I returned to the BMW fold last year. After running a new E36 M3 from 1996-2003 and 80000 miles, I then went all family car. For the last 12 months I've had a new 320i M Sport. Super impressed. Matt's view on controls are spot on, it is the perfect driving position. I'm looking forward to trying the 2019 model.
true, especially the 7 series. while the 5 series already looks boring, the 7 series is taking the term "boring" to a whole other level. i mean, just at the elegance of the s class and the presence of the audi a8. i really dont think bmw will ever do too good with the 7 series, but come the facelift of the 5 series, bmw has a really good opportunity.
@@markm4123 funny you should say that as I recently rented an S500 and, parking next to an M760i, found my car decidedly subpar in the presence department
Mark M you may think that but the 7 series has better presence then even the best looking Audi’s such as the A7, we had ken for 2 years and boy did it look fantastic and aggressive, it’s the grille that really makes it pop with all the creases. The 7 series I assure you is not boring nor is it really behind in any way, the drivers display needs to be changed though that I will agree to but everything else is still brilliant. Also quality is already the best so not much can be changed there, nappa leather everywhere. The 5 series though is a massive downgrade in terms of materials, we had one to test drive and it’s a good opportunity to see side by side the differences and ultimately you could not go to a 5 series without thinking about everything the 7 does better. As for the A8 it’s actually not very appealing, the A6 and A7 are better looking cars and have more of a presence the A8 has a large grille and nothing more in terms of styling unlike the other two, realistically speaking the 7 series and A7 along with possibly the VW arteon are my favourite cars for aesthetics.

does that depend on the model? The company i work for has bought an App (actually they paid someone to write one) which works on Apples Iphone 7 and above and uses NFC.
sensors in the seat detected only one passenger, like when you don't fasten your seat belt car knows exactly who didn't. Im not sure but I have heard that same system engages varius air bags during crush based on number of passangers and they lokation
On this topic, the iPhone DOES have NFC, it’s what’s used for Apple Pay, the ability for 3rd party apps to access it though was not possible (hence why BMW couldn’t make the app work on iPhones). I believe iOS 12 has opened this ability up now though.
Absolutely the best review of the 3 Series. I like the tech package scene. Great Cinematography, great audio, great product knowledge. All the best Shaun of NYC
There are 2 problems that I have with the new 3 series: the lights at the front look like the ones of a Peugeot, and the lights at the back look like the ones of a Lexus. But these are just minor problems, because this car is stunningly beautiful!
Mat, flush door handles aren't as great if you're in an accident and there is no electrical power left. Someone trying to help you can't get the door open. There were times when such grips (as this BMW has and most cars today) got the car a better safety rating because it helped in case of accidents. (when the door jammed a bit with these handles you can hold on with force, with the flush ones, you have to get them out first...) And as a second thing, i think the flush grips are adding unnecessary complexity, weight and something possibly breaking. (There was a guy who had to replace 8 doorhandles on his Tesla, luckily it was during warranty)
@@HaloMG do i really have to explain that? They were defective several times. Bmw understate bhp because the stated bhp is measure at the wheels. Whereas on a dyno which measures bhp at the engine (but on a rear wheel drive car bhp loss is approx 10% hence all bmw cars need grossing up x100/90 to get actual bhp).. Also second reason is, bmw does not want a bhp war with other manufacturers so they conservatively state their bhp. Remember the previous gen M5 although officially was 570bhp, was tested on a dyno to produce near 620bhp....

They know how many hp and torque the car makes but they don't tell the truth for some reason. Ask BMW on Instagram 'how much horsepower does the M2 makes?' Well it makes 365 hp / 465 nmt, wait for the answer from 'em
Surrealiant I never thought of insurance...maybe they do it to give them some leeway in production, or a higher bar that his easier to meet across all factories and regions.
Most manufacturers do this, particularly on their higher end cars. It's for various reasons but 2 big ones are these: 1stly they don't want to encroach on their own even higher end cars; 2ndly they quote the performance that can be replicated. I drive a GS450h now, the time is "accurate" for that, since as a hybrid they quote it for 0 electrical input in Europe, so without a 200bhp motor helping out. Again it's meant to be replicable so it's the "if you wanted to drag race someone but had used all the charge" time and it's probably accurate in that situation. The regeneration is ludicrously fast though so simply slowing to a stop at lights gives you enough charge for a launch anyway. Anyway that's just a really extreme example of one of those reasons- the 340i isn't a hybrid but if you want to show a passenger it going that fast, their time is probably accurate. However, I suspect BMW are more focused on not knocking the value of their M cars by telling us a 340i is effectively as fast as an M3 anyway (and that'll be faster than they say because they'd rather sell you an M5, 760Li, i8, whatever).
I Have one of these the 320d extremely nice car and good review, If I had to say any negative points it would be to review a standard model car as most of the reviews are done on the highest or near highest spec which most people would not get.

Well, there goes the short list. I've almost had it down to an A5 sportback but this thing is very pretty, has cool tech (the self driving part seems a bit better than audis) and more importantly, looks like it can go sideways. I'm not sure I could pull that off with the audi.

At 18:06 he shows *the M340i does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds* that is crazy quick for a 3-series!
One of my favorite reviews of you carwow. Ive gathered so many lessons from your videos. Good luck for your channel.
15:13 thats what he said
😂😂😂😂and squirt dude just squirt
Hahahahahaha
BMW : Phytonic Blue Metallic
Matt : carwow blue :)
Can we just talk about the extremely German customer support
Second fella (the expert) not the lady who picked up first
I prefer to talk about thinks that actually exist!
12:27 Remember backwards rev counters are in Aston Martin too! if that makes you feel any better
Might have to get one of these next time. They've had decades to get it right, so they are good. I've hired them on holidays and always been impressed.
saying hey mercedes in a bmw is like drinking coca-cola out of a pepsi glass
@@bradp596 better brand, but Pepsi taste is better, approved in blind tests
@@bradp596 coke contains over doese of sugar then pepsi more dangerous then pepsi and its a terrorist company
Or plugging Samsung headphones into an LG phone.
I don’t give a dayuum
It happens
Whenever someone says "all you have to do" i always follow it up with "FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN!!!!"
I have a 2016 Mercedes AMG C63s and have been considering getting something cheaper and easier to use on fuel as a daily, im definitely liking this bad boy a lot ! 🤔
Is just me or every BMW you review is just fantastic?
Well they are some of the best cars out there overall
Beautiful 3 series . Loved this review. Fun and helpful. Keep up the great work man!
You filmed this in Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹 Algarve!! 4:15min
As soon as I hit the Lotto, i'll buy me one of those
Why not a proper car like Zonda
Leasing it isnt even that expensive
_"Yeah, BMW staff let me go away with wrecking their car and they even gave me a better one to change the infotainment's activation word to 'Hey Mercedes'!"_
I so wanna work for BMW.
Well, there goes the short list. I've almost had it down to an A5 sportback but this thing is very pretty, has cool tech (the self driving part seems a bit better than audis) and more importantly, looks like it can go sideways. I'm not sure I could pull that off with the audi.
The back reminds me of a Lexus IS
Kristóf Máthé pont ezt kommenteltem en is, akkor meg nem lattam a Tiedet :)))
I can’t believe the new m340i is just as fast as the M3CS!
Nice video matt. Probably the best reviewer on youtube.
Excellent video. "Typical BMW driver" lol. Upvoted to pacify BMW for the scratch.
Haven't seen Mat this excited for a long time. Reminds me, dare I say, of the Mat from Carbuy. Good stuff!
Love it. I've had all 3 series models except the E30 and I'm sure getting this one as well.
And yet the E30 was the best with the E46 close second. But this new G20 is awesome especially the upcoming M340i
Great video, I got myself the M340 a few months ago cause of this video. Just FYI I came back and realized you’re not in launch control, and your gearbox isn’t in S1 sport, Just D. You could do much better times.
I want to buy one for my dad before he reaches 60. He deserves it!
Love the reviews Matt, it is no doubt that this car is spectacular
Picked up mine in the same color last Sunday I love this thing to bits. Wouldn’t trade it for any other sport sedan including the giulia I came very close to buying.
Better wait for the ///M3 Competition
After seeing both Matt and Doug reviewing this car with generally positive remarks, I am now looking forward to seeing Scotty trash this one.
leave it to matt to review the car with humor and enthusiasm ,,,,perfect balance with professionalism
Using a phone to unlock the car.. what could possibly go wrong in the future when bmw stops updating the software
You use the key 🤔🤔
u need 2 two phones
Your new BMW definitely won't get stolen easily like everything else with keyless tech..
you should be updating your bmw every 3 years anyway
The 320d still offers the manual. Rejoice!
M3 will too.
On this model I'd rather go for the 340i since the 330i now runs in a 2 litre motor with turbos but this was a great review mat thank you so much sir
Each one that voted for the tesla model 3 is just so awkward
Alfa Giulia is missing from the poll!
ikr it looks so basic and bland, probably just die hard american tesla fanboys
I’m usually a fan of the Mercedes, but they couldn’t have picked a more boring model to compare with, so I voted for the Audi.
The BMW is tasteless if you ask me.
The Alfa Gulia and Volvo S60 are both better looking than the options in the poll.
Jakrabat It is very good looking
