I think that it's the best family car I've seen in a long while. With 5 young adult kids and 3 in the family over 6", I might not have a typical family but this really fits the bill. The ultimate in taxi services.
hardly ultimate, like how would you drive 5 adult kids to all their varied hobbies and interests, rugby, soccer, boxing, uni, tests, nights out etc Then what about their friends like "I'll pick paul up on the way to training, Ill collect you after, I might be later, Im dropping your bother and his friend to karate". It might be acceptable for some, good for others, and great for others, but ultimate taxi car for a taxi parent?
@@Stewiedude1 @ I actually forgot about that car, yeah I agree that’s a properly good looking car to be fair, I was more on about the ETron SUVS I think they look a bit bland, where as this looks interesting
That's more a matter of taste, but Audi/VW had to grab Rivian as the current Audi/VW dashboards and media user interfaces were beyond help. Hyundai simply stuck to utility instead of gadgets so it never had problems in that respect, and the fact that they're slightly opening the doors to customisation (still have some mandatory things to show) is something I have been waiting for for a long time. I’m glad Hyundai is happy to produce cars that don't follow the mainstream boring vanilla cars that so many manufacturers seem to be doing these days. Not sure anybody actually needs a car this size but overall I think it works.
Drag coefficient less than a prius doesnt mean it has less drag than a prius. Its a measurement of the drag based on its size, as its physically bigger it will still have much higher drag than an original Prius. Companies use it a little misleadingly
Every "fact" and figure about EVs is misleading. I've never known a product in my lifetime where the manufacturers, shills, et al, surround it with so many lies to try and sell them.
@@nsweeney3970 not every fact and figure, what have they been misleading with? Drag coefficient being low isn't wrong but for people that don't understand they think it's more aerodynamic than a Prius when it's not.

You are correct Rory, Americans dont care about pedestrian safety. We drive increasingly larger SUVs and Pickup trucks with steel bash bars and Massive front ends that are nearly 5 feet tall. Heaven help any kids or short women as they disappear under the hood
That’s because in that way the US are sensible and make jay walking illegal and pedestrian shouldn’t be in the road unless at a specific crossing unlike in Europe where out of nowhere you will find a plonker in the road!
I have watched all MPVs from the Chinese market and I must say, Hyundai got all the best features from these cars and brought them to the Western market… And I strongly believe that this will be a great business idea since innovative ideas have shifted in this era…
Perfect timing, my Wrangler 4xe lease ends next year, I'll be getting this car for family trips. I was considering an R1S but after watching a video where most body shops were asking for 40k+ to fix the rear quarter panel turned me off instantly.
Someone is gonna have to explain the light bar issue as this morning driving to work I saw a Kia, Vauxhall, VW and Mercedes all with light bars running across the bonnet
A phenomenal car really, probably the one to beat of this sort of segment. I’ll never be able to buy one, but this is worth getting. Won’t be parking it in Tesco’s but if you were to drive 500 miles to a supermarche somewhere in France say (!) this would be absolutely lovely. Good review, even if sans road test. For now.
I really don’t know anyone who buys cars this size and at this price. Those who can, usually buy a Range Rover. Everyone else buys second hand cars that they run as cheaply as possible. There is an extremely affluent town nearby and it’s either Macans, Cayennes or Range Rovers in the car park. Or a 20 year old Golf.
Did you mention how much this thing weighed? 2.3-2.7 Tonnes depending on spec. So, 0.1-0.5 Tonnes heavier than the Ioniq 5N. Maybe that's not a bad result given how much bigger it looks... I also don't think you quoted a range for the 'Performance' model. I doubt that 350+ miles mentioned will apply
It's a lot larger and more spacious, with a 40% larger battery, so the weight kinda scales up decently. They did quote a range of more than 300 miles regardless of powertrains, but as with all claims, I'd be wary still
You are confusing drag coefficient with drag force. Drag coefficient is not dependent on vehicle size, it’s a function of how aerodynamically efficient the shape of the body is. Drag force is a function of drag coefficient, frontal area, density of fluid (air) and velocity, so is dependent on vehicle size.
Looks nice! Very spacious and the big brands should be worried as the package is the right. For the showcase, they should have given a better quality car though. The driver side window sill seems to be already misaligned, the rear passenger door lines do not line up with the rest of the car (looks like the door is hanging a bit down).
Wut is dat, seen a vulva tho 😂 jk bro yep u right haha it does look like volvo from the rear which is odd - not sure why designers would approve that - but thats the only complaint i have on it - also some of new bmws look like skoda and citroen i mean whyyy!! Odd choices
It's a beautiful full-size luxury 7-seater, though I prefer the more buff sister, the Kia EV9's look. The EV9 also looks a bit more harmonic. This Ioniq 9 looks like two different car designs glued together in the middle.
We've an EV9. A fantastic car, but the width makes it a complete pain in the arse for our multi storeys, that were built for the cortina and Renault 11s.
Does it have a frunk? Seems like Hyundai are bringing back old looking cars. We've got the ioniq 5 thats a spitting image of an old austin maestro, now this has a Volvo estate look about it too 😉 I like it tho 👍
One of the most uncomfortable car journeys I have ever done was in a Hyundai Pony, they have come a long way since that hateful Marina clone. This is seriously impressive.
Looks like the designers run out of ideas when they got towards the rear passenger doors and the rear. EV9 definitely better looking. Waiting for ev9 GT model to be launched in uk.

He meant the size as an SUV vs a sedan. This car is way more boxy than the Prius so it’s harder to get a low drag coefficient

Reminds me of a Range Rover at the front and the Volvo v70 estate at the back. The interior looks fantastic

In love with the 80-90's Volvo wagon's squared end design

We’ll all need HGV licences soon to drive these monstrosities.

I am thinking what would this cost to buy and insure and are repairs feasable or affordable?
It comes with a 5 year warranty. And yes, it can be repaired if it goes wrong....
