    I read into why tyres are slippery when new and it's all got to do with the mould, there is no coating on any modern tyres, the reason they are slippery is due to the smoothness of the moulds they're in, they're smooth to ensure easy release from the mould but that also means that the tyres don't have micro texture to grab on to all the crevasses in tarmac, which in turn mean they can't get much traction other than the very top layer of tarmac, when a tyre is "broken in" it becomes rough and those rough textures can contact deeper layers of tarmac giving more grip. This is also why F1 tyres have increased performance well after they've warmed up, as they are broken in.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool good to know, my old theory of coating is wrong. Interesting I’ll have to read up on that too thanks, and congrats again on the new bike

    • @jtr549
      @jtr549 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ScoutsOut It definitely used to be the case but not anymore for sure, non-stick technology is too good now to require a lube between the mould and tyre, the sidewall is the only part that still uses it I think as there's a lot of detail that would stick without a lubricant. All from what I've watched on another yt vid.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, yes it does. The chain side can go either way, the crack side has a larger protruding piece that is bigger than the front. To make this make more sense, look at the adjuster piece that comes out of the sling arm and look at the differences, you can see how the adjustment plate fits in the adjuster

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, the problem i see with changing your own tires is needing the right equipment to do so. It sucks to use tire irons imo, i would want a machine that can do it and then a way to balance the tire after install with a bunch of weights to use for the balance. I’m been wanting to get all that and maybe i just will but its been a great deal to just go to cycle gear and let them do it especially if you are buying the tires from them.

    • @ScoutsOut
