    Yeah I played football for many years growing up and suffered concussions... Let me tell you cannabis is really the only thing that helps in terms of dealing with headaches and stress. We have learned over time that even the so-called small dings during practice were basically many concussions and that just adds to the list. Cannabis is so much better than pharmaceuticals and can't imagine life without it

    My brother played baseball like a maniac, never stepped out of the way of a ball, no matter how fast it was going, took a lot to the head. There was one point he wasn't just stuttering, he couldn't even talk. He smokes, and he's about as normal as anybody else. I'm sure he's got his issues but watching him going from being unable to say a sentence, to being one of the best car salesman where he works, it's absolutely maddening, that they aren't looking into this.

      @@sheazy1383 some times were definitely just him going way too hard for no reason, but a few can happen to anyone, like getting drilled in the face as a pitcher, or catching a fastball to the mask as a catcher, since he played those two positions most often. One time a kid shoulder checked him in the face and got suspended for that season and the next, so some were his fault, but just as many weren't.

    I stopped playing football my sophomore year of college, after I had a petite mall seizure. I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and I woke up on the floor. Covered in urine and my head had missed the toilet by only a few inches.
    That was my wake up call that something was going to give. I got out before things went South.
    Cannabis helped me with stress and the pains that still linger. I'm thankful to live in a state that has legalized it.

      That’s not true. The vast majority of people caught selling weed illegally or caught with large amounts of weed plead down to possession so they can get a lower charge which may include doing some time in jail and could split families but it’s not because someone got caught smoking a joint or something. An NFL player cannot be serious about his brain health while continuing being a football player. These people slowly kill themselves because they are being paid millions for basically the only thing they are trained to do that makes anywhere near that money. They are being coerced into giving themselves countless concussions. Every single play multiple players are suffering minor brain trauma, not from direct hits, but from being knocked backward and making contact with the ground. This CBD theory is interesting, but there's just no way to avoid this kind of repeated trauma, it's practically the rules in the game being a full contact sport. If you think about how wearing armor and a helmet might change a player's psychology, how they protect themselves, and their aggression, you can see why it's even worse than other full contact sports with less or no armor, like hockey or rugby. Not that those don't cause brain damage too. They do, and there's at least some risk of injury in every physical activity. But the evidence against football, sheesh. Just stop. We made a huge mistake letting this sport become so popular.

    The issue is the leagues don’t care about the players. And that’s in any sport. They all would sweep this right under the rug if they could. And they even have before in the past numerous times. They don’t put rules in place or anything untill they are pressured to do so. And it dosent matter what it is really the league just dosent care about the players, they want production, and these teams know that in 3-5 years they will be able to go out and find another player for that position that’s just as good so why care if they last 20yr? And they have the mentality that “the strong survive and the weak give up.” But not when your pushing your body to that limit, and some peoples bodies can’t hold up during that. But yea this is a real issue in pro sports no doubt.

As a former player (through college) it's hard to explain how much pain you're in all season long. if THC/CBD can take the need off of using heavier pain meds that seems like a clear win. Too many guys get hooked on pain pills from this game.

    not easy to talk about the effects of concussions after football especially after college football before the rules of no two a days and concussion protocols lol you can't deny it's there after hitting your frontal part of your brain for years and settling into the real world.

    You know what would help even MORE with brain injuries?
    NOT PLAYING FOOTBALL.
    Deciding to willing play a game that always involves brain injuries is just silly.

      keep cosplaying as a doctor ya weirdo. “Just don’t play football!” yeah man just quit your multi million dollar job and go into a field with no experience or education? do you really think you’re better than these people because you didn’t play a sport, like as if your some genius because of that?? get a grip dude. you’re not as smart as you think you are.

    • @Shoobster
      @Shoobster 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure, but to implement your idea is pretty unrealistic. It would be a whole lot easier to fund medical studies in favor of reducing CTE than to persuade an entire country to drop it's most popular sport. For better or worse, football is an American institution that's deeply intertwined with our higher education system, and undoing that connection would be basically impossible. Over time, parents are becoming more resistant to signing their kids up to play the game, but that number will never be zero, which means that it's way more potentially beneficial to protect the health of these millions of players rather than just calling them silly and closing the book.

    I mean come on we got to realize even if they're not smoking it for medical reason I would love to have cannabis dispensaries to be available to football players so that they can get therapeutic relax time even if it's not for a medical reason as long as they use it way ahead of the game and to not during game time or any conference time then what is the problem like just let them take some CBD and see how they perform on the field
