Patara, I hope that you know how special you are! Yesterday I visited one of my clients to drop off some holiday cheer. He's a vet and he cried. He gave me a big hug and told me how much he loves me and my family. He apologized for the state of the world, said this isn't what they fought for. Seeing him break down broke my heart but it lit another fire under my butt. You were so right about people struggling! This man is one of the strongest people I've met and to actually see the struggle 😢

When it comes it will be an international melee that has never been seen, with billions of people. Not just those of us that call America home. Heart breaking doesn't even come close. I love to hear you try to explain animal sounds to city folk. On a farm, you get to the point that you don't "hear" the noises anymore, unless it's a crisis sound. Roosters haven't woken me up in years! Just like city people don't hear sirens. Farm sounds are like a heartbeat in the background. 😊

We have had 2 red tailed hawks hanging out on the power lines in front of our house. I walked into the bedroom yesterday and the curtains were wide open...the female was standing less than 10 feet from the window. I grabbed my phone to try and get a picture but our windows are screened so it came out looking like a canvas print...i never realized how big they are...much larger than a chicken. Magnificent birds!

I grew up in East Tennessee. The graveyard across from my Grandaddy's land had graves of both Confederates and Yankees. Yankees burned down my church in the Farragut area. Cannonball holes were in a local house. It was a terrible time for Americans during that time. 😢
The hills, in up state NY, where I come from, I have very very few who faught in the civil war. They had too many family members that were in the south and didn't want to take sides against them.

Here’s a reflection on the season. I hope you enjoy it. I finally got a batch of gingerbread cookie dough made and in the fridge. Earlier in the day I managed to go to a impromptu garage sale and picked up a wicker basket that will hold crafting materials. My focus has been on my surgery which was a week ago. My follow up is tomorrow, I don’t anticipate any problems. I’m getting around better every day and I want to start physical therapy right after Epiphany. Now I realize that I am behind in my Christmas baking list, plus the decorating projects I want to do. I comfort myself in removing that Christmas doesn’t begin until midnight after Christmas Eve. I have baked through the 12th night. That’s when the decorations come down. Christmas is my favorite holiday season, although as the years go by it grows increasingly bittersweet. Lots of bittersweet memories, a lot of should have beens, could have beens. It’s all part of the process, making peace with once happy memories. The main reason, the true reason that Christmas is my favorite is what it truly means to me. It is so much the Nativity I celebrate, the Incarnation. When the Eternal God, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity became a full part of His creation. It’s meaning is so sublime and profound, and we can only apprehend a tiny portion of it. It’s going to be a short Epiphany season, Easter falls on the last of March this year. I have an uneasy feeling about the coming months I haven’t been able to shake. In the past I frequently get the winter doldrums after Christmas. So I going to spend the time until Valentine’s Day making things for next Christmas. Something tells me next Christmas isn’t going to be an easy one. Dear friends, make the most of this Christmas. Don’t rush to New Year’s, let Christmas linger to January 6th. Embrace the Twelve Days of Christmas and learn about the meanings of each day. Then spend the short Epiphany season preparing for the uncertain days to come.

I grew up in East Tennessee. The graveyard across from my Grandaddy's land had graves of both Confederates and Yankees. Yankees burned down my church in the Farragut area. Cannonball holes were in a local house. It was a terrible time for Americans during that time. 😢

The hills, in up state NY, where I come from, I have very very few who faught in the civil war. They had too many family members that were in the south and didn't want to take sides against them.

Merry Christmas I've been reading the Bible a little bit everyday . It's almost like my children know too. Is it odd that my 8 year old was asking for clothes and warm hoodies, not toys? She has plenty of clothes, so I find it interesting. My teenage son is getting a tac vest. My older daughter is getting shearling shoes. My wife is getting winter boots.

Here’s a reflection on the season. I hope you enjoy it.
I finally got a batch of gingerbread cookie dough made and in the fridge. Earlier in the day I managed to go to a impromptu garage sale and picked up a wicker basket that will hold crafting materials.
My focus has been on my surgery which was a week ago. My follow up is tomorrow, I don’t anticipate any problems. I’m getting around better every day and I want to start physical therapy right after Epiphany.
Now I realize that I am behind in my Christmas baking list, plus the decorating projects I want to do. I comfort myself in removing that Christmas doesn’t begin until midnight after Christmas Eve. I have baked through the 12th night. That’s when the decorations come down.
Christmas is my favorite holiday season, although as the years go by it grows increasingly bittersweet. Lots of bittersweet memories, a lot of should have beens, could have beens. It’s all part of the process, making peace with once happy memories.
The main reason, the true reason that Christmas is my favorite is what it truly means to me. It is so much the Nativity I celebrate, the Incarnation. When the Eternal God, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity became a full part of His creation. It’s meaning is so sublime and profound, and we can only apprehend a tiny portion of it.
It’s going to be a short Epiphany season, Easter falls on the last of March this year. I have an uneasy feeling about the coming months I haven’t been able to shake. In the past I frequently get the winter doldrums after Christmas. So I going to spend the time until Valentine’s Day making things for next Christmas. Something tells me next Christmas isn’t going to be an easy one.
Dear friends, make the most of this Christmas. Don’t rush to New Year’s, let Christmas linger to January 6th. Embrace the Twelve Days of Christmas and learn about the meanings of each day. Then spend the short Epiphany season preparing for the uncertain days to come.
We have to keep learning to survive and waking people up ❤
