Hey everyone - if you want a free 14 page color coded .pdf download of the 5 Shapes of the Pentatonic Scale and how to connect them, download that here: powmusic.co/5-pentatonic-shapes/ - the download is in the key of G, just like this song, so you can use it directly to figure your option for soloing over this tune :D
Love your teaching style, at 59years old, after a lifetime of fear to learn, I’ve finally bitten the bullet, bought the gear, hired a brilliant patient guitar coach, and between her expertise and your fabulous style, I’ve pretty much got “Wish you were here” down ... after 1 month of squeezing in practice between all other commitments.., thank you so much !
I began playing when the cv19 lockdown started. I'm completely addicted and have been since March... it's so weird! As soon as I get home I run for my guitar, switch on the amp and play. I've stayed up until 5am a couple times, 4am a couple more times, and between 2 and 4 dozens of times to the point where I was sleep deprived! I haven't gotten really good, but my skills are there, my foundation I think.. is solid. I've watched hundreds of guitar videos and in my opinion, your videos.. like this one.. are by far the most useful, thorough, professional, successful in teaching me, fun and wonderful of all the teaching videos on TH-cam. Like at 15 minutes.... you're going through a transition, note progression, whatever you call it, for like 4 minutes straight. And that's exactly what it takes to figure it out. Repetition, straight from the Department of Redundancy Department, over and over. Listening to your video sounds exactly like when I'm trying to figure out how to play a song... and that's a first! You singing "open g to third fret on B string" or whatever, good stuff!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to create, edit and post your videos! You're awesome!!! I've never paid anyone on TH-cam before.. but I'm going to figure out how to do patreon. Thanks again!
OMG ...I just came across your video, I've been attempting guitar for 4 years, im 62 years old & wished I'd started when I was young, I looked at playing this & tried .. YOU have just given me a boost with your Symple, layman's instruction & tabs, I wish I could have them on paper as its harder for me to keep stopping the phone video ... Thank you So much, I got guitar in hand now & I'm going to give it a shot... I just need the words printed now ...xx
Just brilliant ! This is what the internet is for, right from the get go, Tim Bernards Lee, free to all, as free as our thoughts and the thoughts of other. Thank you so much.
Completely agree. At my level of suck, my fingers work, but reading tabs and playing is a challenge. Watching, listening, and seeing the timing change between each chord is much more helpful and easier. This is great stuff!
as all those before me said in these comments WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE BIG BOY your even wearing the levi styled shirts that were so popular then, can't tell u how much i appreciate all the time and effort it took to make theses video's because i always was looking for some like you b/c thats the only way i'm going to learn with all those colors and animated finger positionings thank again i'm going to add this great song to the top of my quarantine bucket list
I play the intro and solo slightly different, but the help in the verses finally helped me get to where I could play and sing the song. The great thing about blues is you get to put your own spin on things. It’s why I love it so much
First time I've seen one of your lessons, very impressive multi-media presentation. Clearly a LOT of work went into this... Pink Floyd is not my first choice of covers, but I will look at your site for other work you are presenting. Thanks very much for your creativity in pushing the boundary in online music education.
You bet Gary. I looked thru all your lesson videos, not a lot of them... are you planning to do more? If so, are you familiar with Dave Rawlings? Incredible guitar player, unique style, very few online lessons... also Darryl Scott, great songwriter and guitar player.
I just really started playing again. I know the basic chords and bar chords. I have been watching your video for the past few nights. Just got to the leads. Now I watch this video even when I don’t have a guitar in my hand. This is a really good video. Well done especially for a beginner that wants to to some progress. Thank you so much. I think I will be following you for now on . # 1 guitar teacher. Thanks
Wow this video popped up His Purpose !!! I am going back to Acoustic Guitar for practice and drills for left-hand physical therapy to eventually get back on a Worship team !!! And I definitely had to like Subscribed and Share !!!
thank you so much for teaching me. i have looked for a long time and here you are. you not only slow it down but you show the notes I just cant thank you enough
I just came across this tutorial . I followed a few highly selective others earlier on it. But surprisingly your way of technique with out wasting any moment or in unnecessary useless talking your teaching was instantly found very useful and helpful. Hearty thanks from me. Hopefully as I have subscribed i am sure I would be much benefitted from your links.
Wow, am I happy that I came across your video!! I have never seen any other guitar instructor on TH-cam put in as much time, patience, visual demonstration and simple explanation on how to play a song, or anything else for that matter. Thank you!! I appreciate all your efforts and have subscribed to your channel.
Just WOW! Wonderfully dedicated tutorial. Everything made soooo crystal clear! Best guitar tutorial channel I have ever found in TH-cam. Carry on BRO... We are with you. Please do not stop!
This video is great, I just picked up a guitar and started trying to learn just a week ago, after I learned Horse With No Name (I’m bad at studying so I went for a simple song before even working on learning basic chords and such) I got it in my head to also try WYWH and you e taught me how to, albeit slowly, play it out one note at a time, still struggling with the slides but that’s getting better. After 3 days of practice I can do the intro part nearly flawlessly, though I sometimes still fat finger mute the A string. 20/10 on the presentation. I was able to pick this up with basically no guitar knowledge, and it’s inspired a lot of confidence to actually learn and practice the unsexy basics so I can grow my base level.
Hands down the best video instruction I've come across. As Billder Inbaja said, you clearly put a lot of effort into making this. You seem to have done everything right. I notice that you make certain you hold your fingers so that your students can see what you're doing. Great attention to detail.
Thank you Garry for very impressive and well demonstrated in a very clever way which is based on video game but a further step up compared to similar providers. And the ability to watch it in a slower motion, so it helps to understand it better. Looking forward for more and more techniques including reading music and music theory. It is very impressive is to make things easier simplified A B C where the learner gets very excited and even asking for more!! I do believe that nothing impossible to achieve and in the presence of a great learning aids the results will be even much helpful and quicker. And certainly this channel deserves all the support from everyone appreciating Garry's work and time. Best regards from England UK .
So there we go... 17:30 - 18:50, you spent 1:20 (appx length of the intro to song) figuring out that one piece of the rift, B5 bend, B3, B5, G2, G4 Bend, G2 and Strum G major. Just like David Gilmour!!! Dude thats a compliment... You don't wanna play just like David Gilmour, please... who you kiddin? Nice video!
This is the most powerful tab lesson I have ever seen. I play the guitar for half a year and learning this solo took me about three days (To the point I am quite satisfied with it :) Keep doing these videos man, good job!!!
Wow man...this style of teaching is absolutely fantastic. Putting the color coded fretboard really makes learning, for visual learners, so easy. Congratulations on your channel. I think it's great.
I've been looking online at guitar lessons for 4 years now, subscribed to many, yet, this is by far the best instructional presentation I have seen. Bravo!
Actually found this vid from a post on Justinguitar. Been trying to master David Gilmore's solo on Wish You Were Here for a longer time than I'd like to admit.... This will definitely help. Thanks for putting together such an intuitive tutorial!
After so many years I now have an acoustic , free Ovation Applause , funny when people know you play or attempt to play lol, they ask does Brian want an guitar, it needs some setup work, and the pre-amp sorted, but i remember this lesson Gary, great one,
Great lesson. I am a huge Pink Floyd fan and your graphics and interactive tab and chord diagrams with fingering is the best I have seen on you tube. Thanks. I will be subscribing.

Great lesson. Best lesson on this song that I have tried. Appreciate the fretboard showing the notes being played and going over the chords at the beginning with charts. Good pace also.
Only just found you at the end of 2020, great teaching style, I have been confused by others with this song, but your way is so clear. Fantastic. Thanks again😁
70+ and after a lifetime of work work work its time to try my dream of learning some of my favourite blues - "Sore Fingers" should be my name. Cant do this without help so brought in a musician pal and set to work hard on the basics for the last 10month. Today I stumbled upon you and found this simpler when learning a particular song. Good luck with this unique method. I f you are open to requests then next up please - Danny Kirwan version of Jigsaw Puzzle Blues.

My Favourite tutorial for this song....nearly got it nailed.
