20 years ago bumped into Harry Walker of Blackburn harriers at the Burnsal fell race.
He was so humble and an absolute gentleman.
He ran a 20 mile round trip training run-to pendle hill climbed the steps 6 times during.
    Awesome.

I wish weekend tv was still like this. Fantastic. With no feed stations i know after 3+hours (for an athlete) you bonk and have nothing left in the tank!

    Champion
Really gives a flavour of the times
To do it in that time with little training shows True Grit

Oh my word. Now that really takes me back in time. Remember that time well. All the best to Roger. A few years since I saw him in Ilkley. Vernon

A fantastic effort. As someone who has just completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks I know the course has been modified and improved greatly. In those days there were no paving stones to aid you and the ascent and descent as well as the course generally would have been much tougher than it is today.

You’ve every right to be proud! It’s still a great race today and your dad ran a time that very few will do.

That's Awesome. Thanks for the post. In today's modern videos instead of crediting "Helicopter Pilots" it will be "Drone Pilots".

Jonathan. I hope this message reaches you soon. Firstly, my condolences to you, your brothers and mum. I have a letter I want to send to Susan and you all. Is ‘Stoneleigh’ still the correct address all these years on? If not I shall have to change the envelope and send it c/o Goods of Otley. Vernon

Hi Vernon. Thanks for your kind message and also those on X.
Stoneleigh is no longer the correct address. Let me try and get the new address to you somehow…

Just wondering is Mr Roger still alive today?

Sunny Nivea Yes he’s still around, living in Otley. Probably couldn’t run another Three Peaks race but definitely still alive.
