (so I wouldn't suggest Arceus get one but Celebi should). After all, a bunch of legendaries have hidden abilities and not just the ones with Pressure. For instance Grassy Surge would be a great Hidden Ability for Celebi, or Gluttony a really obvious Guzzlord Hidden Ability
Thematic as it would be, ComatoseLax would be weird in competitive play. It would basically be a better version of Lax’s Immunity ability. ComaLax would be immune to not only poison, but all status conditions. The trade-off is that Comatose Pokémon cannot use Rest, and therefore ComaLax has to rely on Leftovers alone for recovery.
The big issue, though, is that they would have to remove Sleep Talk from its moveset to give Snorlax Comatose, else it could make use of otherwise low priority moves in its moveset at +0 priority, which could be a problem if Snorlax was in Trick Room
I had this cool idea of Emergency Exit not only boosting the power of Switch Out moves but also giving them +1 Priority at low health with Golisopod getting U-Turn and Flip Turn along with Archeops having it replace Defeatist. I also thought of having Spiritomb and Cryogonal get Intimidate since I think they look the part.
Hydreigon being the only pseudo without a hidden ability always seemed unfair to me 😅. I would give it Sheer Force, maybe it's not too balanced but it fits its lore so well as the "brutal pokemon" lol
It honestly deserves Sheer Force, especially with it being so weak to Fairy. That or Berserk, to make it thematic and lean more towards its special attacking ways.
I kinda wish slaking had stall for a hidden ability, while still bad I feel like it makes you choose which nerf you wanted slaking to have either wait every other turn to attack but be speedy or be forced to move last but can use slack off more effectively
There are several Levitating Pokemon that should just get brand new ability: - Rotom-A: Inner Ghost: Boosts Ghost attacks by 50%. (Base Rotom should get Prankster) - Solrock/Lunatone: Asteroid: A combination of Levitate and Solid Rock. - Unown: Symbolic Aid: Grants a buff to the entire team for including Unown. What buff depends on the form. - Chimecho: Chime: Performs a Heal Bell when hit by a move.
I would say we should give Golisopod shell armor as an ability. If we need to give emergency exit to Golisopod then I’d recommend reworking the ability so when Golisopod gets switched out his stat changes don’t go away. This would make Golisopod more balanced
I'd say make it a combo ability like Bloodmoon Ursaluna's Mind's Eye, where it still forces a swap like Wimp Out but also comes with the effect of Regenerator to get back 1/3 of it HP. Gives it more survivability and would improve people's outlook on the pokemon itself.
@@emperorcubone Yeh sure. Big fan of starters being competitively viable, starters are cool and very iconic. In the recent games, you can actually do this with the Ability Capsule/Ability Patch! Maybe it could have a message pop up like it does when a Pokemon holds an Air Balloon? Something along the lines of '[Pokemon] levitates off the ground!' to let the player know that the Pokemon can levitate, perhaps?
@@tidalshores perhaps. Idk it's kinda like HMs. Why does my pokemon need to learn a specific move to do what it does naturally? Especially cut. Slash, X-scissor etc. should be better at cutting things since they are more powerful moves. Heck why can't I burn a small bush with any fire type? I kinda get why they want it tied to abilities but in a way it's also less intuitive. Though a general system of Land and Aerial creatures could work. Like a little L of A to tell you as just a mechanic. But then the flying type itself becomes really odd, and there's a whole question of Ground moves that don't actually make sense to be immune to just because you're in the air like drill run. What makes Drill Run different from Drill Peck when Fearrow can do both? Game mechanics aren't always logical I suppose.
Simple isn't actually a detrimental ability like how Klutz is and it's not useless either like Run Away. It's actually one of the best in the game for set-up sweepers since it doubles stat increases.
This video seemed a lot less focused than your normal videos. I personally feel they need to get rid of the levitate ability as it stands. It stopped being necessary once we moved away from sprites. We can now see what Pokemon aren't touching the ground. What I'd replace it with is a classification system whereby Pokemon are classed as Airborne or Grounded with Airborne Pokemon getting a little wing next to their name to make it clear. The Airborne classification would be what confers the Ground immunity rather than Levitate or even the Flying Type. For example Venomoth would be classed as Airborne and gain a Ground immunity while Dodrio would be classed as Grounded and lose its immunity. If a free immunity on a case by case basis rather than tying it to Ability or Type is too overpowered then maybe give Airborne Pokemon an additional Flying Weakness to represent their increased vulnerability to being blown about by the wind.
Here’s how imma remove levitate… 1. It doesn’t exist, and levitating works more like attacks where there’s other factors like “Sound Based Moves”, “Physical” & “Physical Contact” moves. If a pokemon can float/fly above the ground, it’s immune to moves like EQ & Bulldoze 2. They would however be susceptible to moves like Mud Bomb, Bone Rush, etc as it’s dumb for a bird to be capable of getting punched by fire or slashed by swords, but BONES… NAH, can’t happen 3. Pokemon will now get regular abilities, Gengar now gets Shadow Tag & Cursed Body, but can levitate above the ground. Flygon gets Sand Veil & Sand Stream, and best of all… Now is that like too much work to do for GF? Maybe… nah very likely, but hey a man can dream
It's like those guys who try to play Pure Hackmons with Slaking and Huge Power but legalized. That sounds like WAY too much of a mess, unless Gorrila Tactics becomes a mixture of both itself and Truant, which could actually make it interesting.
I lowkey dislike your assessment about Archeops. For any pokemon with a crippling ability, they should buff the mon so it can function in spite of having such ability. In Archeops' case, the stat distribution should be more efficient: HP: 75 -> 85 Atk: 140 -> 160 Def: 65 -> 75 Satk: 112 -> 50 Sdef: 65 -> 75 Spd: 110 -> 122 And Regigigas should have a stat buff too. He should have the highest BST in the game by virtue of it being the only legendary with a crippling ability: HP: 110 -> 130 Atk: 160 -> 230 Def: 110 Satk: 80 -> 90 Sdef: 110 Spd: 100 -> 130
I literally said to just change its stats around to make them better, so I agree with you! But short of that they could at least give it a USEful ability in the meantime...
0:24 Now that I think about it, why does the marowack even have Lightning Rod? Sure it's a nice electric immunity but considering the original is ground type so that's pointless and the fact that both of them are physical attackers which makes the special attack boost useless. Alolan Marowack should've been a special attacker to take advantage of the spatk boost and have different abilities to boot. 1:24 I mean Aegislash could work as a really good defensive pokemon without stance change. Maybe magic guard? 5:50 The only thing I can think of as to what makes Levitate work on Fan form is that it avoids hazard damage when switching in. 7:00 I always thought Defeatist became redundant when later gens came in with major power creep. 10:29 I mean considering the fact Dhelmise has a massive 131 attack compared to it's mediocre 86 special attack? Maybe Water Absorb would be better since it restores health instead of giving it a pointless special attack buff. Levitate should be given to Magnezone and Probopass to help with their quad weakness to Ground.
I feel if we gave rotom fan a new ability then maybe the other forms too.

I like arechpoes ability but yeah 2nd ability could get kluzts simple or runaway
Anything but those 😭
Simple isn't actually a detrimental ability like how Klutz is and it's not useless either like Run Away. It's actually one of the best in the game for set-up sweepers since it doubles stat increases.
I never really got why the slakoth line can't get comatose, it's a sloth
At least for the first stage; I get why Slaking is forced to have Truant...
Here’s how imma remove levitate…
1. It doesn’t exist, and levitating works more like attacks where there’s other factors like “Sound Based Moves”, “Physical” & “Physical Contact” moves. If a pokemon can float/fly above the ground, it’s immune to moves like EQ & Bulldoze
2. They would however be susceptible to moves like Mud Bomb, Bone Rush, etc as it’s dumb for a bird to be capable of getting punched by fire or slashed by swords, but BONES… NAH, can’t happen
3. Pokemon will now get regular abilities, Gengar now gets Shadow Tag & Cursed Body, but can levitate above the ground. Flygon gets Sand Veil & Sand Stream, and best of all…
Now is that like too much work to do for GF? Maybe… nah very likely, but hey a man can dream
Haha, the immunity to Bone attacks really gets me! It makes zero sense...
Slaking needs Gorilla Tactics
Objectively, no it does not. That would be terrifying....
It's like those guys who try to play Pure Hackmons with Slaking and Huge Power but legalized. That sounds like WAY too much of a mess, unless Gorrila Tactics becomes a mixture of both itself and Truant, which could actually make it interesting.
I don’t know why, but for some reason most mons that have Levitate as an ability don’t have any other ability
Team Sky members would be grateful to have a Genger.
Seriously what's with Pokemon and levitate?
Poor Ground types gettin' ignored left and right!
I lowkey dislike your assessment about Archeops. For any pokemon with a crippling ability, they should buff the mon so it can function in spite of having such ability. In Archeops' case, the stat distribution should be more efficient:
HP: 75 -> 85
Atk: 140 -> 160
Def: 65 -> 75
Satk: 112 -> 50
Sdef: 65 -> 75
Spd: 110 -> 122
And Regigigas should have a stat buff too. He should have the highest BST in the game by virtue of it being the only legendary with a crippling ability:
HP: 110 -> 130
Atk: 160 -> 230
Def: 110
Satk: 80 -> 90
Sdef: 110
Spd: 100 -> 130
Hi
And I look cool
And something else
And another thing
Ok bye
I would give all dual-typed Pokemon Adaptability
Hah, works for me!
That sounds...Very broken. Especially for those with glass cannon stats.
Aegeslash could keep the sharpness hidden ability as like another form that is only a sword with no shield
I'm never one to turn down more forms of Aegislash!
