    Howdy from Laconner WA.
I have watched most of your videos now. I think your doing a great job.👍🏻
I also have a 1977 Catalina 27 that I purchased a few months ago. Your videos have been very helpful. You are very good at boat work and your experience has been informative for a newbie boat owner.
    Thank you for your efforts.

Old school tip, use varsol as a lubricant when drilling aluminium

Maybe a dumb question, but is carbon fiber masts too expensive/not worth it? Does anyone paint their masts like yours? I`m new to this. Love your channel.

Thanks, yeah carbon fibre is quite expensive and really only for super lightweight racing boats. Many people paint their masts which looks great, it doesn’t last very long unless you use expensive two-part primers and two-part paints, even then it means alot of work when it needs redone.

Stainless you also wana drill slower. I used to have to drill and tap a lot of stainless cooked a lot of bits until my supervisor said slow it down.

Agreed, I don’t have very good bits and usually wind up sacrificing them to get the project completed 😂
