How hard IS the Yorkshire 3 Peaks? we found out

- The legendary journey, done for charity: did we finally bite off much, much more than we could chew?
A time limit, middle aged spread, our own health issues AND bad weather?
After deciding to attempt this legendary route to raise money for Marie Curie, the time came for us to actually DO the route.
It rained most of the time, people gave up and left the route.
Would we be amongst them?
With only 12 hours to complete this epic journey we set off at 0600 and kept a close eye on our maps, stopwatches and blisters.
As the clock ticked on and the weather worsened, would we make it or fail in the attempt?
watch & find out!

Well done guys.
Thanks Steve, it was difficult at the end, the slog to the final summit
Completed this with friends in June , after second peak we had awful weather , rain, hail ! It was tough but glad we finished , well done !
@@lisaplumridge8667 same to you! It's a great achievement
Top effort lads, I did it last year and it’s a tough old challenge, especially with the Pennine weather.
You're not wrong! Well done for completing it, I'd never do it again
Been wanting to try this for ages. I’m going to try run / walk it and see what happens. Great video guys 👍
@@conradburdekin722 thanks for watching, I'm too old to run it but I wish you luck: the trek from whernside to Ingleborough was hard. Be safe & enjoy:-)
@@Over_the_Hill I can’t remember which way I’ve got it plugged into my watch but I THINK it’s clockwise so finishing with Penny-Ghent
@@conradburdekin722 ah great! A short final walk to the finish. I'm never doing this route again, tho. I'm more for things like our recent cadair Idris trip. I'm glad I did it & guys in the pub at Malham were impressed we'd successfully completed the 3 Peaks. I didn't expect that amount of kudos AND we raised money for Marie curie
@@Over_the_Hill you did so well. I know a few people who’ve done it and they all said it was tough.
@@conradburdekin722 thanks! Best of luck for your attempt!
Well done guys great achievement
@@billbrason138 thanks Bill
Hi AJ, hi Captain, many congratulations, such a shame you got the crappy weather, it’s just been awful hasn’t it.
All the best gents
Dave
It's been terrible, still we did it. Never again tho
@@Over_the_Hill I’ve heard a few people say that all three hills are brilliant and deserved to be walked and taken in properly on their own.
I'd say oif the 3, I'd do Ingleborough again, but I wouldn't try the 3 peaks again, it was very very long
Years ago I was coming down Ingleborough and got talking to a lad who done it twice. As in he got back to Horton and set off again 6 peaks in one go😳
@@craigmacc1604 god, no! I really really couldn't do it again, let alone twice in one go
well done fellas
@@ronnieranaldo6717 thanks, it WAS a challenge!
@@Over_the_Hill you and captain smashed it, well done, makes me want to do it myself, thanks
Great video...I'm doing it again this Sunday it will be my fourth time..the views are amazing when you get to the top 😍❤️Jules
Well done, Jules but it was my first & only! I'll be using what's left of my knee joints on other, more forgiving routes, thanks for watching
Cant wait to have a crack at this
By ek 💪🏼🇬🇧
Oh it's a challenge all right!
@@Over_the_Hill i know the area pretty well been camping at ribblehead since i was a kid its only about 20 minutes away from us for some strange reason iv never thought about doing it, at the station inn at ribblehead had plenty of beers there and spoke to many people about the Y3P but never done it ..... i do fancy a winter walk tho as im not a massive fan of heights hahah
@@RoughWalkers it's pretty much my first go at anything in Yorkshire: I'll be back at some point, but I've got too much on my plate ATM & my knees won't take it. It felt great to complete it!!
@@Over_the_Hill i bet mate great effort 💪🏼
Doing it this Saturday! Aiming for 10 hours !
Make sure you get an early start & be safe! The long trek from Whernside to Ingleborough is a drag
I did this, Saturday just passed hard but what an experience
@@Over_the_Hilloh yes it is, doing the first peak you are like okay that's complete and then the distance to the second was long and when finishing the 3rd peak we had 2 hours of descending from the third and last peak
@@Over_the_Hill cheers mate, we’re starting at around 5am so hopefully back in time for tea haha !
@@jamesa9311 good idea I hope the weather is ok for you & be safe!
I didn't think it was 'that hard' I did it in 8 hours and I'd never done anything other than go up sca fell, It's basicall a fitness test,, if you're pretty fit it isn't that physiclaly hard imo, it's all in the wind. I did have better weather than you and my feet were blistered horribly.
Well done. We did it in significantly longer time, we're both 56 & have ailments :-(
@Over_the_Hill you did great! I did penyghent last week and struggled
Well done for doing it tho! And thanks for watching, if you struggled, will u do more?
Did this yesterday with my daughter. Thankfully the weather was not as bad as you had it though all the peaks were shrouded in fog. Great video!
@@cademjable well done, both of you& thanks for watching
Doing this on Monday, thanks for the insight. 👍
@@StreetRider-iz7tg you're welcome and best of luck!
7hrs 31mins, to and from the pen y gent cafe, great vid.
Oh well done! Beats us big time!
Brilliant! Well done chaps - still on my to do list - Inspired to give it a go soon - See ya at RDH - Adam 👍
Thanks Adam, it was a proper challenge. Doubt I'll ever do it again, but I'm glad I did it. See you soon
Well done. I did this yesterday for Meningitis Now. It's a real challenge and very satisfying to raise money for charity.
Well done & it IS a real effort!
Well done guys that looked hard !
@@Tominthetent thanks Tom, it got difficult at the end, the climb up Ingleborough in the wind & rain definitely sapped our strength
@@Over_the_Hill The fact you can do that is very impressive at your age no offence but a lot of younger people would struggle. 🤣 Well done guys keep it up and put them all to shame ! 👍
@@Tominthetent thanks mate, we saw 3 students bail after the first one. 👍🏻
Well done. I attempted this in 2016 with work, but had to pull out after Whernside when an old injury flared up. My friend and I went back to do the Three Peaks in 2019, successfully this time in 11.5 hours, it was hard and we were knackered. The scramble up Ingleborough was scary. I have done all three peaks separately to enjoy each individually.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, I'm glad it went well in the end for you, the captain and I nurse a few health issues too. Next week we're doing the Northumberland coastal path but it'll be very very leisurely
Well done guys on completing the route and raising funds! Top video too 💪
Thanks for that! And taking the time to watch
well done chaps.
what did you use to record this mate? Just your phone?
A GoPro hero 11, thanks for taking the time to watch it.

Thanks for watching our adventure! I wish you & your mates every success on your trip. It's difficult, but you sound like your cause will help you cross the finishing line. Let me know how it goes.
Best of luck!!
Captain 🤦🏻♂️
Well done lads, I'd like to do this walk but with a camp somewhere inbetween😁
There's a lot of damp, insect infested fields between each
@@Over_the_Hill hmmmm defo need the flextail midge repellent then, cheers my mates got one, worked quite well so far👍
Yeah, I've got one, bought it after being eaten in Yorkshire
Great effort.
Thanks Les
Well done guys 👍
