One of the only people I know to encourage young artists to use others art, trace, draw and learn from it that way! I’m glad I found your page as all I’ve ever been told is using others art as a base and inspiration is wrong, and I struggled with art because of it for a bit, even though I loved to do it I couldn’t get it to look right and was told if I used other peoples art to draw inspiration from or borrow elements from I wasn’t really an artist. THANK YOU!
I've felt stuck with my art for ages now, but every time I see one of your videos, I feel really inspired to start creating art again. Not only is your style really beautiful and inspiring, but you also usually have some nice words of encouragement
Thankyou for this. Any time I start from scratch my art is discouragingly bad, and I’ve always been too worried that tracing/‘copying’ someone else’s art is wrong, so I just avoided doing art, even for myself. This is the motivation I need to give it a go with a fighting chance of my art looking even remotely like I want it to
Coming from a music production person, this is the same when you start out making “type beats” until your own style eventually forms from learning how your greats made their works great. Love the channel! 😊
Thank you so much for constantly reminding me and other artists that you really should copy and trace from the masters to learn, I really wish I learned that sooner, my art has improved so much once I stopped trying to shackle myself by not copying/tracing/using reference. Also your art is always so lovely~ you're truly an inspiration
My respect for this guy just flew off the charts. So many artists are told tracing and copying are "cheating" but like he said it's learning what makes it art.
i had an idea for the holidays coming up, so you know how you had Octo-brrr? maybe you could do Decem-brrr, with some winter activities! and it could be a deer (or a reindeer,) since its ‘deer’cember, its not the best idea, i know, but i thought it was funny and along the lines of your last months drawing idea! (ps, youve really helped me get back into drawing! i always thought my art wasnt the best and gave up for a while, but coming across your page made me really interested in drawing again, and i did it! thank you scott ❤)
Thank you so, so much! Trough my whole art school i've been told by teachers that tracing is the worst thing that the artist can do, that basicly the fact that i traced a starter scetch for a big painthing made my painting no longer art. For years i felt that my art is insignificant and not even art. Im not a professional artist, i do it just for myself, and i still though i sas commiting some art sin. You saying repeatedly that its okay to trace made me finally relax after years and now im having so much fun and enjoy painting so much more. Thank you so, so much!
I love your perspective so much I’ve been told my whole life that there is rules in art and “you have to learn the rules before you break them” or I could just play It’s a nice refreshing experience to watch your content
SOOOO true!! In an effort to find my style, I have been doing numerous studies of other artists and I am loving it! Andd its been helping me polish my skills!!
That is a beautiful statue. I love the contrast between the traditionally fancy connotations of marble statues with how chill and layed back she's portrayed; not to dissimilar to how one might look, after a long day, sunk into thier couch.
You have no idea how much your words have motivated me right now. Thank you so much, I am mostly dabbling in digital art. But i am looking to get into sketching, and this was my fear that whatever I draw, it won't be deemed as art because i copied it from somewhere. Your drawings are amazing and you're an inspiration Scott, thanks again ✨
So inspirational! especially to me because I'm a very young artist. I 've always been scared of copying because it makes me feel ashamed of not being able to draw it myself. But now I feel better about it and I can learn from it anyway!
I couldn't agree more, and I'm not even an artist! As a musician, I've found one of the most valuable tools for getting better is to copy the artists that I like. It helps you with learning different techniques and especially with finding your own sound after building on some aspects of theirs :)
I have been struggling with my art lately and I lost motivation, but I just happend to get distracted watching TH-cam Shorts again and I found this video and you gave me inspiration and motivation again. Thank you.
I feel like this whole ‘copying and tracing is cheating’ thing comes mostly from younger newish artists who feel like they need to set themselves apart from the rest so that everyone can see they’re ‘real’ artists. But someone like Scott, who’s such an amazing artist with so much experience and success and has done many great projects, is so secure and confident in his art that he doesn’t have to gatekeep it and instead encourages people to pick up art and to learn in any way they can. Thank you for everything you teach us Scott, you truly are magnificent.
This video! I've learned that I normally feel the best about my original art, directly after copying artwork i like and using that experience to take something ive learned how to do for my own work.
I’ve always “copied” my art from others I’ve seen and felt bad, like I can’t make real art because I find it hard to create something off the top of my head, thank you for sharing inspires me to be more creative without feeling bad!
I’ve never been artistic n struggle to draw a stick man but after watching dozens of your videos I decided to go out n buy a few simple supplies n start drawing. Something I haven’t done since I had to at school. I’ve always loved art but never tried to learn or improve cos I was embarrassed. You’ve inspired me to just try n improve n allow me to realise I don’t have to be good, as it can just be for me n that’s ok if I enjoy the process. Thanks Scott, you really are inspiring.
Thank you for this video. It reminds me that learning and not being the best is okay. You're an amazing artist, and you have a wonderful personality that helps people around you. Have a great day 😁

This is the motivation I need to give it a go with a fighting chance of my art looking even remotely like I want it to
you inspired me a lot. Thanks!
I am a young artist and agree SOO much that copying things that inspire you is so important to bringing your creativity to a new level
Coming from a music production person, this is the same when you start out making “type beats” until your own style eventually forms from learning how your greats made their works great. Love the channel! 😊
thank you, ive been worrying about all my art having to be original and that making things easy for yourself is lazy, your videos really motivate me
Thank you so much for constantly reminding me and other artists that you really should copy and trace from the masters to learn, I really wish I learned that sooner, my art has improved so much once I stopped trying to shackle myself by not copying/tracing/using reference.
THE MUSIC GIVES ME NOSTALGIA 😭
I love your perspective so much
I’ve been told my whole life that there is rules in art and “you have to learn the rules before you break them” or I could just play
It’s a nice refreshing experience to watch your content
SOOOO true!! In an effort to find my style, I have been doing numerous studies of other artists and I am loving it! Andd its been helping me polish my skills!!
The speech he gave it just gave so much inspiration
That is a beautiful statue. I love the contrast between the traditionally fancy connotations of marble statues with how chill and layed back she's portrayed; not to dissimilar to how one might look, after a long day, sunk into thier couch.
You have no idea how much your words have motivated me right now. Thank you so much, I am mostly dabbling in digital art. But i am looking to get into sketching, and this was my fear that whatever I draw, it won't be deemed as art because i copied it from somewhere. Your drawings are amazing and you're an inspiration Scott, thanks again ✨
I've always been a big proponent of copying and tracing. It's how I learned, how I continue to learn, and it has made me a much greater artist.
Thank you Scott, you are helping alot of people like me with those videos.
your work & words inspire me immensely 🥹🫶❤️
I love how encouraging you are. It genuinely brightens my day when I see one of your videos come across my feed.
Thank you for being a positive force for my mentality as an artist
I have been struggling with my art lately and I lost motivation, but I just happend to get distracted watching TH-cam Shorts again and I found this video and you gave me inspiration and motivation again. Thank you.
You make me feel so much better about trying new things in art man!!! I'm happy u were born
Have a great day 😁
I’m a young artist and your videos inspire me to draw! I tend to copy pictures I see and sometimes mix drawing until they’re something original
I suppose this applies to other art forms too! I am a jazz musician and from day one our teachers always told us to listen, listen listen and copy things for your improvisation That’s the best way to learn about your craft.
This is exactly why I watch this guy so often, he encourages you to try and improve even if you feel like you’re at your peak
Thank you for saying this. It makes so much sense. Thank you, thank you!
I recently took your advice on "stealing" from other artists. and now the way I draw eyes on my characters has changed and I think it fits my style even better than how I was doing it before! thank you for giving such amazing advice!
everytime i have art block i copy sculptures. it's fun and easy and it always turns out great and motivates me to do more!!!
For some reason, these videos always make me happier and seem to brighten up my day!
I'm so happy that I was watching TH-cam that late night because if I wasn't doing that I would have never found this courage to express my feelings into art.Thank you ❤️❤️
you are my big inspiration. when ever i make more art i watch you're videos you made me start art again.
It doesn't matter if you completely "copy" or not. You still added a personal twist with your own are style. If you traced it, it doesn't matter, it brought a smile to your face.
As long as you're not using someone else's art and selling it as your own, it's not stealing. If you only use the copies for developing your own skills, then there's no issue. 🥰
Thank you! Everytime I watch your videos I feel better!
