My one drawing talent is that I can draw very realistic horses from memory. This is due to a childhood obsession with horses and different horse breeds (I never owned a horse and didn't really live close to any or ride other than occasionally on holidays, so not sure where that came from, haha). I can tell you that beyond childhood my magical skill has not served me much. I love your blue horses - they have so much personality.
OMG are we the same person?? I can draw horses from memory bc of my childhood obsession too!! And never rode or met one till later on, I think I was obsessed with the saddle club 😹
It's wild, I've been making art my whole life- over three decades!- and it hasn't hit me until your comment that I can just paint over what I don't like.
"I like being forced to make marks confidently." I needed this! Erasers are my enemy. I will drive myself nuts and never finish. I *just* started doing everything in my newest sketchbook with a fudenosuke and I love how imperfectly bold it all is.
4:01 idk why but i LOVED this horse SO MUCH. It spoke to my inner child and it almost seemed to be telling me that everything is going to be alright.. Which is why I was surprised you weren’t a big fan! I am also trying to pick up art again, and you reminded me that just because i hate my art, doesn’t mean that it isn’t art. Tysm for sharing! You are an eccentric artist and i’m very grateful i stumbled across your channel!!🩵
I actually looooove the funky "from memory" animals. somehow they really capture the spirit and movement of the animals better than more realistic drawings imo.
I love watching your videos. I'm laying on the bed with my 2 week old baby and a horrible cold so I was really happy when I saw there was a new video to watch! Always inspiring with lots of feel good vibes! Thank you
Don’t mind me just commenting so I remember to come back and rewatch when I want to get inspired. I LOVE how playful you are with your art. It’s the perfect mix of a playful yet stylized proper technique
I love little knit hooded girls! They look cozy just like how it feels to watch your videos💖 I’ve been halted at the end of my sketchbook but now I’ll be drawing some blue horses from memory. Wish me luck.
I really love this. I've never seen your channel until now as far as I know. Every page felt like a nice little surprise. Typically sketchbook tours show a predominant style of the artist, but you were able to show all sorts of drawing styles and it was refreshing!
4:59 I am absolutely in LOOOOVE with the layering of more realistic and stylized artwork. Honestly, I think the blue horses are really good despite what you might think, yes, they looks silly, but they appeal to my inner child and they have some kind of poetic value to them :0 In general, love your sketchbook so much !! can't wait to see what comes next in your art journey :]
Man I love sketchbooks. I love looking back and seeing the journey too (both art wise and just general life adventures that the sketchbook has come along for).
So I really enjoyed this. The blue horses and the green page with the butterfly were my favorites. I’m impressed with your ‘from memory’ horses! This tour gave me a lot of ideas. Thanks for sharing!
Such an amazing sketchbook!! This has really inspired me to be more creative and not put so much pressure on having to finish every drawing and it having to be 'perfect'. Watching you share a page you didn't love and then turn over to something you were really proud of reminded me that it doesn't have to be this linear process of getting better every time you make something, so thank you!!
Seeing artists who have a cool style draw or paint insects makes my phobia of them less intense. When I saw the beetle at 11:44 I fell a little bit in love with beetles. Your entire sketchbook is awesome!
3:43 OH GOOOD blue horses! One of my favorite childhood books was The Four-cornered round forest by Ervin Lázár, and one of the main characters was Seraphin Horse (Ló Szerafin), the blue horse! This felt so good to watch. Smiled a lot
I truly believe that "I don't mind, it's just a sketchbook" is so important to remember when we are afraid of messing up/experimenting because we don't want to "ruin the sketchbook" and it's missing opportunities because this is how you grow as an artist. Thanks for reminding us :)
My favorites are the trout and birds. Colorful and bold. Love it. Very cool to see your style emerge and evolve in the figures as well. My books are very chaotic so to see someone else's work with confident lines and strokes helps me learn. Thanks for the looky-look!
Thankyou for sharing your sketchbook with us. I watched a couple of your other videos (thanks to the youtube algorithm) before I ended up on this one. I admire your willingness to share, which is inspiring to me, and likely many others
I loved watching this video so much! I love the simple but complex style that you have, and gotta love that line work!! You really showed all the love in this video with your sketchbook. I can't wait to see all of the amazing creations you make next!
Oh lord those fish, I'm honestly so glad you did paint them! They're so vibrant and beautiful. Love your fish and you inspire me to want to draw so I've been doodling some herbs in my ipad ❤
6:55 "I painted this while skiing" I imagined someone doing a painting while literally skiing down a mountain and was double impressed because I can neither paint nor ski and you could both at the same time! Then it dawned on me I could have misunderstood 😅
Your art style is so fun and special! I’m definitely feeling inspired by your ease of doodles and fun you have with your art! I always stress about sketchbooks for no reason and this helped me see a different side and realize I don’t have to worry about making “good” art all the time
Horses are really challenging to draw- the proportions and construction are very specific. If any part is a little off, the whole thing looks off. To try by memory is impressive and even harder, I find them hard enough to get right with a reference. They are in my top 20 subjects but not my top 10. Lee Ames has some good step-by-steps that are tremendously helpful.
this is great! I also love drawing people looking at their phone. the most controlled figure models ever! the model with the plastic snake sounds too damn funny, I would've absolutely lost my mind laughing at that one... and the barbie doll?! 💀
I love your art and you seem like a really cool, eclectic person. I’ve been feeling a bit down but watching this cheered me up and made me feel inspired. Thank you! :)
I love the snake with the mushrooms at the beginning. I only have one small tattoo but that would make an awesome one. Your sketchbook is incredible, a solid style!!
Loooved all the fish sketches! I think I need to start drawing more fish. Also love that you make lists of things you love to draw because I do the same thing! 😊
Thanks for posting this!! It was wondering to hear about your process. You seem rlly intentional about documenting the important little details in life.
i enjoyed this lots. when i was filling lots of books it was the 90s and i wished i could watch other people work or see more work. that is the best thing about youtube. when the movie Crumb came out I realized how satisfying it was to watch someone draw on film, bc that was so rare then
Thank you for sharing your beautiful drawings❤❤❤ I really love your style and how you shared each story behind it. You’re inspiring me to draw again. I struggle with depression so I’m looking forward to getting that joy back
Enjoyed your sketchbook flip through. Just a hopefully helpful hint 😊 when working in a sketchbook or art journal, matte acrylic paints doesn’t stick to itself. Glossy or semi-gloss finish does.
Ahaha! I do that too, where I swatch or scribble or mess up on a page, then I paint over it with acrylic, and then draw or paint on top of that. Those Talens books are so great, and they really do hold up surprisingly well to water. And they're really affordable! Beautiful work, love your lines and your use of color.
I love this, this was so inspiring to watch! I just recently finished up a sketchbook and I'm starting a new one soon. I want to incorporate the same thought process you've shared and not take my sketchbook to seriously but rather as a place of exploration! Gorgeous work, I love the blue horses and the mountain paintings!:)
I remember hearing that whales in their natural habitat aren't measured by weight but by mass. Since their bodies have the same density as water, they can move through it without exerting additional effort to go up or down. Weightless beasts!
I really like the growth, the work at the end is fantastic

Just discover your channel and im in love, you make me wanna try full my forgotten sketchbook without thinking about making everything perfect, love your style path!
I REALLY enjoyed watching this! I am amazed at your drawings because they seem more like drawings than sketches. Your doodles inspire me to try cartooning. That's what I want my sketchbook to be.
Another amazing video! I really enjoy your voice and i could listen to you for hours. I just woke up and watching your video really motivated me to make art, so I grabbed my comic assignment due for next week and worked while listening to you. It also give me so many ideas for my sketchbook so thanks! I hope you are having a lovely day, here in France it feels like spring and it warms my heart
I love all the variety you included in your sketchbook. I feel inspired to do some figure drawing. I love the pages where you mixed up different subjects, like the woman with the pears.
This was really fun. I love the blue horses. Reminds me of "The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse" by Eric Carle. Hope you have a good rest of your week!💞
Wonderful sketchbook! I especially love the horses! I drew a horse the other day too. Well its a pony actually. And the day before I drew a draft cross. I also like to walk around and take photos of stuff that catches my eye to later turn them into drawings.
If you ever want to watch a weird mediocre movie involving a blue horse, I would recommend Camille from 2008. The trailer gives too much away so I would recommend just watching the movie with no other info for a strange time. Anyways, love your work!
last year i found those royal talens sketchbooks (i am living in madrid right now) i have one in that size and a bigger one. they are surprisingly super affordable and the paper is sturdy. i am enjoying seeing the progression in your work!
I have the square version of that sketchbook, couldn't get my hands on any of the cute pastel colours unfortunately but they're all so nice! every page of your sketchbook is incredible, I love that you've used so many different subjects, mediums and styles, it's inspirational 😍

I love how everybody loves drawing horses😂 but being able to draw them from memory perfectly is amazing ❤
That’s quite a talent.
OMG are we the same person?? I can draw horses from memory bc of my childhood obsession too!! And never rode or met one till later on, I think I was obsessed with the saddle club 😹
@@littlewillowlinda I totally forgot but as a kid I was given a bunch of old Black Stallion series books! So my obsession stems from books too!
Look Toulouse La Trec horse drawings and Edgar Degas’ horse paintings and George Stubbs (probably Englands) greatest horse painter.
One of my favourite things about sketchbooking is if you don’t like something, you can paint over the page and do something new.
I do that all the time. I draw something but seems boring so I erase it or flip the page, trace over it and create something different.😅
You’re always allowed to do that though. Don’t forget 😊
It's wild, I've been making art my whole life- over three decades!- and it hasn't hit me until your comment that I can just paint over what I don't like.
"I think the reason why these were so successful is because I went into them thinking they would just be little sketchbook paintings" so real
"I like being forced to make marks confidently."
I needed this! Erasers are my enemy. I will drive myself nuts and never finish. I *just* started doing everything in my newest sketchbook with a fudenosuke and I love how imperfectly bold it all is.

aww thank you so much!
Reminds me of Chagall.

is the baby 4 weeks old now? omg they grow so fast
Don’t mind me just commenting so I remember to come back and rewatch when I want to get inspired. I LOVE how playful you are with your art. It’s the perfect mix of a playful yet stylized proper technique
You make poorly proportioned/bad memory drawings of animals look cooler than a hyper realistic drawing cojld be
those blue horses r perfect they just don't have manes :) love them!
I love little knit hooded girls! They look cozy just like how it feels to watch your videos💖
I’ve been halted at the end of my sketchbook but now I’ll be drawing some blue horses from memory. Wish me luck.
It's always interesting to see what pages people like and don't like in their own sketchbooks. I really enjoyed the ones you weren't happy with.
"This is a blue horse" - laughed out loud at this one. What a fun tour! Inspired me to get my sketchbook out this weekend!
I really love this. I've never seen your channel until now as far as I know. Every page felt like a nice little surprise. Typically sketchbook tours show a predominant style of the artist, but you were able to show all sorts of drawing styles and it was refreshing!

The pears are my favorite. I also love your gouache landscapes.
So I really enjoyed this. The blue horses and the green page with the butterfly were my favorites. I’m impressed with your ‘from memory’ horses! This tour gave me a lot of ideas. Thanks for sharing!
I GOT OBSSESED WITH BLUE HORSES TOO. Because of a song called blue horses, that's crazy. I couldn't stop drawing them
Recently I love putting on sketch book tours / blogs for background noise as I doodle/sketch! It’s very relaxing 💞 ty for this video
Such an amazing sketchbook!! This has really inspired me to be more creative and not put so much pressure on having to finish every drawing and it having to be 'perfect'. I LOVE the first blue horse from memory! So whimsical!
It’s awesome how well you credit the people you draw inspiration from!!
I LOVE THE BLUE HORSES!!!!!! so cute wow

New hobby: watch sketchbook tours while filling up the blank spaces / finishing pages on your own sketchbook
plus your fish are really good with the colour added. i think it worked
My favorites are the trout and birds. Colorful and bold. Love it. Very cool to see your style emerge and evolve in the figures as well. My books are very chaotic so to see someone else's work with confident lines and strokes helps me learn. Thanks for the looky-look!
Love love love! I like the snow and desert paintings . You definitely have an awesome style Kristen 😊
I love your blue horses painted without references
I just gotta tell you that you're one of the inspirations for the main character in a book i'm writing
Love how different the pages are, so many great works of art 😍
Thankyou for sharing your sketchbook with us. I watched a couple of your other videos (thanks to the youtube algorithm) before I ended up on this one. I admire your willingness to share, which is inspiring to me, and likely many others
Thanks for putting this up LTE. Pace reminds me a lot of Chagall, the way he treats color and light gives a lot of energy to the pieces.
I love the idea of drawing your favorite photos, and especially drawing your pets 😢
I loved watching this video so much! I love the simple but complex style that you have, and gotta love that line work!! You really showed all the love in this video with your sketchbook. I can't wait to see all of the amazing creations you make next!

Eyy! I just found a ton of tubes of Turner Acryl Gouache at the "free art supplies rack" in my uni. Gouache buddies :)
Loving the blue horses!

this is great! I also love drawing people looking at their phone. the most controlled figure models ever! the model with the plastic snake sounds too damn funny, I would've absolutely lost my mind laughing at that one... and the barbie doll?! 💀
Kristen, you started my day out on a positive note, thank you and beautiful work-as ALWAYS 😊

Great tip, thank you!
This is fantastic. I love your art and your commentary.
I really liked your first idea of starting a sketchbook with a lil list of inspiration/drawing menu ! Good stuff

absolutely incredible work, so lovely to look at!! the bright red book is such a fun preview to the whimsy inside
self portraits are so challenging and for what!! i always make my face a little too wide 💀
I think your sketches are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I think branding yourself little tiny egg everywhere on the internet is a damn cool and i love it
This was really fun. I love the blue horses. Reminds me of "The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse" by Eric Carle. Hope you have a good rest of your week!💞
yep im inspired now time to finish my journal

The page of persimmons and trees is my favorite. They are really, really nice.
24:39 My fav pages , obsessed with everything you draw ❤️❤️
Always feel so motivated to get my sketchbook out when I watch your videos! This was fab!!
found this video randomly, and it really inspired me to get back into art! :)
love the first blue horse, looks very surreal

Ooh watercolor AND gouache - i’m going to try that!
that list idea is so smart!
