    For those asking why not use Ripple Delete (Q&W) here is your answer.

      I'm not sure what else to say, the Extract command just works in this example.

    Thanks. I've also discovered the Q and W keys for trimming the beginning and end of a clip (and doing the ripple delete part). Just put the cursor where you want the clip to start and press Q. Or place the playhead where you want the clip to end, and press W. The best part is that these shortcuts maintain the crossfades already applied. They also honor Locked layers.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Q and W require Track Targeting to be set for all the tracks. Q and W work great for simple edits but if you want to cut out dozens of tracks with one operation, the Extract command is easier.
      And yes, I have a whole tutorial on Ripple Trimming:

    Thanks for the tip I usually use the ripple edit tool didn't quite understand your answer in your link. I guess there;s room for both. On another note, I watched your video regarding computer settings for premiere and After effects. Great tips. My question is would it be beneficial to put the footage on an separate ssd? It seems that it would be and I took off footage from a dedicated regular drive, put it on an ssd drive and saw no improvement. What are your thoughts? I did take your suggestion and designated a separate drive for the media cache, as well a separate drive for the previews (scratch disk) So it seems that the actual footage does not benefit with a faster drive. Thanks for your feedback! Jake

    • @VideoRevealed

    In what scenario would you have 50 layers? Would there be 50 camera angles? Is that common?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feature films typically have at least this many tracks and usually more. It's not about how many occur at the same time, it's how many tracks are used for the complete Timeline. There could easily be 50 audio tracks. The Extract command *moves* all the tracks over. They don't have to be occurring at that point, but they will be affected by such a timing change. Hope that makes sense.
